I've been thinking for a while about writing a collection of onehots "Album of Childhood Memories" about Spider's childhood and Sully's children, including events I've mentioned in other fanfics. So this is a test of my pen, I don't know if it's worth it to make it a full fanfic collection

Neytiri remembered perfectly well that day when her children brought a human child with them into the forest. Jake had gone to the base, taking Kiri with him, she had convinced him to let her see Grace, and Lo'ak had tagged along. When they returned, there were four of them, and next to them stood a Sky Person, only small and even more awkward-looking than the adults.
Lo'ak and Kiri had rushed up to their mother then, talking over each other, trying to introduce her to the golden-haired, curly-headed boy who was watching with delight as the tips of the Na'vi's tails flicked back and forth.
"His name is Spider, and he can climb too!" Lo'ak babbled excitedly, grabbing Neytiri's hand with his five-fingered palm, as if trying to pull her closer to the human child.
The human boy, introduced to her as Spider, was absorbing everything around him with curiosity. His wide eyes took in the trees stretching into the sky, the unusual plants, and the very tall, beautiful beings who called themselves "Na'vi".
Neytiri looked him over. The boy was tiny, though he seemed to be about the same age as her children or close to it. He was dressed in bright human clothes, slightly too big for him, which made him look ridiculous.
"Hello, Mrs. Sully! I’ve heard so much about you!" Spider’s voice was childishly bright, and he stretched out his tiny hand to wave at her in greeting. He was awestruck meeting the mother of his friends, who towered over him like a graceful predator.
Neytiri’s tail twitched behind her in irritation as the child craned his neck and waved his hand eagerly at her. But it seemed no one noticed, because in the next moment, Kiri grabbed his clothing and tugged him toward the stream, eager to show him the fish.
The Na’vi woman quickly glanced at Jake, who appeared to simply be watching the children spend time together. With long strides, she moved beside her mate, her tail flicking in displeasure.
"Why is there a human child in the forest?" Neytiri asked, leaning slightly toward Jake as she waited for an answer. Turning to her, he immediately caught the indignation flashing across his beloved’s face.
"Babe, they’re just kids," Jake took a deep breath, understanding exactly what Neytiri meant and bracing himself for another outburst. Even after four years, the wounds were still too fresh for her to calmly tolerate humans being here, so close to her People, "It’s just this once – they’ll play and forget about it,"
Jake raised his hand before wrapping his arm around his mate’s shoulders, pulling her close to his chest. With a gentle motion, he brushed her braids aside before pressing his lips to her temple. Neytiri’s gaze flicked back to the clearing where Lo’ak and Kiri were running around with Spider. Her nose wrinkled slightly, but she forced herself to swallow her anger, trusting Jake’s words.
But the boy kept coming back to the forest, he didn’t vanish from her life as suddenly as he had appeared. He hovered around her children, trying to mimic their movements. He hissed, climbed, shed that garish human cloth, and started wearing garments more like those of the Omatikaya. Kiri happily braided his hair, playing with Spider’s fluffy curls before eventually helping him twist them into dreadlocks. By the second season, the boy was spending every day with Kiri and Lo’ak, and their games on the clearing gradually shifted to the village.
He would arrive early in the morning, right after breakfast, much to Lo’ak’s delight. Lo’ak stopped running around with the other Na’vi children, devoting all his time to Spider instead. They hissed at each other, darting between the marui pods. Kiri, who usually preferred quieter games, quickly joined them. Neteyam kept his distance, watching the human boy with wary curiosity, too hesitant to approach but unable to look away.
The human child stayed in the Omatikaya village until almost eclipse, and if not for Jake’s reminders about his exopack’s limited lifespan, he might have even spent the night.
And so, once again, it was another evening when Jake gently patted Spider on the shoulder as the boy watched Lo’ak proudly show off his first child-sized bow. The Avatar wore an awkward smile as he leaned down slightly to speak to the child.
"You remember you gotta head back before eclipse, right, kid?" Jake said, giving Spider’s back a light rub before pulling his hand away.
"Don’t worry, I brought a spare battery. I could stay," Spider grinned widely, fishing out a replacement battery from a small pouch, which made Kiri laugh, clearly already excited about the idea of him spending the night.
Jake’s large yellow eyes quickly flicked toward Neytiri, who was cutting fruit for dinner with sharp, precise movements. She didn’t look back, but her ears flattened slightly at the words. He turned his gaze back to Spider, whose smile was already fading.
"Listen, I don’t wanna risk your mask failing in the middle of the night. You wouldn’t wake up if that happened. Plus, people would worry about you," Jake replied with some discomfort before straightening up to his full height.
Spider shuffled awkwardly from foot to foot before nodding in reluctant understanding and trudging toward the village exit. Kiri quickly jumped up, and she and Lo’ak walked their friend out, disappointed that their plan for a sleepover had fallen through.
Jake stood at the edge of the marui, keeping an eye on the trio to make sure they didn’t get into trouble in the short time left before dinner. Neytiri’s sharp gaze shifted from the food preparations to her mate, her eyes narrowing slightly.
Jake let out a weary sigh, feeling her gaze burning into him before turning to face Neytiri. His expression held something between pity and guilt, whether toward the boy or her, it was hard to say.
"Why does he run around here alone? Doesn’t he have parents?" Neytiri spoke crisply, returning to chopping the fruit.
Jake stayed silent. His mouth went dry, his tongue suddenly heavy. Neytiri hadn’t cared about the boy’s origins before, she had deliberately ignored his presence around their children, showing no interest in who he was.
And Jake had never pushed to explain Spider’s background. He knew the kid already had it hard enough living with the truth. He didn’t want to tell Neytiri, unwilling to pick at old scars. He had hoped it wouldn’t come to this, that maybe things would work themselves out. After all, the boy had been raised by others. He wasn’t like anything like him.
"His parents died," Jake answered awkwardly, caught off guard by the sudden conversation. He hadn’t expected this talk to happen so soon. Slowly, he moved closer to Neytiri and settled beside her, shifting his weight.
"So the Sky People abandon children if they have no parents?" Neytiri let out a quiet hiss, her knife strokes growing more aggressive. The idea that humans could be so cruel as to cast aside an orphaned child seemed utterly heartless and selfish to her. A child who had lost its true parents, left unclaimed by its own kind.
"No, baby, it’s not like that. He has people who feed him, put him to bed," Jake blurted, trying to soften the edges. Spider did have a family, a foster one. And truth be told, nearly everyone at Hell’s Gate looked out for him in some way.
"Then why do they let him come into the forest alone? What kind of parents allow their child to wander unsupervised?"
Pandora was a dangerous place. Sometimes even for the Na’vi. No one let their children roam freely until they had mastered the bow, let alone knife skills. The human child was defenseless, wandering alone through the forest. And even if he could fight, like all Sky People, he was too foolish not to take an animal’s life needlessly.
Jake remained silent. He couldn’t blame the scientists for not keeping a closer eye on Spider. They had enough problems of their own without having to raise the dead colonel’s child. McCoskers had taken him in only because Mary had once been friends with his mother. It was obvious no one had been eager to take full responsibility for Quaritch’s son.
Neytiri’s tail lashed irritably behind her as she paused, the knife gripped tightly in her long, slender fingers. The silence stretched. Her head jerked up, her glare boring into his chest like an accusation.
Children were gifts from Eywa. The Na’vi welcomed them, raised them without distinction between those of their own blood and those who were adopted. Neytiri had accepted Grace’s daughter, surrounding her with the same care as her own two sons. The girl had truly been a blessing no one expected.
Were the Sky People so cruel as to cast aside their own gift, letting him wander among another species? Stupid and heartless, robbing children of their parents in senseless slaughter. For a moment, she even pitied that ridiculous little human who clung to her children.
"Ma Jake, his kind should ensure he stays with them, not in the forest," Neytiri hissed, her eyes locked onto her mate, demanding an answer.
"Listen, it's not that simple," Jake took a deep breath, as he always did when preparing for an unpleasant conversation.
Neytiri looked at him with distrust. If the human child had spiritual parents, they should have been watching over him, not letting him wander so far from their "village."
Jake hesitated, awkwardly shifting his weight closer to Neytiri before carefully taking her hands in his. He slowly ran his thumb over the back of her palm, avoiding her gaze. He inhaled sharply before speaking.
"I know how this sounds. We don’t choose our parents, but sometimes... people judge a child for what their parents have done," Jake said carefully, gently stroking his mate’s hands, "That boy... is Quaritch’s son."
Neytiri’s eyes widened instantly. Horror flashed in her large yellow pupils. Something sharp and painful twisted in her chest. All the agony flared anew, she would never forget the deaths she had witnessed, the grief, the pain, the loss. The demon who had taken so much from her had left behind a legacy. A child. One who had been playing with her children, laughing as he ran through their barely rebuilt village. He had been so close all this time, and she hadn’t even known.
"Why didn’t you tell me?!" Neytiri’s voice was raw, filled with fury and terror for her children, for her people, "Why didn’t you tell me he was the demon’s son?!"
Neytiri's grip tightened, her fingers digging into Jake's skin. Her ears flattened against her head as a low hiss escaped through clenched teeth. Her tail lashed violently against the woven floor of the marui.
"Why did you bring him to the village? You let him stay here!" Neytiri's voice trembled as she hurled the questions at him.
"Baby, calm down, he's just a child!" Jake exclaimed, carefully wrapping his arms around her shoulders and pulling her close to his chest.
His ears drooped in shame as he saw the pain in Neytiri's eyes. Something inside him shattered seeing her like this again. Terrified. Her wide golden eyes, filled with anguish, stared at him in disbelief that he had allowed this little demon to be near them.
"He's just a small child, he can't hurt anyone," Jake soothed, gently stroking her back and holding her tighter against his heart.
"You cannot say that!" Neytiri hissed through rising tears, bracing her hands against Jake's chest, "The demon's child has no place near ours!"
"Shhh, easy now. He hasn't hurt anyone, he just runs around here, that's all," Jake's voice softened slightly as he tried to calm her.
"He shouldn't be here!" Neytiri snapped back sharply. "His kind should deal with him, he has no place among the People!"
Jake shook his head and gently pressed his forehead to Neytiri's. She was still furious, her teeth bared, but she quickly yielded to the Avatar's embrace. He carefully offered her a kiss, pressing his lips to hers.
Behind her, the children hurried past on tiptoes, as if afraid someone might realize they'd overheard their parents' argument. Neteyam ushered his upset siblings ahead, gently urging them along.
"Baby, we'll talk about this later," Jake murmured as he pulled back slightly, kissing her cheek before releasing her from his arms.

CAN'T SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT AVATAR
Varang looks genuinely surprised and even somewhat tender in this screenshot, which really makes me think about potential parallels. I'm not a Quarang shipper, but I just had to share these thoughts with you.

This might sound a bit stupid, but what if in those very first shots, the Sully family, Spider, and Quaritch are actually running not from the Ash Na’vi, but from the RDA? Maybe Jake gets captured along with his kids and Spider.

This scene could partially explain why Quaritch agrees to help them escape, for his own reasons, of course. Spider was likely in danger, and he probably wouldn’t have agreed to leave without Kiri, Lo’ak, Tuk, and Jake, forcing a temporary truce.
I’m not entirely sure how this would fit with the rest of the plot, but it makes more sense than Quaritch flip-flopping between sides (first with Ash Clan, then against them, ans then again with them). After all, in the final battle, he’s wearing their war paint.

I’m really curious what the hell is going on. Lo'ak is wounded, Spider is on Jake’s shoulders, and QUARITCH IS COVERING THEIR BACKS? With a bow. And he’s wearing shorts, not pants. Or maybe it's ripped pants idk

This kind of shorts. I mean when he handles himself to Ash Na'vi he is in pants, here in short-or-ripped pants, not in loincloth. (my friend bully me for thinking about his shorts too much=_=)
Judging by everything, they’ve returned to the forest? And to some kind of swampy area. If we go by the color palette alone, the scene with the Ash Na’vi attack happens either before or after this.

And I’m really interested in why Quaritch is with them, and specifically covering for them, turning around and checking. What part of the movie is this, the beginning, middle, or what? Why is Quaritch on Jake’s side? Is it because of Spider? I mean they probably will be ob other sides again. I mean yeah.

Also, about the forest-swamp scene. We know that Varang might be holding Spider’s hair when she tells Kiri, "Your goddess has no dominion here."I think Varang took an interest in this, and Kiri, trying to protect Spider or something like that, says that he was blessed by Eywa.

Still yapping about the AFAA trailer - I just can't shut up, haha!
I think it's obvious this dialogue between Jake and Neytiri concerns Spider. I'm almost certain Neytiri will have even more reasons to hate Spider intensely (she's grieving her firstborn, the Metkayina accept Spider despite their initial hostility toward her family, he's chosen by Eywa to breathe Pandoran air, he saved Quaritch who literally threatened to kill their entire family). I believe their relationship will reach unprecedented tension in this film.
While Neytiri never liked Spider, it wasn't life-threatening before. But after "a son for a son," things will likely become dangerous for both of them.
This brings us back to Jake's words about hatred. For some reason, I keep seeing takes on Twitter/TikTok claiming Jake has no right to say such things to her given all her trauma. But to me it's obvious Jake is actually showing concern for Neytiri here, even if she doesn't fully understand him.
I think Neytiri's hatred toward humans, her potential thirst for revenge and need to unleash accumulated pain will seriously affect her relationships with both children and Jake. That A2 scene where she breaks the bow perfectly demonstrated how her pain and hatred make her accidentally destroy what's precious to her. Considering Jake and Neytiri might be separated for part of the film, I suspect they may temporarily grow distant due to misunderstanding each other.
Moreover, I believe we'll see numerous parallels between Neytiri and Varang. Varang will mirror this accumulated pain that transforms into poisonous hatred and rage. Their confrontation might make Neytiri realize how her anger is destroying both her life and others'.
That's why I'm truly anticipating major developments in Spider and Neytiri's relationship. I sense an enormous (and likely painful) personal journey awaits her. Spider will inevitably be part of this, especially now that Jake has accepted him and he's becoming closer to their family.

SPRRY IF IT A LITTLE BIT OBVIOUS BUT HAHA I WANT WRITE IT

Just small talk what I really want to see in afaa.
Spider and Neytiri's direct interactions
I’m especially interested in seeing how they’ll interact after finding out that Recom Quaritch is alive, as well as after Spider gains the ability to breathe Pandoran air. Honestly, I’ve always been more invested in the Neytiri-Spider dynamic than the Jake-Spider one, Jake was initially pretty neutral toward the boy, and it’s easier for him to understand and accept him.
Ikeyni and Tayrangi

Someone on Twitter (and later on TikTok) pointed out that this looks a lot like Ikeyni and her ikran, I’d love to see her! The Tayrangi have been my favorite clan ever since I really got into the franchise.
Recom!Q and Parker Selfridge
We know Selfridge is coming back, and judging by behind-the-scenes photos they'll have some interactions. Ha-ha, I just really miss them to be honest - I recently rewatched A2 and human Quaritch's dynamic with Selfridge was hilarious. Basically I don't have any deep reasons, I just want to see them together.
