Sorry I've been super absent guys, work got really busy and I've been completely exhausted. I know I left you all hanging and I'm so sorry about that but I have a habit of stretching myself too thin and then not having anything left for myself...which is kind of what happened.

Going forward I'm not going to guarantee you anything with regards to updating Shadows of Desire, I think my plan with that one is to get the majority of it written and then post periodically once I'm finished with it so you don't have forced hiatuses cus I burn myself out trying to get updates out in a timely manner.

However I do want to get back into one shots etc, and try to broaden my horizons but including other fandoms and focusing on my original character because they are still floating around in my head waiting to be seen by the light of day themselves.

Anyway I want to thank you all, even those that have followed me since I pulled my disappearing act a few months ago. It's all your comments and interactions that make me want to carry on and bring me so much joy.

I don't know where to start with HTTYD LA.

First of all I think on the scale of live action films this one is top tier. That being said I still prefer the original.

I hate that they skipped the scene where Hiccup realised dragons aren't fire proof on the inside...you know the whole reason he knew how to defeat the Red Death.

I felt like some of the interactions between Hiccup and Toothless were a bit forced, same with Hiccup and Astrid. But then I think Hiccup in general felt quite flat. He has so much movement in him in the animation and that just wasn't there in this version.

Astrid's a different kettle of fish...I never really liked her in the original film anyway it was only her development in the later films and shows that made me like her so this is a difficult one for me. If I compare her to the Astrid of the first film, she's alright I guess, I did not like the scene around the book of dragons where she's in Hiccups face about him being handed everything (you know the guy that is hated by the whole village is being handed everything apparently).

Fishlegs - okay, nothing to complain about

Snotlout - accurate and hateable. Found the added scenes with his father a bit weird and unnecessary. They added nothing to the story and took up time that could have been used for something else that developed the relationship between Hiccup and Toothless.

The Twins - no...well actually Tuffnut was accurate, really liked him but Ruffnut did not work. And the interactions between the two were stale and no where near as smooth and natural as they were in the original.

Stoick- brilliant but then I would expect nothing less from Gerard Butler.

Pleasantly surprised by the dragon designs, loved the slightly more lizard like mannerisms. The monsterous nightmare and hideous zippleback worked really well, but not convinced on the gronkle and deadly nadder.

Overall it's a decent film and I would not object to watching it again but given the choice I would prefer to watch the original animation.

I don't know what's worse:

1- Having an anxiety attack for (what appears to be) no reason

2- Knowing the reason for the anxiety attack but not being able to do anything about it because it's a stupid reason to have an anxiety attack and everything will probably be absolutely fine. But I can't stop thinking about it and therefore am unable to focus on doing anything else

Drabble Challenge - Poppy

“I named her Poppy.” The man looked down with a sad smile.

“Oh that's a sweet name. Is there a meaning behind it for you?” An innocent enough question but tears formed in his eyes.

“They were her mum's favourite flower.”

“Where is mum? No offense but its not usually the fathers that come to these sorts of things.”

“They never got to meet.” Those five words were all it took to bring tears to every person's eyes. Suddenly the whole of the new parents group was in tears, all for his daughter and the mother she would never know.

Drabble Challenge - Hat

“Excuse me, sir, I’m going to have to ask you to take the hat off. You can’t go through the scanner with it on.” The security guard said in a bored tone.

“But why ever not? It can see through my clothes, why can’t it see through my hat?” He was fiddling and sweating profusely, making the guard suspicious.

“It’s the rules sir. If you don’t comply I can't let you though” 

“Oh alright.” He needed to catch his flight to Florida and get to NASA so he could go home. He just hoped he didn't scare anyone too badly.

Drabble Challenge - Maelstrom

It felt like worlds were colliding. Building shook as both earth and air were contorted by the maelstrom of power that had formed.

Blissfully unaware, you and your boyfriend were lying exhausted and sweat covered in bed…or at least what remained of the bed. You’d both let your strength get the better of the furniture in the room. As Jinwoo tried to right himself more of the bed gave way underneath him, sending him crashing to the floor and you into fits of laughter.

“Keep laughing like that and we’ll do it again.”

“Don’t threaten me with a good time.”

Drabble Challenge - Mercy

“I pray, m-my liege,” Beru was down on his knees, palms pressed to the floor bowing as deeply as possible, “have mercy.” The shadow soldier's voice was weak, near tears.

“You beg for mercy and yet you constantly do things to bring my wrath down on you.” Jinwoo stalked closer, his purple aura filling the room, causing Beru to cower further and the other shadows to retreat into the shadow realm. All but Igris, he didn’t know what the arrogant ant had done this time but he always enjoyed watching him get punished. Then being there to comfort Jinwoo afterwards.

Drabble Challenge - Transform

What did they expect of me? To transform into some sort of queen? Someone worthy of ruling the country? I’ve been living in a run down cathedral surrounded by dragons for the last 10 years. I was definitely not cut out for a life at court.

Not to mention before I could become queen I would have to kill the current reigning monarch! Sure she was a tyrant and one of the main reasons you’d been exiled from your home. But that didn’t mean you could kill her. She was a Queen for Ravendors sake, killing her wouldn't be easy.
