Life is unpredictable. One day you’re looking at engagement rings with the guy you planned to spend the rest of your life with... then 6 months later, he’s having a baby with someone he barely even knows. You can go from having absolutely nothing, not even your sanity, to being blessed with everything your heart desires in a matter of weeks. You can go from being happy to severely depressed, from lost to found, from top to bottom and everything in between. My point is, you never know which way the ebbs & flows of life will carry you, you just have to hold your breath and pray that the bad times fade and the good times never drift away. Embrace life’s journeys for exactly what they are- experiences that take you to different places within yourself. I envy the way our moon is loved... When the moon is full, The world is enamored by how it fills the sky, Illuminating bright light, It’s beauty & wonder in plain sight. I don’t want to fall in love again, I’m still trying to fall out of it... I’m lost in the abyss Between hopeful bliss & loneliness. The fall feels endless, Like I’ll never reach the bottom. My love just feels forgotten, And here I am, just falling... Maybe I keep stalling, Because I can’t keep my heart from calling... But you won’t answer... So I fall faster, But still too slow. I hate that I still love you, Long after you let me go. I’ve tried to break my fall, But I keep grabbing things unsteady, My heart just isn’t ready. I know my soul was empty but I pray you don’t regret me. Because even though you pushed me off, I felt it in the way that you held me- Your regret begets longing. I know that you still love me, I heard it in your crying. You pushed me and then felt sorry. And now you can never find me. You thought I’d fall deeper. But this free-fall took me higher, It turned me to a flier. I mastered the art of soaring, Embraced the fall & started floating, The elevation was a revelation, & I realized I never want to fall again. We’ve got to stop feeding the narrative that pretending to be okay and moving on quicker than you’re ready to, is acceptable. It’s not okay. People don’t even realize that they’re damaging themselves more for not taking the time to go through the motions before masking the real emotions that lie beneath the surface. I keep placing pieces of my heart into the hands of people who don’t understand the value of what they’re holding. I’m afraid that I’m missing something, that I lack what it takes to find lovers that are trustworthy and deserving. Or maybe it’s me, maybe my heart keeps dulling in their grasp, so they abandon it to find better lighting. Maybe my heart isn’t meant to be held by anyone but me right now. Maybe there’s something about love that is deeper than I’ve figured out, and until I crack the code, my heart will keep going cold when others touch it... and I’m tired of that lonely numbness.
