it may be my stupidity talking but i like it better when one's writing doesn't involve using big poetic words but rather simple but impactful words

it makes me appreciate the story more, and the author's skills to get across something so powerful and moving in such simple language and terms

its also important to note that english is my second language and im not good at it

i just finished all quiet on the western front (both the book and the movie, in consecutive order) and honestly they were both amazing BUT FOR

BUT FOR THE FACT THAT THE DIRECTOR CHANGED KATCZINSKY'S DEATH IN THE FILM and made it so fucking unimpactful and inconsiderable

i didn't even shed a single tear that's how emotionally UNmoving it was

they changed albert's as well and honestly it was good that was moving i did cry (after i realised that paul was in fact not hallucinating)

but katczinsky's death was... unremarkable like truly it was nothing compared to how he died in the book and UGHHH

what the hell was the connection between abigail and hannibal. like who did abigail see hannibal as? was he a father figure to her? i don't think the answer is yes.

and similarly who did hannibal see abigail as? *what* did hannibal see abigail as? was she just a tool for him, whatever it took to get closer to will? idk

your perspective is honestly really eye-opening, i've never really thought that way before :0

i've always held on to the notion that Will connects more deeply to Abigail than Hannibal does, but considering your point of view, I think he was just being more upfront about it.

I think besides empathizing with her situation, another situation why Will wanted to protect Abigail was the strong sense of responsibility he felt after killing her biological father, Garrett J. Hobbs. More precisely, Will deemed himself that it was of absolute necessity to make himself a father figure to Abigail, in response to the trauma he'd inflicted on her. He was particularly enthusiastic about this, too, to the point that he'd started coming off as overbearing to her.

(This isn't really related but I'd like to mention how Abigail feels about Will, in relation to how Will sees Abigail. To Abigail, Will just didn't...click. He was unstable, he shot her father and but most importantly, he didn't resemble her father in the slightest. IMO, that's one of the biggest reasons why Abigail didn't even begin to consider Will a father.)

And Hannibal, I wasn't entirely sure about him and his feelings about Abigail LMAO. Thanks for explaining it to me! :O How you see their connections is really interesting and makes me look at them in a different light.
