no. she doesn't. mike feels like an unimportant unimpressive nerd loser, even after 6 months of only talking to el through letters.

the monologue is entirely centered on mike appealing to el's wants. never once are mikes feelings of inadequacy considered or acknowledged by el. it's all about what she wants from him, not what he might need from her. she never boosts him up or comforts him or makes him feel better about who he is. literally not once throughout the entire show.

you know who his feelings are acknowledged by? you know who does boost him up, comfort him, and reassure him about his worth as a person? will byers.

mlvns screech about bylers only caring about what will wants and not caring about mike, but that's hilarious cause we are NOT the ones discarding mikes feelings. if you care about mike, shouldn't you want him to be with the person who reassures him and considers his feelings? who views him as a strong leader who holds everything together and assures him that he is needed, and definitely not the unimportant loser he thinks he is?

Ok, so I want to brush up my writing in English, and I figured the easiest way of doing it would be to give you guys some prompts, and you can send the ones you'd like + the ship. You probably know the drill by now. I might even write one shots/long fics with some of them depending on my mood, but the original idea would be small ficlets.

And that adds another layer to how mike always tells El she's "the most amazing person in the world" but that's followed by "you're a superhero"

Not even "my superhero", she's a superhero bcs a superhero SAVES people, and he ties her directly to the fact that she helped them save Will and she'd be able to save WILL.

Kinda reminds me of when Lucas tells Max he's a Kate Bush fan now bcs she saved Max's life

The Mike vs Hopper scene at the end of season 2

Was talking to another Byler just now and like... We don't talk enough about how Mike's violent outburst towards Hopper (which is very out of character from him and it was the only time we ever saw him being physically aggressive towards someone) is an amalgamation of multiple things he was dealing with during the season and didn't occur just because he was lied to.

Firstly, yes, obviously there's the fear and trauma of thinking he lost someone he cares about deeply and that it's somehow his fault.

Secondly, there's the added fear and trauma of the possibility of losing one of the people he loves most in the world - Will. He wasn't just pissed about Hopper keeping El away, he was angry because he believes that if he hadn't, she could've helped and he wouldn't have to stand and watch his friend being in immense pain, didn't have to consider the possibility of losing said person forever.

Mike knows how powerful El is, he knows that if she was there she might've been able to help.

And thirdly, Hop becomes the safest option for displaced aggression and for projection. We've seen Mike becoming closer and closer to Will as season 2 progressed, if we believe he suffers from internalized homophobia is reasonable to assume that all his feelings would shift and become overt aggression so he acts out in attempts to deal with it in a safer manner.

So he isn't just acting out because he feels betrayed, he's acting out because he feels betrayed, he was lied to, he believed someone he cares about was gone and that would mean that someone he loves so much is going to die or suffer immensely and this person he loves (even if he isn't ready to face it yet) it's someone he consciously knows he can't and shouldn't love.
