Martin Courtney, of Real Estate fame, will release his solo debut next month. It’s going to be called Many Moons, and from what we’ve heard, it shouldn’t stray too far from Real Estate’s easy listening vibe. Check out this single and grab the album next month.

Here’s to hoping we will have another Raconteurs album someday, someway. Enjoy my favorite track by them, the video version is a special live edition that’s not on the album. Enjoy!

Wanna-Gonna is a very fresh Japanese indie-rock group. This track just popped up on their sound clod and I had to share it. It’s like a Japanese folk-rock mashup, great music for a beautiful autumn day.

Toro y Moi dropped this mixtape on Soundcloud last month! It’s hella hip-hop and a bit out of his norm. Cop the whole mixtape on soundcloud or from his website.

D'Angelo - Sugah Daddy
D'Angelo is back with that same old soulful vibe. This is the single off his new album, Black Messiah, and it's sure to get your head groovin'. Plus he's got ?uestlove on drums, who can complain about that?

Dry & Heavy - New Creation
I would never believe this band was from Japan! They have such a rootsy feel, but some tracks are blended with an almost Jahwaiian sound as well. When you sit back and take in the whole picture, they are so Japanese, but just listening to one track, you would never know. By far this is my favourite J-Reggae band.

Little Tempo - Musical Brainfood
If the sound of steel drums doesn't make you smile then you need to see a shrink. Little Tempo is a Japanese outfit that's been around for a bit over a decade now. This song feels like it could be on the soundtrack of the next Mario game. It's so live, with the Caribbean and latin sounds all together, it's quite a nice ensemble. Also, be sure to watch the video!

Dubsensemanina - Wonderful
The sound exactly what to expect from the name. They sing mostly in English and have heavy dub influences, think King Tubby and more European dub feels mixed in with a good old roots vibe. The Melodica has the perfect sound for dub and it works great in this tune. Enjoy the vibes.

J-Reggae Updates
Coming from japan, this week I've got an update of some rising sun reggae for all of y'all. Japan's known for some freezing winters and "パウダースノー” (P a u d a a   S u n o  - Powder Snow), but they know how to keep it irie too. Check out some J-Reggae and J-Dub this week and keep warm through the winters.

So, Cold War Kids released their fifth studio album today entitled Hold my Home and honestly I am pretty freaking stoked about it. Nathan Willett consistently gives us soulful/goddamn awesome vocals with the signature CWK sound we've come to know and love. However, this album feels a little different. A little more decomposed in parts and a little more technically pleasing than earlier LPs. Overall, this band can do NO wrong in my eyes. But tell us what you think!
First Listen Favorite: Drive Desperate. This song reminds me of cowboys and other important things.
Tell us what your favorite track is! Now streaming on spotify :) But you can buy the album at www.coldwarkids.com (hint hint...support awesome musicians)

Not-So-New Album Review #1
Burning Airlines - Mission: Control! (1999)
J. Robbins, a man who has been known around the post-punk/hardcore scene in the late 90's and early 00's created this interesting band with his former bandmate Bill Barbot from Jawbox. Burning Airlines, an interesting name, took a whole new meaning after the September 11 attacks in New York. This proved to be a difficulty for the band when many venues refused to broadcast the name "Burning Airlines," on their bills.
The album plays nicely, and you can get the songs bouncing around your head after just one listen. I have left and revisited this album many many times over the years. One of the most striking aspects to the album is just how tight the trio is. It's definitely more poppy that their preceding Jawbox tracks, but it's so tight and catchy that it just works. The drums are grooving, the guitar riffs and melodies bounce right on top and keep it alive, and J. Robbins' low range voice brings it all together.
All in all, its a steady rock album and definitely worth a good listen. The first half is more tame and steady rocking, while the last half pics up the pace and the mood. This will definitely get your head rocking!

Mac Demarco - Blue Boy
Keeping the vibe relaxed, his guitar melodies seem to flow like ocean waves on a sunny day. If you're in the mood to kick back and relax, Mac Demarco will totally set the mood for you. Enjoy the summer time and keep this in the summer playlist.

From their latest release, "Young and Old," with the same good sound. This album is a perfect summer soundtrack for trips to the beach and chilling with your friends. Enjoy
