Nacogdoches / ETX (AUG 2020)
Harm reduction is a set of health practices that aims to reduce the harm that is associated with drug use. Practices include Narcan availability, overdose prevention, availability of fentanyl testing strips, syringe access and disposal, medicated assisted treatment, connecting individuals to local resources, and more. In addition, one main principle of harm reduction aims to include former and current users in their work and advocacy to better meet the needs of people who use and are in recovery. We acknowledge that drug use is a part of our world.
This form of recovery services is not widely available in the area and is gaining traction across the United States. In this area, we are currently in development and are not yet established.
Our current goals include networking with individuals who are interested in harm reduction, speaking with the community on their views of harm reduction programs, connecting with friends and families who are affected by addiction, and suggestions on community outreach! Please feel free to comment or message us more on this.
Currently, we have fentanyl testing kits available (each kit includes 3 testing strips and a flyer on how to use the strips) that can be used to test for the presence of fentanyl and its analogs on a variety of substances. If you or anyone you know needs a fentanyl testing kit(s) please email us at [email protected] or send us a message through here.
We are welcome to comments, suggestions, and more! Thank you.
