Hello!

First of all, thank you all so much for your tremendous patience and interest throughout the entire application process. We enjoyed reading through each and every app that was sent to us, and what they had to offer - and it was difficult assembling our roster. Very difficult. Even at roster essentially at max capacity, we still had to make tough choices. Rejection hurts - we’ve all been there, and it’s tough. Nevertheless, several factors had to be looked at, down to what characters fit and personality balances. This doesn’t mean your app was terrible, in fact the opposite is true, and every single one had something to offer. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer app critiques at this time, as we are busy people and have our hands full with game work.

With that said -- congratulations! We’re still working hard on assembling posts and working with our mastermind to finalize the plot, but in the meantime, we will hold a pregame period for the purpose of character interactions and getting to know one another. Anything established during this time will be considered canon, so no worries about having characters forget things.

Character icons are also available, drawn by Cam, a preview of which can be seen on the roster page. If you want icons/expressions for your characters, please PM him to sort things out.

Lastly, please PM a mod if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you again, and we look forward to the game! 

At the moment, the mods will be in the process of adding everyone to the Skype chatroom. Please be patient with us as we get everything organized.

Roster on schedule!

Hello again! We didn’t provide a specific time of day for the roster release when we last gave an update, but we have two pieces of good news on that front. One: we are on schedule. The roster should be coming out today. Two: The specific time to expect it will be at 9PM EST.

Thank you for being patient with us! The wait is almost over and we hope you’re as excited as we are!

Roster Incoming

We’ve had a few people asking us when we’re expecting the roster announcement to be made. As we ended up settling on a roster of 24 students, compiling everything for our intended set of art assets has taken more time than we anticipated, and we sincerely apologize for the delay. In the interests of transparency, the following progress has been made:

A roster has been chosen

All chosen students have been sorted into Clans

Roster icons have been completed

Signature spells for each character are in the process of being tweaked for wording, scope of power, et cetera

Background assets for the roster video are finished

All character sketches for the roster video are done

Some coloring of character art in the video has been completed

I’m extremely bad at math but if I had to spitball a percentage, I’d say we’re about 80% done. We are tentatively aiming for Saturday, February 24th as the roster release. If anything catastrophic happens to delay this, we will make an announcement in advance. Thank you for your interest and continued patience! In the meantime, here’s a teaser of the video.

Jokiku District is a closed, submission-based Danganronpa OC roleplay group set ten years after the events of Akedo City Despair. Knowledge or participation in the previous game is not required to apply.

Ten years after the Akedo City Disaster, the world had finally begun to heal the wounds left by Otome Ito. For years, the reputation of the once prestigious school was in tatters, as were the lives of those affected by the tragedy. After all this time, Hope’s Peak has once again established itself as a beacon of hope to all. Students continue to put forth their greatest efforts to strengthen mankind, and the Hope Projects resume their original purpose of improving society as a whole.

Now, as the 94th class of Hope’s Peak enters its first year, the wheels of despair once again begin to turn…

Yuuei, the school of heroes. Among many of its peers, Yuuei stands out at the grandest. Only the best of the best get in, a mere 1 out of 300 students who apply for the Hero Course. While acceptance here is not a promise of success, it is not uncommon. After all, almost all of the top heroes graduated from Yuuei. As future heroes, Yuuei students are expected to train all year long, even during their summer trip. However, some things don’t go a planned…

Utopia Anarchy is a submission based Dangan Ronpa/My Hero Academia based roleplay group that plunges a group of future heroes into the horror of a murder game! Rather than talents, Students will have Quirks. Applications close on March 15th!

It all feels like one big movie plot, at first. You are one of twenty young adults, the first batch of students granted the elusive titles of the Super High School Levels, and now you are also one of the only twenty people who are still aware.

Aware and awake and conscious, that the rest of Japan, a good one-hundred and twenty-seven million people, have inexplicably disappeared.

Or not, they’re still there. But much like a movie, they’re simply extras - you have never met the majority of the aimless, emotionless shadows that now traverse the place you call home, but even you should know that something is terribly, terribly wrong. As far as they are concerned, you don’t exist in their plane of sight or mind, and yet you can’t help but feel like you’re not supposed to either. 

The main characters are the only ones with the agency of choice, after all.

Maybe this is your time to shine. When you all still have your will, while the rest of Japan has lost its own. You’re free of any chains that once kept you from acting out your biggest dreams, from visiting places you only wish you could’ve been to as a child, and now that all the world is literally a stage, there’s nothing stopping you from getting away with everything under the sun.

There’s also the issue of the director-slash-mascot mentioning something about you being the future of humanity or whatever, but that’s not important, right?

Sleepless Citizens is a Skype and Tumblr-based Danganronpa roleplay group, focusing on a core group of twenty students participating in what can only be described as Inception-meets-TWEWY. With six chapters and the inclusion of highly anticipated experimental game mechanics, we hope that you will apply!

Features currently revealed to be used in this game include:

An open-ended setting where players can travel anywhere in Japan!

Sleepwalkers - The population of Japan, including people students know, are put into menial cycles of their original lives, dazed and out of consciousness. Without free will, they repeat their “lives” without interacting with the students.

How the heck did you guys get over 50 apps? Some RP groups can't even get 20 people, what's your secret?

This is a fairly tricky question to answer because there’s a lot of angles to cover here, but we’ll try our best!

1. Be mindful of timing. We made sure to keep the application period running over winter break, because a sizable plurality of the DRRP community is in high school or college (or their country’s equivalent thereof.) This gives people more time to write. Sometimes, this can also mean scheduling your closing period around other games and roster reveals-- partially as a courtesy to other mods. If things come up, or you’re not getting enough apps, don’t be afraid to extend the deadline. We had to, after all.

2. Good blog design. Sure, don’t judge a book by its cover, we all know that. But you still want to be able to read the book in question. Everything on your main blog should be readily accessible and readable to potential applicants, regardless of what their software setup or disabilities might be. This also means avoiding broken links and the like in sidebars. This also means...

3. Explain your rules, schedule, and mechanics clearly. Players should know what to expect going in. This goes double for scheduling, because people who have tighter schedules and less free time need to know what their commitment to the game is going to look like. Plus, if you have an interesting twist on the usual formula, that gives people something to get excited about, and something that they can talk about when bringing it up to their friends.

4. Be professional. This doesn’t mean be no-fun-allowed, but when people are sending asks, be polite in your responses. Don’t give joke answers to serious questions. Don’t blow up at people for asking questions, even if it’s something you’ve answered before or whatever have you. It’s easy for people to be intimidated by GMs and you should make sure you’re at least somewhat easy to approach.

We could go on for a while, but when it comes specifically to having a game that garners interests, these are the high points. Being a GM is a tough job but it can be very rewarding. We wish you the best of luck with any games you might be involved in!

So long as we have a gist of what your character’s appearance is, no other information is required. Though, with dollmakers, please do make note of any additional details that might not be easily portrayed with them.
