Aug+Sept 2017 INoaMON dev dump

No INoaMON related doodles Tiny doodle because a text-only post is sad. Scripting chugs along as I prepare to move to another state (sorta!).

The intro was completed in August and it ended up being 23k words.

Outlines for all 3 traveling paths (Air = Rais/Garett, Earth = Indigo/Markol, Water = Levan/Mirell) are done and each have about 30 scenes not counting minor variables or any scenes that might crop up as I’m writing.

I’d like to have all three paths done before or by the end of November.

In the meantime I’ve found some very neat historical tidbits that are helping make the setting meatier.  Some research into trains also filled in a previous gap in Levan’s story. (Trains now exist in the setting.)

Doodle is roughly what Grenn, Indigo and Markol’s travel setup looks like at night. Grenn has a small cart with his supplies, Indigo has one book and a rolled up blanket, Markol has his storewagon and his hellboar (Cobbs).

June+July 2017 INoaMON dev dump

Not a whole lot of art TBH as I’m doing scripting.

June was a bit of a bust and part of July got sucked up by overtime from my dayjob.

The intro is being rewritten from scratch and is currently at 11~12k words and features 15~20 choices vs the original draft’s 17k words and anemic 3 choices clustered at the end.

Top left is an incredibly rough map that shows how the different routes physically work/look.

Top right is a rough of Garett/Rais shitshack of a house.

Bottom is a doodle because… doodle.  Sorry I don’t have a more substantial update and thank you for your patience.

May 2017 INoaMON dev dump

Row 1 - Refamiliarizing myself with the characters (and drawing in general) again. Garett is my comfy zone for this.

Row 2 - Sketches led to thinking about food and accommodations of the setting (not pictured, the symbols i decided on). Rais is exactly the kind of person who can only justify “luxury” drinks to himself if it comes with a reusable jar.

Row 3 - Had to “fix” Indigo’s vest so that it can work (the secret is buttons).  I’m mulling over if Levan should wear a minor degree more clothing in case I don’t have enough room on the screen.  A sash or suspenders might work since Garett is also shirtless. I welcome your thoughts.

Row 4 - Ion, small dragon mom that is in all routes, she helps house and train Grenn for his new job.

Row 5 - Mal, Director of Galatea, she too appears in most, if not all routes.  She is very trusthworthy.

(To the anons who sent in such kind comments, I appreciate it and while I may not be publicly replying to them individually, I have read them and am grateful for your support. I must also thank everyone for their enduring patience about all of this.)

Alrighty, a new year, a better year, let’s get down to UPDATES, GOALS, and TIMELINES. Oh fuck my bathroom and room became a biohazard hellhole in January. OK let’s try that again.

I am wrapping up writing the script for “last year’s” (2015) Yurijam project, Heavenseed, I am at 6 of 9/10 parts or roughly 56k words 8 of 9 part or roughly 73k words. I had OK assets for parts 1 and 2 and then I learned how to do practical ones during a dev meetup in August (2016).  I want this project’s script finished by the end of this month at the latest (Feb) and the assets to be done or mostly done by the end of Mar.  The sooner the better. *EDIT: 03-04-17, script done, onward to assets and editing!

Depending on when HSeed wraps up, I will resume INoaMON development sometime in March~April.  If I can get started sooner, I will and respectively update you guys.

The “off” time has provided a good space to mull over and improve some of the ideas, such as general details, how some character arcs conclude and making food be a slightly more involved role.  So I’m going to do the monthly updates when I get started on INoaMON, which will probably be in March~May.

Anyway, I hope that covers what’s been going on, thank you again for being so patient.

Is this game still being worked on? Honestly I was really keen for it when you used to post updates, so I'd be pretty sad if the project was dead haha! I'm not wanting to rush you, I'd just be keen to know if it were still in progress or not ^_^

Short answer: Yes! I want this thing to be completed because since the (vague) start of this project I don’t think enough projects like this exist.

Longer Answer: I don’t like crowding this place with text updates- much less ones about my personal life since, well it’s the internet and you’re here for cute monster boys, not updates on unpleasant things in my life.

Up until very recently I haven’t had the creative energy/motivation to make significant writing progress due to external, personal factors.  Namely how due to IRL drama, time kind of just… flew by and I didn’t notice that it’d been so long.

TL;DR drama: My father is an entitled pissbaby manchild who did everything in his deadbeat power to harass the shit out of and terrorize my mother, me and brother because my mother dared to divorce his parasitic, emotionally abusive ass.  His actions drew out what should have been a 1-2 month task into a 2+ year ordeal.  His reach and ability to sabotage was so pervasive that despite the power of the law, he has actually rendered me (personally) $3,000 poorer as well as nuked what little savings my (still in college) brother had. (He actually put my mother in debt by about 150k but the sale of the house cleared that.)

That being said, don’t sweat what I just summarized, we are all living much more happily now as as of about a month ago.  We are much more stable since we’re not artificially supporting two households and having such a horrendously toxic person removed from our lives has improved our quality of living.

I will miss the money since that’s still a significant sum to me, but he is too shitty of a person to really be worth dealing with; I am optimistic I can make the money in better, future pursuits. It is also something I’d like to move past since paying him more mind is more than he deserves.  However if you want to ask/talk about this topic, anyone is welcome to do so off of anon or in this post’s Disqus section.

In terms of more specific recounts of productivity:

Mid/Late March was taken up by a visit to my BFF in Japan.  And most of this month has been taken up by shaking off the rust with a small project and a little bit of playing Dark Souls 3. 8)

Anyway, I can’t stress enough how your patience is very much appreciated.  I hope you guys can hang in there, I know how much it sucks to wait and that the game will be worth it!

(If anyone would like for me to start making monthly updates, I can begin doing that since I’ll be more capable of doing so now.)

None of the redirects are working for me either, I'm afraid; instead I get an Access Denied error in bare XML. I've tried it with multiple user agents within desktop Safari, and with actual Firefox and Chrome browsers. Private/stealth browsing and VPNs don't appear to make a difference. I wish I had more useful information, sorry.

This is definitely a new tumblr problem, checking the links myself it looks like they have some kind of different server(?) maybe.  I’ve gone and updated the links so that they now work with their new... whatever they use for this kind of hosting.

I’ve also included a Permalink in all of the posts to their respective alt host posts from my NSFW tumblr to hopefully prevent this bizarre image change in the future.

Milestone/Update

Finally some reportable progress!  I’ve finished writing the first draft of the Introduction (currently 15,464 words without edits)

I've started writing the Air Path which is one of the first major divergences. The Air Path consists of traveling with Rais and Garett, and encompasses their journey with Grenn to the city.

I call the sorta 2nd part [Element] Path, for reference, Indigo and Markol are the Earth Path and Levan and Mirell are the Water Path.  They will also be tackled in that order (you don’t have to play them in that order of course!)

I suspect that of the three, this one will take the longest since it will be setting the standard and length for the other two. Typical learning curve stuff.

After that will be the 3rd part of writing production which focuses on the individual paths and their respective conclusions.

(Then after THAT part are the bonus epilogue chapters which are only unlocked by getting the “good ends”.  I’m 95% certain they will be the shortest chapters since they’re pretty standalone and FOR FANSERVICE.)

I have also created a FAQ that you can check out, I think I’ve covered all the important questions.  I’ll see about finally making proper replies to the leftover (character) asks in my box, apologies for taking so long to get to them!

Currently there are no (dateable) trans characters in this version of INoaMon.

However Mirell is genderfluid and is fortunate enough to have very liberal control of their appearance.

Male Mirell and Female Mirell and Monster Mirell

I apologize for not having more diverse options, but maybe Mirell will strike your fancy.

If you are more inclined towards a project with het relationships and monstery people, you might find WRAPunzel more to your liking.

However please bear in mind that its production is a little different from INoaMON’s and that the writer for it is currently occupied with other projects.

First, I love this so much and can't wait for it to be finished! Second, I love the characters, and specifically, Levan and his dick. But -voice drops to whisper- sharks have two, side by side.

Levan traded his second dick for the ability to walk on land and not die like other sharks are prone to do when out of the ocean.

He considers it a good trade, don’t you agree?

Will there be an option for different outfits/costumes(like that sexy pizza thing) in the near or far future? I LOVE that shit. Not even kidding, I would die for an outfit gallery or whatever. Clothing designs are my crack, friend.

(This ia a great question! The sexy pizza was a Halloween joke for my webcomic though so that's a little apples and oranges, but anyway)

Currently no bonus/unlockable outfits are planned as that would require more coding than I am currently able to employ. However I do have a friend who says they'd like to help, we'll see how it pans out as I get to making the finalized sprites.

That being said, there will definitely be some different outfits that happen during the course of the regular game.

It'd be pretty easy for me to put outfit designs in a gallery. When the gallery is being organized I'll probably take a few bonus outfit/theme requests.

Taking some time to answer these before they get out of hand-

I know some of you guys probably came from my NSFW blog and that's fine and good but this project isn't really a porn/smut one. It has SOME sex in it, but that shouldn't be the main draw.

The sex scenes themselves are 100% optional and with that in mind, you might get a better idea of what content I'm trying to produce for this project.

I recommend waiting to play the game to find out.

Some characters will talk about fetishes, others will not. Markol probably would talk about several even if they're not what he's into because that is his personality.

I have not drawn out the CGs yet so I cannot say with 100% certainty what may or may not be depicted.

I can (almost) guarantee that there is mild body horror and gore in every route given what Grenn's (MC) body looks like. Indigo and Levan have some odd anatomy but for the most part it's very tame. Mirell has multiple tapering tentacles.

There will not be any non-con to/from the LIs in this, as it's one of the goals of the project.

There are probably other things I may be casually going over, but if you have some immediate content concerns, please ask me off anon and I will answer them in private.

I feel I should also mention that when the game is released there will be a content breakdown in the menu if you wish to be extra safe.

Hey! I just discovered this wonderful gem of a project, and I would relly like to get a little recap on how far you've come. If it's not too much to ask that is.

Thanks! I’ve been working on it in chunks since this isn’t my only project.

I’m writing out the actual prose/dialogue.  95% of the general events/outline is done (wiggle room for editing in additional scenes)

Since I’m the only one really working on it, the art is currently in placeholder form so that when I actually complete the prose, the art will not have atrophied (in my eyes).

I’m almost done with the first pass of the intro- however, I haven’t been dedicating all of my time to writing due to wrapping up some of my IRL affairs and other obligations.

Basically, fret not, I’m not that slow and have only “recently” began actual VN production.  I’ll keep you guys posted for each production milestone.

(Feel free to still ask questions if you have a concern though!)
