Amento is my puppet druid in our curse of strahd campaign. Whenever he turns into animals, his colors stay the same (except for winter coat), and his little sprout follows him in each form. 💖

Pidlwick II and III 🎭

Amento has been having a stressful journey figuring out his past as Pidlwick III. In the castle he met his first failed version Pidlwick II, which definitely creeped him out.

Now he lives in denial saying that they look nothing alike (they do).

I wasn't too keen on the official design of Pidlwick II, so I just drew how I imagined him instead. Also our DM added in the story that he has a second face in the back of his head, and the head rotates 180 degrees between happy and sad expression when needed. It's so creepy I love it.

Amento is my reborn druid in Curse of Strahd campaign. I had no idea what the story was when I was designing him and decided he would be a puppet. It fits so well with the story it's almost uncanny.

Story of Frill being brought back is something that has been hiding in my folders for several years unfinished. I’m still not quite happy with it, but I guess it’s time to accept it and move on to something else. 

Frill is my DnD character. A skeleton bard with a lot of package to carry on his bony shoulders.

Amento is slowly getting his memories back, but at what cost? 💔

First Ireena just straight up told him that Jester outfit would look good on him (mmm...RUDE?!), then he dreamed about it the next night. Also he most likely met himself in the memories of the past and it really freaked him out. I imagine it being like hearing your own voice recorded and played back - you know it has to be you, but somehow it feels completely off. 

Amento is my wooden puppet druid I play on Curse of Strahd campaign! He’s a sweet little boy getting increasingly conflicted about his part in this all. 💦

Our DM made Amento with an AI, so I had to draw a fan art of them both 🤣 It is reassuring to know that my characters are too hard for the bot to draw correctly. AI Amento is so unsettling. 

Just a disclaimer, I’m not a fan of AI art - I think it is really hurting the art community - and I’m posting the first AI-generated piece here just to explain my own drawing under it.

Amento naked turnaround 🍑

Amento is my puppet druid who I play in our Curse of Strahd campaign. He can’t remember much about his past, but he has a weird scribble on his back that seems like a clue! No spoilers in the tags please! I don’t know much of it yet! 🙏🏻 We have found out that he probably was a jester in the castle 400 years ago, but how he turned into a puppet, I have no clue.

I got very annoyed by the fact that I couldn’t draw Amento in a way I wanted to, so I decided to make a full turnaround of him. I haven’t made one of my own character since Tim, so this was so much fun!

The wooden boy with the borrowed soul 🌱 Amento is the character I play in our Curse of Strahd campaign. He’s a wooden puppet druid - who apparently wasn’t a puppet at first at all! He is looking for his druid master Vladislava who disappeared one day leaving only her cloak and hat behind. Amento didn’t remember anything about his past at first, and the memories he is now getting back are making him just more confused. 💦

I got a drawing frenzy last weekend and drew Amento in so many outfits! His normal outfit consist of a cloak and a hat that were left behind by his master when she disappeared. Under the cloak he has his own Vistani clothes that he doesn’t remember where he got from. The night gown Amento borrowed once from another player when his own clothes were soaked, and the jester costume I drew because we found out that Amento was a jester in his previous life - it’s also what mini-Amento wears. 

I’ve been enjoying this campaign so much 💖

I love your Strahd character. I think mine and them would get along. Sotiris is also a resurrected druid with a large hat and a leaf cloak, though he's an old old man. His sister was a druid who pulled him into the roots to save his life, and he came back as a blight. Uses his big hat and cloak to hide his face in the same way. A sweet cowardly healer who turns savage with his Shillelagh Spear when you hurt his friends. And if he ever met Amento would feel a need to watch over this sweet and scary plant. Anyway love your art a ton, its so very Aesthetic~!

Ah thank you! Sotiris sounds like an amazing character. 💖 I think Amento might get confused about someone calling him a plant, but anyone with a leaf cloak would definitely become his friend, hehe. 🌱

Hi, that's so cool you worked on Wolfwalkers! 🐺 I went to see it with a 6th grader family member once its Norwegian dub played in theatres this fall; she loved it, gave it 12 stars out of 10! and praised the movie's refreshing animation style. I saw your "wolfvision" smoke trail demonstration recently, which brings me to my question: Were these scenes in any way inspired by Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Link's wolf-form's sensing mechanic in particular? That's what they reminded me of!

Ah thank you! Sorry taking my time answering this, I've been quite absent from the social media lately. Wolfwalkers is one of the favorite projects I've worked on and the final movie is just amazing!

Heh, I am a big Zelda fan I have to admit. I remember Tomm asking for ribbons that hang in the air so that's what I went for - I was thinking those ribbons that dancers swish around and form different patterns in the air with. I don't think I was trying to reference Twilight Princess, but it might have happened unconsciously. We always store stuff that inspire us somewhere down in our memories, and might use those things as inspiration even without thinking about it. ✨

Finding yourself in a store you have no memory of 🎭

Couple sketches of our party’s shenanigans in Barovia. I’m playing a wooden doll druid called Amento. 🌱 So far Amento got a mini-Amento in a store and he’s now quietly obsessed with it. Maybe he thinks it could become his little brother? Our bard Eustebio wanted to snoop around with our rogue Tera and asked Amento to tag along, and he gladly did - not because he had any need to snoop, but because he thought it was a sweet thing to ask him to join. So while the two of them made their plan, Amento followed quietly behind, just being happy to be included. 

And of course the second we split the party, the rest of them got attacked with a bat explosion.

As we are playing Curse of Strahd, I’ll try to keep my posts as spoiler free as possible, but I’ll tag this just in case.

I love the design and character of Fredrik, he sounds so lovable, would you mind sharing the build just out of curiosity?

Sure! It's not a secret! He's (now) a level 12 Warforged Fighter with Knight background and Purple Dragon Knight archetype. We were allowed to do the "roll 4d6 drop lowest" stats and I happened to roll very high - and I was overjoyed that the DM let me to keep the stats I got. I've been also rolling the hit points for him, so I have slightly higher than the average HP at the moment. (although in the last level-up I sadly rolled 1)

He's not min-maxed in any way, but the highest-level character I've ever played. So to me he feels super strong with silly quirks like that +11 persuasion he got - and some spells through feats we were allowed to use instead of ability score improvement.

Also, I've seen people not usually liking the purple dragon knight as it's weak compared to the other archetypes, but I rather play a weak character that I like, than a min-maxed one that I don’t. Sir Salmiakki is a charmer tank and that's how I want him to be. 🤖💖

Every year we do a secret santa drawing exchange with my original DND group and one time I got our DM @lhoandbehold‘s name in the draw. These are their awesome NPC characters from our campaign: an elf sorcerer king Darathan and his half-orc husband Eghan, who's secretly a dragon. 🧝‍♂️❤️🐲

Present for the servant of Lathander 🌱☀️ A bunch of Amento sketches! The first picture is a memory from our first session when Amento gave a flower to our paladin Matra. Amento is my wooden doll druid which I play in our Curse of Strahd Campaign. He’s shy and kind young boy who doesn’t remember anything about his past life before meeting his druid master Vladislava. She taught him the basics of druidic secrets and proved him that “everything is alive”, by growing a little sprout on his head.

Unfortunately, a year later Vladislava disappeared leaving behind her cape and hat that Amento now wears while looking for her. Under the cape he wears Vistani clothes - although he can’t remember how he got them or where.

I also have a cantrip called primal savagery that makes the druid grow fangs and claws that they can attack with, and I like to think that Amento turns pretty scary-looking when using it. He bit a chunk out of zombie’s butt in the last session so I guess the cantrip works well.

Amento’s first proper memory is being rescued from a swamp by an old druid called Vladislava, who became his teacher and druidic master, teaching him the most important thing: “everything is alive”.

A year later Vladislava disappeared leaving behind only her hat, cape and mysterious letter. Unfortunately Amento doesn’t know how to read, so he collected her clothes and decided to find someone who could help him to read the letter.

I play Amento in a Curse of Strahd campaign that we started couple months ago and I’ve been having a blast! We decided with the DM that she will write his backstory and I don’t know what’s going on more than Amento does - so it has been quite thrilling trying to figure out where he came from and why.

One pic from my old stash of Frill drawings that I never posted - probably because I’ve been thinking they’re quite heavy and dark in tone. I’m wondering if people would be up for reading them? It’s mostly about Frill’s past and how he ended up as an undead skeleton.
