I'm someone who unfortunately, often lets details go unnoticed, so hearing the costume designer for s4 call this el outfit her "will look" just turned a switch in my mind, bc yeah it's pretty clear that eleven dresses herself differently in s4 compared to how she dressed in s3 but OMG, it's not just the clothes it's the hair too, everything about her reminds us of will. This scene with Mike between them it's crazy, it's like he's between the gender bent versions of the same person and now he has a choice to make iykyk....

i actually never fully acknowledged the fact that will made a presentation on alan turing as his hero. i’ve always looked at it as yet another hint for the audience but, in character and text, it’s sooo important…not only does it mean that he precisely came to terms with his sexuality, but that he’s allowing himself to be inspired by other gay men instead of completely internalizing the homophobia (unlike someone we know). and he was open to talking about it in front of the whole class even after being bullied his whole childhood in indiana for being (perceived as) gay?? we don’t talk about this enough i swear

Why did it just clicked now for me that Will chose Alan Turing as his hero to present in front of the class??? Eleven chose Hopper, so she made a model of Hopper's cabin, and Will chose Alan Turing as his hero so he made a presentation, I'm gonna cry I love him so much

ok u guys can call me sensitive and all but as a queer person who's very aware that homophobia is still a big thing in the year of 2025 and is very afraid to come out, having byler be endgame would mean the world to me. last week I went to my first pride parade and I cannot express how happy I was being surrounded by people like me that can relate to the struggles of being queer and on top of that, at the same time I felt so safe, it was super crowded, loud music, people drinking and singing and still I was super happy about being there. Everyone should feel safe and happy everyday of their lives without being afraid of judgment or something worse happening to them, I need the duffer brothers to let will be happy, just this once, he deserves this, WE DESERVE THIS we need to have this type of representation, the type that gives us hope for the future and makes the wait worth it.

People keep saying that Byler and Rockie will make the show "too woke" but like, the show is already pretty damn "woke."

A) One of the main antagonists of the show, besides all of the supernatural shit, is LITERALLY the U.S. government. The U.S. army and scientists are VILLAINS.

B) Some of the main antagonists, i.e. Troy and Billy, are literally antagonists BECAUSE of the fact that they are RACIST BULLYING ASSHOLES. Lonnie is an antagonist because he's a HOMOPHOBIC ABUSER.

C) Eddie "Forced Conformity is Killing the Kids!!" Munson is literally one of the MAIN CHARACTERS of s5. And he's idolized by several of the other leads (namely Mike and Dustin).

D) There are already TWO confirmed queer characters, Robin and Will, who canonically have crushes on other characters.

E) The four main kids are a DND group. NERDS. They're obsessed with science and weird supernatural shit. And again, one of them is ALREADY confirmed to be gay. The whole point is to celebrate weirdness and differences.

F) This is less of an official point and more of an idea, but many of the main characters are extremely coded towards being neurodivergent (Mike, El, Robin, Will, Jonathan, etc), which has somehow become a "woke" thing, at least in America.

Confirming more queer characters wouldn't make Stranger Things "more woke." The show is already relatively "woke." You just don't see it because you don't care about the ideology of a SCIENCE FICTION HORROR show until a queer couple or two is involved.

(Also, there's already like a million canon straight couples. 2 out of all of the rest isn't even that crazy of a ratio. And if you count the number of straight to confirmed queer characters, it's even smaller. It's not "woke" to have representation for people that EXIST.)

i will always mourn the fact we didn't get will's presentation about alan turing. it'd have given the duffers the chance to make will's nerdy and curious personality and some other personal information about his character more evident to the ga. it was such a missed opportunity.

sometimes I think it's so funny how the party is depicted to be nerds and outcasts but at the end of the day all of them are in relationships or had people crushing on them

lucas and max are dating each other

mike and eleven are dating each other (and will has a crush on mike)

and as far as we know will had 3 girls crushing on him (and mike if we count him in)

like, they are the most desired group of losers I have ever seen lmao

it would be the perfect song, especially because of the lyrics "pushed around and kicked around always a lonely boy" they have te perfect opportunity to use the scene where Troy pushes mike to the ground in s1

So, we all know about Smalltown Boy. Which is obviously gay symbolism (I know what you are Mike Wheeler). But the lyrics about running away?? I definitely feel like it’s gonna be his vecna song. I’m just imagining him having a “running up that hill” moment to this song. What do you guys think? It would be so epic.

genuinely that scene where Mike tells Dustin that El saved the world twice makes no sense. why is it there? does it matter? in what world was it a necessary scene? seriously, the cheer squad is doing their thing and we randomly cut to the middle of their conversation only to cut back to the cheer squad again? its completely unnecessary. unless... it was to show that Mike still only views El through the lens of her abilities.

the thing i love about them basically debuting will's new look with this specific picture is. i mean. look at it. they're framing him so specifically. they clearly took a lot of care with the angling, the outfit, the lighting, the whole aura. they made sure he looked handsome. THE DUDE HAS A GOLDEN GLOW.

like.... c'mon. when they showed gaten's season five look it was not given all this pizazz. do u know what i'm going for here? they didn't even do that with everybody's favourite puppy dog steve harrington. papa netflix's favourite pumpkin pie didn't get the golden glow. william byers got the glow. okay.

they didn't just want to give him a new outfit, the audience is supposed to have a new perspective. the aim is for it to feel like a transformation. this is not his "gets rejected and is really sad about it" look. this is a "gets the man" look.

he was already canonically attracting attention in season four, but his costuming was simplistic with an emphasis on making noah look youthful - we were told how he looks by other character's reactions to him more than anything the framing was doing.

this definitely feels like they wanted his s5 look to read as lead character with a romantic plotline energy. we're supposed to be taking will seriously both when it comes to the plot and romantically. season five he's "growing into himself as a man" or whatever? yeah. he's smooching a dude on the mouth absolutely. mike wheeler get ready

I find it interesting when ppl make will all shy and stuttering all the time when actually that's mike. mike is such a stutterer and much more unsure of himself in arguments. meanwhile will knows wtf he wants to say and says it with his chest. I don't think he stutters once in any of his and mike's arguments
