"Don't leave yet," Phoenix mumbles, barely awake but holding onto Miles' sleeve like his life depended on it. His bed was barely big enough for both of them, but when the prosecutor left, it would feel so empty

Of course it's a day where their schedules lined up so neither had to be into their respective offices today or until much later this afternoon. It was still somewhat early, morning sunlight streaming through the blinds. Miles was going to get up, not exactly wanting to leave the comfort of the bed. But he relented, letting Phoenix pull him closer. He snuggled up to his, face burying in the other's shoulder.

"Alright. Not yet," he said softly.

wrightworth makes me sick because everything you think would be fanon is actually 100% canon like what do you mean phoenix became a lawyer because he wanted to ‘save’ miles. what do you mean that miles chartered an international flight because phoenix was in danger. what do you mean phoenix calls miles ‘daddy’ in the middle of court. what do you mean that miles is almost the entire reason phoenix became a lawyer again after being disbarred.

like I genuinely thought ‘phoenix visited miles in europe during the seven year gap’ was fanon but no!! that’s also canon!!! at this point it’s less gay if they just come out and say it!!!!

Miles picked up his phone, hearing it buzz after he got out of the shower. His towel was draped over his still wet hair to keep it from dripping onto his pajamas. He must have not hit send on his earlier message to let Phoenix he'd gotten home.

[ TXT ]: Sorry, just got out of the shower. Home safe. [ TXT ]: Forgot to hit send on my earlier message.

A pause. This felt like the similar messages he'd gotten when he was in the hospital from that poisoning incident. It would be best to reassure him that he was okay.

[ TXT ]: I'm just fine. I promise. Did something happen?

[ text ] -> Did you get home? (sent at 10:14 pm)

" ...at approximately 8:52 pm tonight, a car crash occurred on the bridge heading east. The authorities suspect the wet conditions caused the car to lose control and veer into oncoming traffic. Both of the drivers were taken to the hospital in critical condition, but neither of them survived..."

"I'm just nervous is all," he said softly. "I've never- I haven't-"

In court he was confident and articulate, able to argue any angle. But here? Here in the soft moonlight with his first and only love? Here where he was probably the most vulnerable he'd ever been in his life? He could barely stumble out his words.

"I've wanted this with you for so long, I just never imagined it would become real. Just... Please be patient with me." After so long of believing abuse from others was love, and actual love was unnecessary, real love was hard for him to define. But he knew the love from Phoenix was genuine and he wanted this with him. He really did.

Phoenix sits there, perched in between Miles' thighs, resting his cheek against the man's leg. Brown eyes gaze up at him as Miles' hand runs through his hair and lifts his chin.

( You have no idea, Edgeworth. I haven't stopped thinking about you since fourth grade. If I knew in college that I'd be here with you like this in my twenties... )

"Are you sure?" he asks after a moment. Of course, if this was too far, if he'd asked too much too soon... they could stop. They could sit here together instead. Just having Miles here is enough.

It's late. Phoenix is sure they won't be disturbed here at Wright & Co offices as he shuts the door behind them. He'll get on his knees for Miles with nothing but the moonlight coming through the open blinds.

He's a little hesitant but he eases back onto the couch, watching Phoenix. One hand runs fingers through the other's hair, moving to cup his face, tilting it up to look at him. "Are you sure about this?"

Miles's face was already flushed slightly, his heart fluttering in his chest. He's barely kissed Phoenix more than a few times, let alone what they were about to do.

Miles shook his head. "We both know that would be a severe conflict of interest. Especially as opposing councils."
