To Be Hero X’s Trailer is Immaculate - A Review

Okay I know I posted something yesterday but I just saw this video and HAD to write something about it! I’ll be discussing it below, but I recommend you watch the trailer first. With that out of the way, let’s get started! 

The video starts with X (why does he look like P5 Joker??) running late for something, but stopping to get something at a vending machine. Honestly, relatable. Though I wonder what he was running late for? I’ll get to my thoughts on that later. The soda also has the same name, which makes me wonder if he has his own brand of soda. He IS the highest ranked hero, so it is in the realm of possibility. 

But let’s be real here, we were all concerned for the dog. The cute chubby boy got YEETED!! It doesn’t state why the bad guy was beating him up, but I think it’s because the dog has powers too (If that good boy isn’t part of the movie I’m rioting >:/). Luckily X, being the chad he is, stops Mr. Mean Mask Man (not his actual name lol). How, you ask? Well it’s not exactly clear to me. The first time I watched it, I thought “oh god he turned that guy into a manga O_O”. But it seems that X’s snaps teleport him and whoever he wants into a pocket dimension based on his surroundings. We can see this as he fights the mask clones on the wall, sidewalk, and other city items. This isn’t all though, as when X snaps ON a car (not near it) it dematerializes, allowing him to reform it into a sword. He even brands his new sword with his branded X, a detail I find interesting. There’s most likely more to this though, as the music lyrics suggest he can “bend space and time”. 

And the music!!! The street vibes flow perfectly with X’s moves. It just fits him so well and it’s so refreshing to see such smooth and charismatic animation. The song’s called “New Type of Hero”, and I’ll definitely be adding this song to my playlist. Words just can’t describe how much I love this, so go listen to it again already!!

The graphics are truly full of the exaggerated swagger of an asian (not) teen… I’m so sorry for that shameless Miles Morales reference, but you gotta admit this does have some Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse vibes. Perhaps that movie was an inspiration for this one? I wouldn’t be surprised if that were the case. I love how the dimension teleports are symbolized with a snap so it’s not jarring to watch.

Now the world explanation at the end of the video: I don’t understand what “belief” for heroes means in this context. This may have been a translating error, but perhaps it’s similar to popularity? The heroes ARE competing for the best ranking, after all. I’m guessing the competition was what X was running late for earlier? Regardless, I know who I’ll be cheering for!

As you can see from the video linked above, this trailer is AMAZING. X’s iconic snap followed by seamless 2D and 3D transitions is nothing short of impressive! Let me know what you think in the comments, I’d love to discuss different theories! Until next time, have a nice day!

Super Paper Mario Recipe Ideas (Pt. 1)

Hello all! This is my first blog post and I wanted to talk about two things I love: Super Paper Mario and food! Note this will be a series of posts, and I will start with Saffron’s recipes first (the one-ingredient ones). Without further ado, let’s-a go!

Block Meal

I don’t know about you guys, but this looks pretty appetizing. To me it looks like a big cube of jello! Maybe lemon flavored since it has a lemon slice next to it. Making this would be very simple; just make a big, clear, lemon flavored jello cube with a piece of lemon on the side. 

Dayzee Syrup

As soon as I saw this, I noticed it looks a lot like Finest Call brand Blue Curacao Syrup. Curacao syrup is made from the Lahara fruit mainly made on the Curaçao island. There are both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions, so anyone can enjoy it. Since the Dayzee syrup is shown in a pitcher, I assume it’s supposed to be a sort of drink? For this, I would mix some curacao syrup with lemonade (about a 1:4 ratio). Then add some rose petals to fit the Dayzee vibe and boom! A cool drink with an even cooler color!

Fried Egg

It’s not the most unique thing on the recipe list, but there is room for personalisation. I myself just add salt and dig in, but one could add super shrooms, spit roast, any SPP ingredient really! The world (or in this case the egg) is our canvas, so do whatever’s most fun!
