rant/ramblings below // sort of hiatus/explanation of absence

idk why but lately i’ve been lacking interest in fandom and writing for it. i think its a combination of me starting university and my mental health issues improving. i created my tumblr a year ago because i was heavily invested in anime fandoms as a result of depression and needing an outlet/escape. i spent countless hours reading fanfics and talking with people online about fandom, and i enjoyed it. i found a small community with people who shared similar interests as myself, some that i talk to regularly. but as the year went on and i received the necessary help i needed, i found myself healing and being able to interact with my friends from school more. 

now, this is not to say that people in fandoms and fanfic writers must have some sort of mental health struggle or that it’s only for the mentally ill. i do not believe that at all. it is also not to say that engaging in fandom is bad either; it is an amazing way to meet people around the world and connect with them on a shared interest. 

instead, my point is that i was intensely invested and active within fandom because i had little to no other outlets. and now that i have made new friends and received help (which i am beyond thankful for), i haven’t been able to maintain the same level of activity within the fandoms i used to love so much. 

and i feel bad about that. i love writing and being creative, but it’s just taken a backseat in my life. however, i am still here on the platform lurking and slowly chipping away at new pieces that i will publish when i get around to it. i still have so many wips and ideas that i want to explore, but i must put other aspects of my life before writing.
