Hellooooo long time no post

I hope all of you are doing well. ❤ I'm so sorry for being inactive the past couple of years(?!?!??!), life has been so rough to me tbh. This year, I made a huuuuge life change in June and I left my longtime job of working on a racehorse farm so that I could move 15 hours away to live with my bf. It's been very different. So since then I've been working nonstop at a new job at a hospital and I'm just trying really hard to get through school so I can get a good paying job to afford horses again. I'm really excited right now though because I was JUST hired at a new horse barn and I start this weekend, so after 5 months I'm finally gonna be back in the horsey world. 😎🐴 I put it off for a long while because I was honestly so burnt out and depressed ever since my 2 horses died, but now I'm starting to get that little spark back and I now have the energy to get back into it.

Soooo with that, I might also become more active on tumblr. Because for some reason I tie my horse obsession with tumblr even though my blog isn't really even about horses at all so idk why my brain does that?????? But yeah I miss AFTG and the fandom and I miss all of y'all 🥺

if you may, can you give us a small idea of an A/K/N scene draft you had when they were supposed to be a thing?

I’m not generally comfortable digging up old drafts for several reasons ((which surprisingly don’t include how poor the characterizations were or how awful the narrative was))— I don’t mind talking about the changes and referring to things that used to be, but digging through deleted scenes themselves is always hit & miss. It took me so long to be happy with the story that I try not to upset that mental peace, y’know? But I’m halfway through a second bottle of wine and this’ll distract me from throwing my external harddrive out the bedroom window.

Imagine the obligatory disclaimers/warnings: skewed characterizations, terrible editing, non-canon interactions, etc etc etc. These scenes are from 5~6 years ago, so they’re a bit rough. o___O

Gonna go ahead and tag @andrewminyardd for posterity, ha.

sorry but I refuse to believe the Ravens didn't know how violent and depraved Riko truly was... you're telling me Jeremy, Laila and Cat figured it out after only spending a few weeks with Jean but the Ravens had no idea how bad it was, despite being stuck in confined spaces together on a near-constant basis for years?

Like, Jean changed out in front of them regularly. They would have seen his injuries and his scars hidden beneath his shirt. There is absolutely no way they did not know what was happening to him.

Not to mention the fact that 5 of them willingly participated in Riko's violence and raped a teenage boy who very clearly did not want to be there!! You're telling me none of them realized how fucked up Riko was to arrange that? And none of them tried to back out when they realized what exactly Riko was having them do??

You're telling me none of them saw Kevin and Riko facing off on the court and then Kevin's hand getting destroyed immediately after, forcing him to leave the team?? You're telling me nobody on the Ravens pieced together what happened?? That none of them realized just how dangerous Riko was becoming?

Part of it could be explained away as part of their cult programming, yes. And for some of them, there was probably also a degree of willful ignorance involved, of choosing not to look too closely and see the truth before them.

But lets remember that they didn't know the team was a front for the mob, they didn't know Tetsuji and Riko were yakuza. As far as they knew, the only risk reporting the abuse was getting kicked off the team and losing a scholarship. Their reasons for choosing to stay silent were entirely selfish.

I don't know about y'all, but if I'm a freshman Raven coming in and I'm seeing all this shit happening, I'm not sticking around long enough for the cult programming to set in. I'm transferring schools and blowing the fucking whistle. And yeah, the yakuza would probably come for me and I'd be mighty surprised when they did, but it'd be better to do that than to be complicit.

Personally, I think Jean is only choosing to believe the other Ravens didn't know because some part of him wants to think that if they had known the full scope of what was happening to him, they'd have done something to intervene; or at least, they'd have been kinder to him.

But the truth is, they knew. Every single one of them knew. And they did nothing to try and stop it.

The King's Men - Chapter Fourteen

Day: Saturday, March 9th / 10th* Time: 3:48 PM EST

"So the attitude problem wasn't an act, at least," Andrew says. "I was going to tell you," Nathaniel says. "Stop lying to me." "I'm not lying. I would have told you last night, but they were in our locker room." "They who?" Browning asks. Nathaniel switches to German without missing a beat. He is pretty sure he earns a dirty look from Browning for that trick, but he won't take his eyes off Andrew to look. "Those weren't security guards that came for us. They were there for me, and they would have hurt all of you to get me out of there. I thought by keeping my mouth shut I could keep you safe." Nathaniel still has his hands up by Andrew's face, so he lightly taps a thumb against the bruise at Andrew's eye. "I didn't know they'd staged a riot." "What did I tell you about playing the martyr card?" Andrew asks. "You said no one wanted it," Nathaniel says. "You didn't tell me to stop." "It was implied." "I'm stupid, remember? I need things spelled out." "Shut up." "Am I at ninety-four yet?" "You are at one hundred," Andrew says. "What happened to your face?" Nathaniel swallows hard against a rush of nausea. "A dashboard lighter." He winces at the awful sound Nicky makes. The groan of a quickly- shifting mattress almost swallows up Aaron's ragged curse. Nathaniel looks back without thinking, needing to see who is on the move, and see's Aaron has rolled off the bed to go stand with Nicky. Turning means the others get a look at his burned cheek. Kevin recoils so hard he slams into the wall behind him. He claps a protective hand over his own tattoo and Nathaniel knows he is imagining Riko's reaction to this atrocity. This time it is Dan stopping Matt from getting up, her knuckles white against his dark shirt and her head turned away. Matt starts to fight free but settles for a hoarse, "Jesus, Neil. The fuck did they do to you?"
