Finally finished my video/interactive CV, having collaborated closely with Dee at Manchester Metropolitan University for the last year.

Having lots of students come through the doors at Laserlea with their projects at usually an early stage.  We very rarely get to see the finished product/piece.  So when we went around Manchester colleges and uni's graduate shows we went a little snap happy.
Firstly, we have Amber Hulme from Graphic Design at Stockport College whose project was inspired by the constant comparison English folk make, that other cultures, languages and social circles change and destroy the English language.
Here is what she said about it 'I decided to shine a little light onto this subject in the theme of Loanwords.
A Loanword or Borrowing is a word taken from a language and introduced and combined with another language, such as English. This is the basis to all languages but most commonly English, this is due to politics, wars and travel.
The English language is in fact made up of so many different tongues that very few words are solely 'English'. Therefore my piece contradicted these comments of 'destroying English' with the actual truth that English isn't in fact very English to begin with, it's multicultural and internationally influenced.'

We're totally in support of this great idea to bring back green spaces into the city.
On June 2nd 2013 at 9:45 am we began building our first “prototype park” on the Dobbins site.

On the back of £200 raised online and a few further donations on the day we:
Bought 62 sqm of turf
Laid our turf over 6 car parking spaces in the Eastern corner of the site
Paid for our car...

Poinant message laser cut from paper in lab this week about the Holocaust by Alicia Pfeffer. The smoke residue is part of the piece.
The one thing I can't believe is that people in her uni, had no idea what the Holocaust was!??

We often get asked how small we can engrave text and we thought that an experiment would help put it in perspective.  Sorry about the poor image but it was taken with our Iphone for speed.  We will put a proper one together and update.
Text size is 1.07mm
