It's time we talk about one of my all time favorite movies crimson peak WARNING SPOILERS BELOW
The first thing I wanted to point out is how beautifully done this movie is from the atmosphere to the imagery ... some of my favorite aspects of crimson peak are the ghosts they seem to pop out of nowhere leave ominous warnings and all the ghosts are red witch adds to the atmosphere, the biggest thing I love is that some of these ghosts you catch but just out of the corner of your eyes. This movie is horror but with romance sprinkled throughout it with secrets and mysteries at every corner. There's no other movie like it with such imagery and detailing you are left constantly wondering and with a craving for more once it ends... in this movie you can see how each character unravels and it becomes their undoing... the character Lucille is the most interesting character you don't get her backstory but throughout the movie, you can kinda see how she begins to unravel to the point where it causes her to kill someone she loves and that also causes her to break down even more in ways that are unexpected but interesting. And each ghost that seems to appear seems to have its own story to tell... I also liked how in the movie right before Edith's father dies when he's walking towards the exit from the showers when he stops to look down the hall you can see what looks like blood splatter on the walls behind him which seems to foreshadow his death.... and even the ghosts are used to predict upcoming deaths of some of the most prominent characters in this movie ... Even before Lucille unravels you can tell at the beginning how she's unstable you can tell by the way she acts and how her responses towards his wife seem to be cold and calculated and how she's less than pleased whenever Thomas her brother and Edith spend time alone together, in fact, the more time they spend together the more unstable Lucille becomes.... it gets to the point where she becomes filled with a murderous intent towards Edith despite the calculated plan they had to get rid of Edith, Lucille becomes sloppy because she attempts to kill Edith out of rage and anger even when Thomas pleads with her to stop...At this point you see Lucille rip off Edith's engagement ring to Thomas and push her off of the stairs Edith falls hitting her head and breaking the railing snd then landing in a pile of snow on the ground floor. Lucille does this even tho someone is pounding at the door and even with Thomas yelling at Lucille not to do it and to stop he's also yelling informing her that someone is at the door but Lucille doesn't care about that she only wants Edith dead. Even after that when Edith is saved you see Lucille planning the doctor's murder which is messy and makes things more complicated and again you Thomas trying to plead with Lucille to stop what she's doing and try to think about everything but again she doesn't care she just wants everyone dead so that she can bury her secrets and I think that she wants Edith dead so that she can have Thomas to herself... Earlier in the movie, you see a ghost go towards Edith telling her that she will be his downfall (foreshadowing) Thomas's death. For it is because of Edith that his sister Lucille murders him because she's hurt and angry at Thomas that he had fallen in love with Edith... At the end of the film, you see Lucille murder Thomas by stabbing him repeatedly and for the first time, you see her filled with remorse and guilt as well as rage. Rage towards Edith because she blames her for Thomas's death... when she kills Thomas you can see Lucille unravel completely to the point where she no longer cares about anything else and is no longer calculated in her movements... And that's what I love about this movie.
