Alot going on in life recently, I have been satisfactorily productive, but there is just so much more to dooo😭😭😭 But I like my days right now-- this is the kind of busy that I enjoy, where my time is spent doing things I care for - my academics, my friends and hobbies (I haven't been painting these days). Watched movies, went on long walks, danced in the rain 🥹 journalled, attended classes, studied in the library, had a random dance party with one of my bestie. Good days:)

Learning to live in the Present Moment

Honestly I have not studied in 4 days. I feel scared and overwhelmed about the grades of an exam I have not written yet. I am too afraid of what the future holds for me.

I was trying to go over DCS slides today. Since it is the subject I find easy, I thought I will go through it first. After finishing one of the ppts, I just didn't want to study anymore. I felt the weight of the ppts that had to be finished and the lack of time.

Then I sat and thought that I am too worried about what's gonna happen 4 days later. It's good to be a player of the long game but not when it's suffocating the present. I need to focus on what I will do in the next two hours. It’s like walking with a flashlight at night. You don’t need to see the whole road—just the few steps in front. That’s enough to keep moving.

I just need to keep moving. I don't need to think of the last presentation, just the one that I need to study now.

So I will go to study that. Btw I am listening to The Night we met. It's beautiful.

So I had my CP exam today. Went awful, ngl. I know I prepared alot, and I know I enjoy doing it. I just feel I need more time to practice it, and get a good grasp of it. Just three months as a semester course are not enough. But honestly, the course has given me a kickstart and I plan on doing it regularly now, just for my enjoyment.

I might also be doing an online internship under the same dreaded prof I did my winter internship under(⁠๑⁠•⁠﹏⁠•⁠) More about it later.

I plan on working on my AO project today and tomorrow, and prepare the theory on 23rd. Exam is on 24th. I hope my plan works🤞

Update: got something of a result in the project. I was slightly unproductive today°_° but it's okay, will make up for it tomorrow

I had watched this video in my 4th semester while studying Data Structures and Algorithms, and for some reason I hadn't been able to really appreciate the power of binary representation for this problem.

Coming back to this again in my 6th semester as a part of my Competitive Programming course, I was blown away this time. It is elegant solutions like these that increase my conviction that I love this side of Computer Science: algorithms and mathematics. Do watch if you want to have 14 minutes of cool and simple mathematics.

Update: 03:19 pm. Solving some programming problems, and after a long time, having fun doing that. (plus, listening to bossa nova mixes(～￣▽￣)～)

Update: 02:07 am. Now I know that even if I flunk my exam, I did my best preparation.

Syllabus:

26th April Algorithms: FFT, greedy problems, dynamic programming, matroids, Amortized Analysis, Heaps, Pattern Matching.

28th April Digital Circuits and Systems: Combinational Circuits, Sequential Ciruits, Counters and Registers, Memory devices for computers

28th April Electromagnetic Theory: Electrostatics, Potentials, Electric Field in matter, Magnetostatics, Magnetic fields in matter, Electrodynamics, EM waves, Tlines and Antenna Theory

29th April Principles of Communications: CH 2,3,4,5,6,7,10

I plan to finish studying these chapters once and revise them a day before the exam. I have Lab exam on 19th and I have to finish and submit project report by tonight.
