Since I can remember it has been the biggest rule of fashion to never wear navy and black together. That has changed because the past 2-3 years it has veen creeping into trends. It hasn't made a full impact as I think people are tip toeing around the idea wearing these two colours together. But as I am seeing this in stores this year I have to admit it, I like it. I think they go well if you wear it well and have the outfit thought out.
The Olsen twins love rocking out the navy and black. There is a jacket recently in H&M thats navy and black its not expensive so I might treat myself and try it ;)

This year the maroon “wine stained” lips are back. I love this winter look.  I love dark lips I think there very classy, old hollywood kind of look except more edgy. Theres plenty more shades out there to suit people that dont want to go this dark. A nice rose petal shade would be nice just make sure you stay in the burgundy/wine shade and not head into the browns. The wine stained lips are also making an appearance on the runway.
If you want to pull this look off you can do a smokey eye, classic eyeliner or maybe a touch of gold dust. Dont go to crazy on the rest of the make up. A naked eye would be perfect for it as its such a bold statement. If this doesnt appeal to you dont worry theres a look for everyone… “Pretty Pink” is going to be a trend which is just simple and pale-like make up. Its a real natural look which is so refreshing. If you like a bit more going on its also all about your eye make up this year.
Stament lines are big this winter. Dont be afraid to do something different and creative. Black, metalic, bold colour eyeliners are all the range. Theres a reason why they are called statement lines..your suppose to make a statement. You obviously dont have to go for a bright pink eyeliner. Try something that will suit you and what you will be comfortable with wearing. A nice metalic navy or gold with maybe a smokey eye?! Play around with it. Have fun with it.
As for eyebrows…big brows is the new trend and its not going anywhere anytime soon. Its here to stay for a while so stop plucking start growing. Some people are even back combing there eyebrows. Remember to still keep them tamed and trimmed but to get that nice shape purchase a good brow gel. Just make sure you have a bit of control over your eyebrows. If you have blonde hair like me go 1-2 shades darker for that fashion edgy style.
To finish of this look apply a maroon/burgundy shade nail polish. It just completes your whole look. Gives it an elegant finish. I cant wait to purchase a new shade of lipstick. I am excited about this trend hope you are too.

White Chocolate Peppermint!
So working in Teavana is exciting especially when you recieve new teas! There is so many seasonal teas now - Pumpkin spiced bruleè, Spiced apple cider and Orange chocolate spice which are all lovely by the way but one of the new teas ‘White Chocolate Peppermint’ is by far my favourite seasonal tea.
It is a Rooibos which is a red bush from South Africa. It has a balancing peppermint flavour with both white and dark chocolate pieces to infuse a decedent, yet calorie and caffeine free rooibos blend. Its blended with the highest quality long-cut red rooibos that gives the overall blend an elevated taste of natural carmel-like sweentess.
When you first taste it you get this warm chocolaty taste and then the refreshing peppermint comes in. You brew this for 5 mins. For every 8oz of water use 1.5 tsp. I use 3-4 tsp for my big mug and a dash of milk to make it more creamy.
Its one of my favourite flavoured teas we have. I recently filled my red tin with this beautiful tea. The beauty of rooibos and herbal teas is that theres no caffeine in them so you can drink them right before bedtime! This is a perfect gift for someone for Christmas. Go and get some, you wont be disappointed.  What you smell is what you get in Teavana I can promise you that! :)

Is white eyeliner for you?
I love using white eyeliner. It is always in my make up bag! I have never used a crazy amount of it on my eyes, just in the “V” right in the corner of my eyes to highlight. I lightly blend it to give me a fresh look most days. I use a MAC eyeliner. For somebody who is just trying it out maybe go for a cheaper brand. Rimmels eyeliner pencils do the trick. Make sure there not sticky and they should apply smoothly.
I cant believe the white eyeliner is going to make an appearance in Spring 2014. I am excited but also worried that people will go too far or dont know what there doing. We all know the stars have pulled it off like Katie Perry’s crazy inspired 60’s look. You dont have to go to that extreme. Kourtney Kardashian has also been seen with black eyeliner and then white eyeliner applied above it. So you can find a style that suits you.
It is being used on the catwalks at the moment! You obviously dont have to be as bold as the catwalks looks. To start you off on the white eyeliner why dont you do what I do, introduce yourself to it. Apply it to the corner of your eyes. See what you think. You could also go for an off white shade. Remember black eyeliner tends to make your eyes look smaller and white eyeliner makes your eyes look bigger and wide open. For a nice fresh but stylish look why dont you try the cat eye?! Its simple but edgy and on trend.
Also a little trick for those hungover days, use white or a beige pencil for under your eyes and use a light eyeshadow to blend in and blend in to the corner of your eye to give you fresh looking eyes. Works everytime!
I hope to see alot of people rocking this trend out but please remember to stick to what your comfortable with. Look up the trends…Dont want to see eyeliner covering the whole lid or crazy zig zags! There is a look for everyone!

New makeup!
I needed new make up for the winter as I am not as dark as I was in the summer. So this time I went for Make Up Forever to give it a shot. I got the head artist to colour match me and also to tell me about the product. I made sure the make up matched my skin tone. Theres 26 shades to pick from. Theres one for everyone. I’ve heard great things about this brand. I decided to do a blog because I have so much fun doing make up. This is the order I do it in and some of the products and brushes I use. Hope you enjoy it….
Step 1 Primer:
This is an oil-free formula that contains silica micro beads that can refract light to blur out uneven skin texture. It also helps to keep foundation wear longer than if not wearing primer. It has a texture that’s kinda watery and sheer but dries down to a nice finish.
Foundation:
I went forum the HD Invisible Cover Foundation in an ivory shade 115 to match my skin tone perfectly. The foundation is an oil-free medium-to-full coverage liquid foundation that covers your imprefections while remaining invisible to the naked eye. I did my research on this foundation, alot of makeup artists use it on screen. Its a fine liquid so it leaves my skin smooth and very soft. Its so easy to apply too and you dont need much, one pump does my whole face. Less is definitely more.
Brush:
I use the Make Up Forever foundation brush small-104. Its a flat, classic shape, with wide bristles, but not too dense, this brush is very useful for fluid products. This is the classic “foundation brush” used by make-up enthusiasts. Its angled to get to places easily. The handle is beach wood and the hairs are synthetic fibres. Its so soft and goes well with the liquid foundation. It spreads so easily so your using less makeup and still get full coverage.
Step 3 Concealer:
The HD Concealer covers imperfections and creates a “soft focus” effect around the eye area for a natural, radiant look. I use the shade ivory-315. I decided to use my MAC concealer brush to apply it instead of the silicone applicator. I just turn the end of the concealer once and squeeze the silicone part and use what comes out of it. You tend to waste alot wih these types of concealers…so use my trick. The concealer will last you a while.
Brush:
The brush is a MAC concealer brush-195. Its flat and slightly pointed to give you the easiest application.
Step 4 Powder:
The HD Powder is a unique, very fine powder. It comes in only one shade. It sets the foundation and matifies the skin without changing its natural contours. Its talc-free formula is non-drying. It contains the mineral silica. The translucent shade matches all skin tones. The HD Powder can be worn alone or applied over foundation. You dont need much at all. Just brush or pat it over the T-zone area. I can see why everyone in the beauty world is using it. It totally transformed my finished look into one with a soft focus. Also the kabuki brush is so soft it makes it an easy application. This product actually makes a difference.
Another powder I like is MAC studio fix powder and foundation. It provides a smooth, flawless, full-coverage finish. The texture allows skin to breathe and its long wearing. I use a light shade coming into winter-NC20. BUT since purchassing Make Up Forever HD Powder I havn’t used this product….
Step 5 Blush:
Fleur Power or Well Dressed by MAC. I wear both frequently. It depends on what my eye make up is or what the situation is (night out or everyday makeup) I really like MAC blushes as there light and loads of different shades to choose from. You get various different looks using different shades.
Brush:
I use 116 Blush brush from MAC. I use it for shading and highlighting cheeks and face. The bristles on this brush are soft and is rounded shape.
Step 6 Eyes:
I love LOVE doing eye make up. From 50’s classic pin up look to bright, fun eye shadows to dark, sexy, smoky eye shadows. Anything you name it I love wearing and applying. I use all different types of brands for eyeshadows and eye liners. From Rimmel, Urban Decay, Inglot, MAC and Chanel the list is endless.
Eyebrows:
For those eyebrows make sure they are looked after. Make sure you dont go over board and make it look like you filled them in with a sharpie marker. You want that elegant full eyebrow look. The start of the eyebrow should have less product than the rest and remember its not a colouring book. Follow your eyebrow. I use a pencil to line underneath and fill in the back. Then for the front and to blend I use a really light brown eyeshadow.
Brush:
The brush I use is 208 angled MAC brush. Use concealer to tidy it up if needed.
Step 7 Fixer Mist:
This light mist seals the make up and keeps it in place by coating the skin with a weightless and invisible film. The mist provides protection for the make up and skin against external attacks such as pollution, temperature variations etc. Its a colorless and its made from active hydrating ingredients.
Mascara:
I use Elizabeth Arden Ceramide 01 Black Mascara. I think this is an amazing Mascara. It really defines your eyelashes. I have used so many different types of mascara’s and I am really happy with this one.
Lipsticks:
I absolutely love Chanel and Dior lipsticks. I feel the Chanel ones are classy and Dior does a bit more edgy and there good quality long lasting lipsticks. I have loads of different shades of lipsticks: Coral, pink, purple, beige, black the list is endless and next on my list is green from Illamasqua. I use Chanel Rouge Allure 66 for everyday use. Its a soft pale pink. From the same collection I use 67 a bright red shade for those pin up looks its by far my most favourite red shade. I use MAC cherry lip liner. Like i said my lipsticks are endless but those two are by far my favourite.
I hope you enjoyed my blog.

I work in a tea shop called Teavana. I love drinking tea so im delighted how this job turned out. I had of alot to learn because we have to know the ins and out of every tea we have...theres over a hundred of them! It was all extremely interesting! I had 3 weeks of training and here I am a Visual merchandiser by trade working as a Tea Specialist, who would have thought! Well I'm glad to be having a break and enjoying my time. I am working with the most amazing people.
The other day I bought beautiful tins, my tea tins. I highly recommend that you get good quality tea. The tins will keep it fresh for up to a year and when it hits summer time you can use the tea for delicious ice tea.
My favourite tea is the black tea "Golden Monkey" . I have it in the mornings with a splash of milk. It's like your "normal cup of tea". Has caffeine in it so helps me start my day. Its rich, smooth and has cocoa undertones.
Another one is an Oolong tea called "Monkey Picked Oolong". Its one of the rarest we have and it doesn't come cheap! Its so smooth with orchid undertones. Easy to drink. Its almost like a green tea.
I have learned so much about tea. I love getting up and going into work. I havn't used a tea bag in months. But in saying that I cant wait to be at home having a cup of Irish tea with my friends and family.
Stock up on your tea...the cold winter is coming! Jem x
