I don't think there's any focus that ever gets put on Adler and Sims' friendship, which annoys the crap out of me because it's stated in the little evidence descriptions on the board that Sims is Adler's "favorite cohort" and a trusted friend. Sims has reservations about his methods, both in Berlin and again when they reunite in Kuwait ten years later, but he helps him anyway. When Adler needs a favor, Sims is who he goes to. And Sims doesn't ask any questions, he just does it.

And when Sims tells him it's the last time he's working with him ("This is it for me. I'm on a different path now.") and walks off Adler has a pretty complicated look on his face. I dunno, I just feel like people should care about them more.

Unpopular Adler Opinion

There’s not a correct one way to view/interpret/read him and that’s perfectly fine

To me, it’s what makes Adler a interesting character, ask 100 people on here what they drew from him and they will all say different answers.

There’s the ones who say that he has no regrets or remorse , no meaningful relationship/friendships that’s not useful for him and drop once they done their part, and family/domestic is out of the question

There’s the one who say that maybe he does have some regrets, can be capable of forming genuine relationships/friendships and even a different person off duty

There’s you can also be in the middle, that both previous side can be true in a a sense.

He can be a great lover or a bad lover, He can be loving for the exception or cold hearted to all, A monster on the field but a completely man when he comes home. Or even more silly if you prefer that

if anything, don’t be shamed if what you think is Adler is completely different than what a other thinks. It’s not what expected of you to make sure he’s” written right” but why does he appeal to you so much. I mean, it does help when you can use what you saw in canon and go from there

It tends to be often forgotten in this day and age that the older fandom members who may have been here since 2020 tend to interpret/read Adler a different way in the height of reader inserts and headcanons on here. It was basic fun. At the time, Black ops 6 hadn’t come out so they had more free range. At the end of the day, we are just playing dolls on here, it’s not like we are writing the next game in the series. It’s nothing serious(frustrating as it can be when it seems that one version of him by fandom is more popular than the fandom version you prefer). If anything trying force people to write Adler only one way only hurt fandom in the long run. Sure it may not be”canon” or the way someone else interprets him or draw from his actions but if it makes you happy, then that’s all that matters

I know, they just now had an excuse that could get it pass. If Flash games sites(converted or otherwise) had still been around, odds are that a hands off parent would have just let their kids on those sites(considering it was based on their favorite shows).

But since they no longer existed, Tik Tok, YouTube and the like became the go to sites for hands off parents for dealing with kids. And the more popular this method became, the more the goverment noticed. Who to say they been trying for this for a while but couldn’t pull the”Think of the Children reasoning” then because it would have been meet with”We have CBeebies”. Now, with almost all child safe sites either gone or paywall, They now had a in to be able to pull the “Think of the Children Card”.

If you ask me, this act would have not been easily get as far as it did if kids Flash game sites had still been around in one way or another in 2023

This could be a win-win for everyone, parents can leave their kids to play on these sites with no worry, Sites like BBC(Goverment approved) could get tons of new viewers and followers by kids watching their child friendly content, and it could inspire kids to get more involved(like construction and stem) and focus on their studying more

I’m scared about Tumblr and AO3

As you know, the online safety act has been initiated into the UK on Friday with major social media sites(fluke Bluesky and Discord) being forced(unknown as of the moment if it was fear or Ofcom breathing down their necks) to use strict age verification on anything”Harmful”. Some sites like Reddit and Twitter are even worse, blocking access to support sites and even news on what’s going on in the UK

Which is why I’m worried if Tumblr and AO3 are next. Sure AO3’s team has said they are not planning to as of the moments(helps they are not profit and no app), who to say that they will be targeted by Ofcom for not breaking. Tumblr I’m even more fretting about, it’s consider a social media site and does allow mature content(though not very explicit art) and that could be enough for Ofcom to come down on them if they are unlucky. As of now, Tumblr may have the benefit of not allowing sexually explicit images(which seems to be a gateway to get other censorship in) and clear guild lines(like promotion of drug abuse and others). Will that be enough for the site to not be a target? I pray that Tumblr not popular enough for the government to take notice(since it seems as of the moment, they are just targeting the most popular social media sites) or flys under the radar with AO3. I have seen so many talanted artists and writers here on the uk and its would be devastating if they had to vanished for their own safety on here

Sure, their VPNs and people have found work around the facial scanner. But what will be targeted exactly here? Everyday, I wake up and wonder when I check my dashboard”Will today be the day they announce it?” Will I see the news on Tumblr WIP or Tumblr Changes any Tuesday now? Sometimes, I wish the staff will just rip off the band aid instead of keeping us nervous. Everyday with anxiety cause by government taking advantage of grieving parents and using the wool of “protecting the kids” when they never cared about them in the first place until they have a perfect victim to use

In case the Online Safety Act comes to Tumblr and AO3

Right Now, I have two recommend methods

1.Get a VPN

2. Use an image of a fictional character(baby faces are not advised) on facial ID . People have discovered that the AI used for the scanner is very faulty and can be cheated(Norman Reedus was found to get users passed with no issue within 3 hours of when the Act was enable). Games with realistic graphics and Live Action fictional characters are probably the best to used

While they may not work forever, they can at least cheat the system in the meantime until either the Act get repealed or fixed(long shot as it may be) and give you some peace of mind

If you haven’t sign the pedition(UK only) and contact your MPs as others has said. Maybe even mention that you are considering voting for a different party next election if the bill is not repealed/fixed.

A Warning to UK users, There is a trending Petition where the Creator wants people’s real names to be completely link to their accounts in the name of”Preventing Online Hate”

As if having to link your ID(or put your face to be scanned) wasn’t enough, This person wants all social media account to be completely link to a person’s real identity by the way of Identity Verification(she had made a TIK TOK video promoting this) They have tug the heartstrings by using a story of their son dancing getting some cruel comments to use as a reason why no one can be private(doesn’t seem like they care if people will be in danger if their real names are tied to their account)

It not rocket science on why this will be dangerous. Not only for security risk but this law could be used to doxxed people like Trans and Protesters. Not to mention letting The Government have full access to your real identity.

Please Raise a Fuss about this and Spread the Word(not only on tumblr but other sites as well). Who know what will happen if this manages to become law

Ideas to have have your COD Reader Insert be more inclusive

a common topic in Cod Reader inserts is inclusivity and what can break the immersion of its the reader(or their OC Fill in). I’m here to show some ways to still have descriptions while being more inclusive

It’s okay if you intend the Reader Insert to be Female, Male or Gender Neutral(ditto if they are feminine, masculine or in between). Just remember to properly mention if say it’s Fem!Reader fic. People always appreciate a head up

Try to avoid stuff like color description when talking about stuff like hair and eyes. Ditto for hair textures like straight, wavy etc. Usually hair and eyes work just fine on its own and tend to flow better too. There are other ways to still have hair descriptions like” messy/tangled hair” or tied up/ pulled up”, at worse it’s a specific length. Ditto for eyes, like say if the reader’s eyes are red from crying/or just woke up from a nightmare

Stuff like Scars are okay. It makes sense if the reader is say in 141. Most won’t bat an eye at something the reader probably had picked up over the years. Or if they are a player insert(Bell for Example), it would make sense if they had a gunshot wound(since Bell was canonically shot in Cold War

If you want to avoid the dreaded blushing, you can say stuff along the line of “you felt heated” or “you started to warm up”. Ditto for marking , you can often just say”visible markings or just markings(or just say specifically bruises, welts etc) instead of mentioning the color red when describing them. When talking about skin, you say along the line “the fire made your skin glow”. Pale can be fine to use as a description since it usually refers to temporary lost of color

This is more for Fem!Readers(but can work as well for Male and Gender Neutral). In terms of height, try to keep in mind the average height of a woman(5,6-5,10). At worst, the description may be that the reader’s head may have to be tilted to look at their love interest. Again, properly list if the reader is intended to be petite/small or along the line of that

This is more a name thing, but if you don’t want to use y/n, try to avoid giving the reader a name. It can break the immersion if the reader keeps being called something like Lisa. Code names and Fake names are perfectly(ditto if you want to use nicknames). Or even if they are a player insert(again Bell as a example), you can simply use the name given to the player character for them

I hope this helps for people struggling to write inclusive reader inserts without sacrificing description much. I love to hear your thought in comments and Reblogs and please share for others to see

x readers, we always hear about what takes someone out of a fic/get them to pause for a second(like reader doing a cringe in your mind, Nicknames etc) and it’s kinda overdone at this point when talking about x readers so I wanna ask instead

What stuff in X Readers are like Honey/Pollen to you? Like tropes, stuff characters do, or even the stories themself

Stuff that can make the above usual take out feel so tiny in the grand scheme of things that they really don’t matter/make them much more forgivable, turns a maybe one time read into a lifetime read, what makes you crave more, What nicknames and words they say make you melt like butter, that makes you think” maybe he would say or do that after all”, even may convert you into a lover of somthing you previously hated etc

Just file a support email to the AO3 Staff team in the hopes that maybe something is in the works to help better protect fics(instead of being forced to lock them)

in my email, I explain how badly the ai scraping situation is effecting AO3 writers and Readers and ask if there is something in the making that can help out fics writers in case it happens again. Or at least help protect public fics better. So they don’t have to resort to locking their fics as the only option to protect them. I’ve haven’t gotten a response yet but I’m praying(naive but still) that the response will be some form of good news

I recommended emailing them too as it may increase the odds of this issue affecting us getting the staff’s attention and finally leading to some changes that leads to better fic protection from ai scraping or at least let it be safer for fics to be public again

One way I recommend is calming explaining the current scraping situation and how it’s effecting you and your fellow writers and ask if something can be done for better fic security or some way of letting public fics posting be safe again

I AM SICK OF AI

I am sick of ai leading to the lockdown of so many great fics

I am sick of ai causing discouragement among potential artists and writers

I am sick of ai stealing work from people who never said yes to it to begin with

I am sick of ai writing plaguing non locked fics

I am sick of ai being forced down on everyone and destroying search sites

And odds are whatever you are in fandom: Fic Writers and Artists who have to constantly worry about ai stealing their work just to make slop, AO3 Writers who may have no choice but to lock their fics after yet another scalping incident for who know how long(if there’s even a chance for them to be open again to begin with) ,AO3 Guest users who have witness so many beloved fics of theirs locked and can only hope one day that it will be visible again unless they manage to get a account(and even then, for some, you may have reasons why you don’t want a account just yet and that’s understandable) AO3 Writers who choose not to lock their despite it all but still have to content with ai trying to steal their readers as all as overtake them in numbers as well as having to deal with what seems to be a dying comment culture,

YOUR SICK OF THIS TOO

It shouldn’t have to be this way

Writers and Artists should be able to post their work without worry for all to see without worry

Readers should be able to read whatever their heart’s desire without needing a constant account just to view even one fic by a human

Beginners shouldn’t need to rely on ai or feel discouraged from even trying to write/draw

So what can you do about it?

Support Writers and Artists

This is obvious, likes, comments and reblogs have always been a vital part of the community. If you can, if the fic on AO3 only or it’s a cross post fic, head to your favs or just fics that you like(whatever they are locked or not) and dropped some appreciation even if it’s not the best of quality in your opinion. It can do a lot and show that people will always prefer a fic written by a human any day. Who knows, it could effect the lockdown state of certain fics if authors see how much their fic is loved and very much missed by the public despite thinking otherwise.

Help out beginners

Sadly, a part of the reason why some people turn to ai for writing and drawing is due to being scared on doing it wrong. First off, it’s okay to start out bad, that’s how you learn and figure out your style on how you want to work it be as you start getting the hang of it. No one is perfect and that’s okay. Stop fretting over making sure your work is like by everyone. Showcase beginners and offer them helpful advice if they need it. In a sense, encourage them to keep trying despite it all

Alert Others

If you see a work being stolen by a ai site, alert the initial creator so they can fill a DMCA report and hopefully get it taken down(and maybe the site as well)

Cause as along as we keep supporting each other no matter the way we may handle ai with our personal works, they can never truly takeover fandom as much as they try. Everyone here is playing a part in this even minor as it may seem(Protecting their work, Making sure that AO3 Guests never only have ai fics as their only option and they can and will always choose a fic by a human and see them as examples for the type of fics people want cause if they only see ai fics on the sites, they may start sadly believing that you can only use ai for fics to get ahead, Getting any attempts to steal work for ai shut down so it start being not worth it for the ones who try to steal. A simple comment, reblog it even like can motivate someone who may throw in the towel due to ai etc).

to add on, there are alternatives ways to view/buy games without needing to buy directly from Microsoft/XBOX and not give them as much money

Buy them used or borrow a game. Not only are you supporting the used game market(something they are trying to kill off), the purchase will go only to the used game store you brought it from instead of the publisher. Or using just getting it for free from someone you borrow

Watch the games/cutscenes(they have no commentary videos a plenty) on YouTube or sites like it. This is good if you simply want to follow the story or get a rundown for fandom wise and don’t really care about playing the game. At worse, there could be ad revive but considering how stingy YouTube can be, odds are that it doesn’t make as much money as just buying a new copy or getting stuff for mutiplayer.

For those who already own the games or the console, the organizers said, the ideal move would be to stop playing, but the primary ask from organizers is to help deprive Microsoft of revenue. Therefore, players can be compliant with the boycott by avoiding future purchases of games or consoles and by avoiding transactions inside the games.

Number# 1 It’s fiction

Number# 2 Its Call of Duty, almost every character has done war crimes(some on the same level as Adler or even worse. Heck in Ashes to Ashes, Bell can be responsible for the bombing of several countries(resulting in how knows many civilian deaths) and odds are that your fav doesn’t exactly have clean hands either

Number #3 Most AdBell fans know how fuck up it is, why do you think that most fanworks based on the two are either dark, looks at what could have been or uses it as starting point hurdle that the two must work on in order to get together. It’s kinda a requirement if you want to be a AdBell Shipper

Number #4 It’s not like it’s a case of that’s their ideal relationship, it’s honestly more worrying if they are copying behaviors( which I really haven’t seen)

Number #5 it’s worth talking about more about MKUltra and others that the initial post brought up but you didn’t need to attack the people who like Adler and AdBell just because people “Thinks He Hot”. Again refer to Number #2

Number #6 it’s fine that you don’t like the ship personally(there are several good reason why it’s not everyone cup of tea) but you don’t need to finger wag at the people who do like them as a ship( as well as those who look down at certain writers for not writing the ship the same way as you do) It’s not Twitter, the block button actually works here

Number #7 at the end of the day, it’s supposed to be fun. You are not writing the next official game, it’s called FANfiction for a reason.

for all of the talks in schools about why they are banning phones, they never seem to address and try to help why kids and teens focus on their phones in the first place( They only seemed to think the cause is addicting apps) and why they doomscroll. For the kids and teens, it’s can be a safe space for them and let them be who they are privately and talk about the issues worrying them. Because maybe in the community they live in, it’s either shut down by people or even dangerous for them if they are something that the community hates. Look at some of the issues that kids and teens are worried about today (Climate Change, Right’s to their body, LGBTQ plus, School Shooting, etc), those are issues still plaguing the states but yet there’s hasn’t been any attempt by schools and community to make it safe for them to talk about this issues, help out or just feel safe, not worry about being killed, forced to be a gender they are not and being forced to carry a baby they may not want to full term and be jailed for having a miscarriage. Not to mention the fear of a certain orange man who will lead a dictatorship that will cause what they fear. But everyone tells them to keep it to themselves or have them kidnapped in the middle and send to a prison camp if they misbehave too much in their opinion. To those teens and kids, those phone bans mean being stripped of one of their only safe spaces for even eight hours. Not to mention a relief form nonstop stress

to go with the drug addict comparison that Schools always make about phones, if you want to help a addict, get to the source of why they got addicted in the first place. Understand why they use the drug so you can figure out what’s the best way to help them so they don’t have to rely on the drug in the first place and eventually break the habit.
