Just some rambling about my physical state and my mom's total disregard for artists

I've been sick and in pain for the last couple of days (which means more sick and more in pain than my baseline which I don't even bother noticing anymore) and my brain keeps nagging me: "But right now, you don't hurt overly much. Just a 3 or 4 on the scale. You might work a bit."

No I might not. I seriously shouldn't. I'm doing stuff that requires high concentration and attention to detail, which is not possible when on meds.

Also, yesterday I talked my mom out of buying overprized AI garbage in a local shop (my family is looking for a new bedroom picture). I was exhausted but proud.

The very next moment she sends me links from Temu, of all places, where she wants to buy a pic that (as far as I could assess while on my phone, without the app, swiping away billions of ads and pop-ups) looks like another piece of AI garbage. But for one third of the price.

I don't know if I could stall for time by telling her I can't properly assess the pictures on the phone or if she already bought them.

The blatant disregard for the work of artists is especially jarring since she raised two kids to be artists and both my parents are pretty decent artists themselves. But they just ... don't want to spend money on art. They see it as a commodity that will hang in their rooms for some years and then gets discarded for something new.

I'm angry and hurt.

there's a really funny 3d printing controversy going on btw.

if you don't know, there's a very popular 3d printing model out there called "benchy". this is used for benchmarking your 3d printer because it's a difficult print and will help test it out.

this is so widely used that people make their own little versions of it, remixing the 3d model to make benchy look cooler and stuff. however, a new company owns the benchy license. they are sending copyright takedowns to all those who wrongfully uploaded the benchy model.

of course, this is pissing off the 3d printing community greatly. everyone loved benchy and have used it for years. so someone on reddit decided to make a new model that is designed as a 3d printing stress test. one that works a lot like benchy, and people are freely able to edit it as they please. you know what they called it?
