having been somewhat immersed in the culture of Silicon Valley by nature of 4 years here, it’s really fascinating to see people position themselves and (many, not all) AI ventures as “for social good” when the industry is genuinely just a self-serving cycle of faux goodness

my favorite thing about this project is getting really confused for a few minutes and then finding the exact answer of what something is on a map while I mess around

How is it already the end of October? I feel like the month went by so fast, and I definitely did not get everything I wanted to done. But I had the opportunity to work on a creative project yesterday for a midterm assignment and had a blast getting to re-acquaint myself with photoshop since my license ran out and I don’t really care to drop egregious amounts of money on another 😭 anyways I have a poster session today that I’m super hyped for! It’s our alumni/reunion weekend and I’m super excited to get to meet new people and reunite with one of the postdocs I worked with in the field this summer 🙂‍↕️

woke up late but my first class of the day is cancelled and the dining hall has all of my favorite foods (clam chowder bread bowl/kahlua pork spicy green beans garlic rice lunch/chicken and waffle dinner). it’s a beautiful day! I’m gonna grind for the rest of the day, working on a pset, a short writing assignment, and also a midterm project I’m very hyped to work on 🙌 also I have a poster session later this week that I’m excited for! I get to present the work we did in Bosnia this summer 🙂‍↕️

seeing that the set of buildings I’m currently working in were financed by herbert hoover is really funny given what that guy is known for. Anyways early post today since my plan for the rest of the day is as follows: reinflate my bike tires, get back to my room, nap, and then grind out my problem sets and midterm for tomorrow 🙂‍↕️ otherwise I had a pretty chill night last night and instead of working, started Brooklyn 99 which I’m now hooked on 😅 it’s all good though, it’s definitely good background noise for doing work!!

It’s been a while! Unfortunately (as per usual) my goal of “productivity” fell through, and I encountered a bit of a motivational slump last week—I did the bare minimum of work and am now rushing to complete a pset :( this is apparently the hardest one of the quarter too, so I was so overwhelmed I took up meditation and journaling last night. LOL! Anyways, I’m feeling a lot better about my work and I think I can hopefully get the majority of it done before the 5pm deadline 🤞 we’ll see. Anyways outside of school my favorite esports teams were doing tournaments this weekend and it was super fun! Both of my favorite teams came out on top, so that definitely boosted my mood. Onto the next week!
