His 119th show in 18 months was performed in the pouring rain and cold. He danced a bit until he nearly slipped (there were puddles on the stage), and instead interacted with the audience, catching phones and making videos while singing. He literally hobbled off the stage. People saw a 30-second clip of him not singing the chorus of his songs, and decided to meme it, poke fun of him, call his a has-been, a drug addict, an alcoholic, a lazy, money-hungry asshole. It was karma for imaginary crimes against Britney and Janet.

Like those 118 shows, the rain, the cold, the slippery conditions didn't matter. The previous 30 years of being an insanely dynamic performer didn't matter. People who were there explained all of this, and no one cared. "Just excuses."

Meanwhile, he was suffering. We learned nothing from the pandemic. We learned nothing from Chadwick Boseman's death. When did everyone get so heartless and cruel?
