Been thinking about the Mayor Pete comments about trans athletes.

At first I was furious at him, but then I stopped to think about it for a bit.

Mayor Pete has always billed himself as center left, in a party that on the world stage is considered to be center right leaning.

Of course we'd hate what he said on the subject. But here is where I think my anger truly lies. Why are we looking at a center candidate to combat a fascist party?

I've been alive for more than 40 years, I've seen 7 people hold the office of president. 4 AFP (American Fascist Party) and 3 for the Democrats, who all billed themselves as some version of center left (remember they are really center right at heart)

The idea is to put out someone to reach across the isle and coax the country back from the brink.

Trouble is, it's crap. Even if the center was your end goal, you need to move the needle as fast as you can. That's what the other team is doing. We have to start pushing progressives, at all levels.

Personally I want to go way farther left than just the center, but the process is the same either way. If we keep trying to inch our way back, while they are moving full speed ahead, then we wind up getting drug into fascism.

I know this seems rather pro establishment for someone who claims to be an anarchist, but there are a lot of paths that lead to a better future, and true freedom. There is no reason not to take a little time to go cast your vote. If you voted in bother primaries and official elections that's only about twice every 2 years you have to do much of anything.

Spend the rest of your time building a community, mutual aid, learning and practicing new ways to find that better path.

Let's hear it for the USA Roller Derby Team, and the statement they released, in lieu of playing the national anthem at the Roller Derby World Cup.

I'm not going to quote it all here because they deserve you going to their socials and interacting with the post there.

Dear Queer community,

Please stop rage-baiting yourselves. You may see a lot of people defending a topic you feel strongly about. It might feel like someone is attacking those groups from inside our community. For example: "I don't care what anyone says, Sorbet counts as icecream"

This sentence gives the impression that there is some detractor out there who believes Sorbet doesn't use dairy and there for does not qualify as icecream. Which, is not the case, Ive never heard anyone say that, ever.

Let's say you feel strongly about sorbet being included in the icecream umbrella and you see my post implying someone else thinks it is not icecream. What should we do?

Let's change the narrative. Instead of combative language, let's show our support of the sorbet. Thus, if there is a debate raging outside of our echo chamber, we've showed our support, if there isn't a debate at all, we've avoided adding another straw man to our imaginary enemies side.

Yes, I know rage-bait gives more clicks, likes, reposts all that, but hey maybe if we start joy-baiting that will be the new trend!

Listen, it's rough everywhere and unless you're a millionaire+ or a government I'm not asking for your money for any society, but I wanna let you know what's happening because of the tarrifs and the shenanigans ole number 47 is up to, along with the rampant occurrence of natural disasters, there is a severe shortage of pet food donations.

2 of the brands that donated the most to the organization I work for are Canadian companies who are not currently doing charity in the US. What little we have is, rightly, being funneled to natural disaster victims.

That leaves a shortage falling on city organizations and food pantries like the one I work for. This comes at a time when prices are skyrocketing everywhere.

I don't expect any of you to solve this problem. I'm not looking for answers. This is to make you aware of what is happening.

Stay safe and more importantly than doing the most good is to look around and do the good you can.
