Ah... Valentine’s day. A day of love and affection… and Edgeworth’s sweet, sweet revenge.
(...or not.)
Inspired by that one 4koma where Phoenix finds bunny ears in Edgeworth’s drawer in his office and imagines… things. Side note: I hc Phoenix likes to sleep with his head buried in Miles’ chest because he can feel his heartbeat and that relaxes him, making it easier for him to stay asleep. Phoenix’s greatest fear is to lose the people he loves, so he probably has nightmares about it sometimes. Miles’ steady heartbeat gives him ease. Miles is alive, so is everyone else, everything is ok.
…Also have you seen his chest in the official artwork? That’s gotta be comfy!
Happy Valentine's everyone, may it be full of narumitsu and love!

Been reading some Perry Mason books. My brain is already adapting some scenes into narumitsu everyday nonsense, like this one:
Wright, calling Edgeworth's office: Heya, Miles--
Edgeworth: How many times do I have to remind you? No flirting during working hours! And remember, you just got lucky in the last trial. You won't the next time.
Wright: Actually I'm calling on behalf of a client of mine.
Edgeworth: Oh, sorry. What's the matter?
Wright: He wants a complaint.
Edgeworth: On what?
Wright: On a howling dog.
Edgeworth: ...A what?
Wright: A dog. It howls. Mostly at night but sometimes in the daytime--
Edgeworth, yelling: Listen! Can you be normal for just one day? If you haven't got anything better to do for your life, go bother someone else! I'm busy!
(Of course it is turns out to be a big case later but man I'd love to see they start a case like this lol)
#Edgeworth would’ve taken it professionally if it was anyone else who made the same call#like the district attorney in the book#he just can’t be normal with his dear silly husband#btw Perry mason is also about an attorney saving his clients in court by finding the true culprit#narumitsu#ace attorney#my post#aa brainrot

Can't take my mind off the possibility of Phoenix Wright being the descendant of the "Watson" of the AA universe.
I know it's a matter of shipping but let's say Ryunosuke married Susato and that's the bloodline that led to Wright (I like how they localized the names and nationality for AA but didn't/couldn't for GAA but still kept the ancestor-descendant relation), and since Susato's dad is the real partner of Sholmes, it gives Wright something really cool to brag about.
Also, we can see in GAA how smart Yujin is. He's not just sitting there waiting for Sholmes to give him the answers but makes a lot of impressive deductions himself. His intelligence is probably on par with the greatest detective. Sort of explains how Wright just switches from art to law and passes the bar exam like it's a piece of cake. This guy's got some good genes.

Have to add a bit more how there legal system literally works "case by case".
Although it seems to be true for most cases that the penalty for murder is the death penalty, the culprit of 1-1 gets an incredibly lenient sentence. He appears in AAI2 and he is about to be released (it's only been like 4 years?) until getting involved in another case.
Illegally obtained evidence appears all the time and nobody gives a hoot but somehow becomes an issue when Wright records Kristoph's letter and presents it as evidence.
As above, illegal search is never a problem except when Edgeworth does it AAI 2-4.
Random new evidence shows up all the time in court and is all accepted, except in 1-5, where you must prove the evidence is relevant or register it beforehand.
Also, rarely any new evidence is verified and it seems to be fine, unless the evidence is problematic and they magically know and have it checked, such as the suicide note in 2-4.
The jury system is a one-shot.
Some of these could be explained by gameplay purpose but even so it is hilarious.
I love the incredibly fair and functional justice system in Ace Attorney

Thinking about Wright being hired as a special counsel in a case involving some higher-ups of the public prosecution department, or any case that for some reason the client insist getting an independent prosecuting attorney.
Not sure if that's a thing in Japanese legal system but since the AA universe especially the legal system is so delightfully chaotic and localizations make it even more so, I guess this idea could work.
Given how corrupted AA's prosecutor's office is I can totally envision Edgeworth losing his prosecutor's badge for fighting against the corruption in the system and Wright takes on prosecuting the individuals responsible for all the issues.
Also I love how you get to debate with Wright in AA6. I hope we get more of these "battling your fellow defense attorneys" levels in the future games (fingers crossed). With the special counsel setting it's probably possible to do that without anyone keeping getting kidnapped. It's really getting old after happening so many times lol
And if there's a new AAI game with Edgeworth being the playable character, he can temporarily takes on defense attorney's role (either because of losing his badge or similar to 3-5 that he just...breaks the rule and pretends to be a defense attorney for some reason) and fights special counsel Wright in court. I'd give anything to see that happen.
#I hope capcom sees this and at least give it a thought XD#ace attorney#phoenix wright#miles edgeworth#narumitsu#random ideas

Ahhhh thank you for checking it out! That makes sense. The logic of original/TC ver. is simple: Gumshoe says he gets trounced by Wright in the dreams and Edgeworth is like I'd like to try but of course the being trounced part is not included.
Somehow SC coveys a bit more focus on Edgeworth wanting to beat Wright this time, making him more obsessed than just mentioning winning.
Sadly English localization lost "that/a certain" lawyer entirely thus the meaning changed. Idk why.
Also it's amazing they got totally different SC and TC versions. They are not different languages but used by different groups of people. It's like having British English and American English localizations and it's not just spelling but everything else is different, such as talking like Americans or British. The level of localization of AA series is legendary.
It's fascinating how many subtle differences localizations make in Ace Attorney.
In AAI1-1, when investigating the sofa in the waiting area. English ver.:
However in simplified Chinese ver.:
Gumshoe says something like: I always get trounced by a certain lawyer in the dream. And Edgeworth's thought is like: I'd like to try sometime. This time surely I'll win.
That's two entirely different dialogues. The simplified Chinese ver definitely hints they are thinking about Wright while the English one is just about any lawyers.
Checked the traditional Chinese ver. as well. It's something in between these two. Basically Gumshoe is also talking about a certain lawyer, but Edgeworth's thought is basically the same as the English ver.
I can't read Japanese but I am curious what it is like originally. If I take a guess it's probably close to the traditional Chinese ver.
Anyway, if I could draw even remotely decent I'd like to make a terrible doodle of Edgeworth sleeping on that sofa and grunting and mumbling Wright's name. All passers-by think he's having some R18 stuff in his dream but it's actually just an uphill battle in court. (And he still loses lol)

This is kinda interesting. Idk if the take was posted recently or a long time ago. If it's been a while I sort of understand, otherwise...seriously, there are AA456 already and we all see how it goes do we not? (ik some folks would be like only 1-3 are canon and everything else are garbage that do not count. Meh.)
I think the devs def put down "hints" of the Iris/Nick relationship, just because at the time the series was ending and it is a traditional way to end a story by having the main character happily in a relationship or dead or something.
But like, for real, "btw this guy got married with someone only appears at the last chapter" is just a weak ass way of making this kind of forced "happy ending". Given the storyline, it's not as bad as Arthur Conan Doyle being "let me pull this superduper villain who was never a thing before out of my ass just to kill off the main character", but it's pretty much the same kind of crap. It's basically "marrying off the main character" for the sake of having a "traditional ending", which is straightforwardly bad writing that most writing guide 101 books would advise against. If someone chooses to abide by the canon doggedly down to every letter, it's their choice, but there is a reason why even a writer as influential as ACD had to fix his trash ending and have the story going again. Shitty writings got rejected. That's it.
Also...it's not even canon set in stone lol it's hints and hints only and you can take or leave it. It's ultimately ambiguous. Like, Wright doesn't even say I still have feelings for you or similar lines. He says "I still believe in you". The point is that he believes the girl he once cared for is not an evil person. It's about him being a lawyer who knows how to trust even in a situation the most compromising to his faith in people. "Wright trusts people and judges characters correctly" is the theme here, not his romantic feelings.
If ppl absolutely must be homophobic and insist a woman on Wright, there are like tons of female characters that could fit the job. Those who are so obsessed with Iris/Nick never give a fuck about this ship. They keep bringing it up because and only because it's "canon" as if that makes them superior or something. Ugh.

saw an ace attorney take so bad I genuinely lost my vision for a few seconds out of pure rage I felt my heart rate going astronomical levels. what's the worst aa take you've ever seen

dog for joy and whimsy
