Would appreciate interaction for my late 90th anniversary Bride of Frankenstein sketch! Tumblr has eaten it and I don’t think many people have seen it 😅😩

The Bride of Frankenstein
Happy 90th anniversary to my favourite movie of all time! Yes, I'm over a week late, but at least I did something, right?

I started sketching this while at a café a few days ago and then finished it when I got home a couple of days later. I’d hoped to finish while I was still out, because I felt a lot freer sketching away from home with limited supplies, although unfortunately I didn’t have the time. It took longer than I hoped to complete after that, because once I had access to all my art stuff at home, it became a ✨project✨ that I spent too long refining when it was meant to be just a loose sketch (why am I like this…).
It gave me a chance to practice drawing with a ball-point pen, something I’ve been wanting to try for a while. I found I was a lot looser with the pencil outline knowing that I was going to go over it with pen, which was nice. I’m pleased with how the hair turned out, but I’m not sure what to make of the shading on the face and neck, because I struggled to get the control I’m used to with a pencil with the pen I used. The facial features are slightly wonkier than I intended too, because the pen didn’t give me lines quite thin enough for such a small drawing.
I’m kind of sad that I started this on scrap paper now, because it came out nice! It was cool not to draw on white paper for a change though. Unfortunately the paper didn’t keep well on the journey home (which is why it’s so crumpled) and there’s some water damage on the face (thanks to careless family after we got home 🙃).
HB pencil, standard ball-point pen and Faber-Castell Pitt artist white brush pen on… standard blue paper?

This was how far I got in the café:

This is what I did at home:

Shelf update because I finally finished the DeLorean Lego set. As you can see, I really like Universal films. (Monsters especially :3)

Because this is a follow-up to the Dracula poll I did last month, I am only including the first Frankenstein movie here, not the sequels, but I might reblog with a bonus poll, so look out for that, because I'm aware that there may be people who don't like Frankenstein 1931, but do like The Bride of Frankenstein. It's up to you how you vote, though, really, because Frankenstein and Bride may as well be the same movie.

⚡️ The Bride of Frankenstein
Mini Bride of Frankenstein I drew in the note space of July 2nd in my 2023 diary. That was the day I watched this movie for the second time. I am posting this today because it is the third anniversary of me watching this for the first time (January 18th, 2022, and yes, I do keep track of the anniversaries of the days I watched my favourite films :)).

Despite having watched this in July 2023, I only drew the Bride in late February last year. A lot of the drawings in my 2023 diary were drawn in 2024, because it takes me a while (who am I kidding, ages) to actually get around to the tasks I set myself most of the time :D
I had a pretty rough time drawing her nose, because I’m not used to drawing side-profile portraits, but overall I am pretty happy with how this turned out, although I wish I had darkened the hair more than I did.
Drawn with HB mechanical and graphite pencils ✏️

⚡️ Frankenstein (1931)
Mini Frankenstein’s Monster I drew in the note space of June 11th in my 2023 diary. This was the day I watched this movie for the second time.

Despite having watched it in June 2023, I only drew this portrait in early January last year. A lot of the drawings in my 2023 diary were drawn in 2024, because of something called procrastination! Posting today though because it’s my 3rd anniversary of watching the film for the very first time (January 12th, 2022).
I was never that happy with this one, I think I made his eyes too cartoonish, and I was happy with the lettering until I ran out of space, but I don’t really hate it either. I have actually posted this before on here, but I didn’t like how I formatted the post, so I decided to repost it.
Drawn with HB mechanical and graphite pencils ✏️

I don't have any new art for my annual Franken-versary, so have this instead :)
I went to a laser-cutting workshop at the end of November and ended up downloading my Frankenstein Monster pen drawing off this Tumblr account onto the computer we were using and getting the laser-cutter to etch it into a thin piece of plywood! I'm not sure that it's a good thing that I could download my art onto a foreign computer and use it, but I'll worry about that another time 😬

I wish I had made it a bit darker, but I'm pretty happy with how it printed out, the detail the laser-cutter managed to get was pretty amazing!
Closeup below cut.
