New Godzilla fans, don’t fall into this line of thinking:

“Monsterverse Godzilla is best, look at the cgi, America is showing Japan how it’s done!”

Shut up, stop right there, sit down!

First off, that’s kinda racist.

Second of all, that’s extremely disrespectful to the work that went into making the older Godzilla movies.

You can think they’re goofy all you want, but have some respect!

Godzilla first hit cinemas on November 3, 1954. He belongs to the longest running movie franchise in history.

The first Godzilla suit weighed 220 pounds and was worn by a man named Haruo Nakajima. A small puppet was used for closeups, like Godzilla first poking his head over the hill and biting a tower, and Mr. Nakajima wore a half-suit like pants held up by rope suspenders for scenes showing only Godzilla’s stomping feet. His head was in the neck of the suit, so he only had small holes to see and breathe through.

Godzilla’s scenes were filmed in high speed while Mr. Nakajima moved quickly through the choreography around the miniatures while wearing that 220 pound suit. This is so Godzilla had a sense of mass and weight when footage played back at normal speed. The studio lights had to be twice as bright and it could get up to 140F inside that suit! Mr. Nakajima could only handle wearing the suit for short times to shoot a scene, then he had to take it off to cool down. He had to be in top physical condition to perform. It wasn’t easy. The original Godzilla suit has his blood, sweat and tears inside of it.

Suitmation actors put their bodies through hell to make Godzilla movies for us. Some suit actors sustained injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening during filming throughout Godzilla’s movie history. Sometimes suits chafed their skin and sometimes several cups of sweat were drained out of the suit at the end of the day.

And the miniatures took ages to make. Weeks to months of work all for a scene that’s maybe ten seconds long. There’s building the sets, coordinating pyrotechnics, coordinating puppeteers to move tails, wings, heads (for Ghidorah) and controlling Mothra. It’s a LOT of work.

Godzilla happened because of Japan’s trauma after Hiroshima and Nagasaki and because a fishing boat (Lucky Dragon number 5) got too close to a nuclear bomb test. He happened because Ishiro Honda, Tomoyuki Tanaka and Eiji Tsuburaya wanted to tell a horror story about the dangers of nuclear weapons. Did you know that Godzilla’s skin is designed to resemble the keloid scars people suffered in the wake of the atomic bomb? He’s a dinosaur whose skin literally melted, leaving only scar tissue. Imagine the pain of that.

He is a piece of history, a force of nature, a bringer of balance, an emotion and a beloved pop culture icon.

America isn’t showing Japan how it’s done.

Japan showed the world their pain.

Respect where Godzilla comes from.

Loki theories

All the potential clues I can think of why Sophia Di Martino’s character might actually be Sylvie Lushton (Enchantress) and not Lady Loki:

1) Cailey Fleming was cast as “Young Sylvie”

2) The Variant was introduced in Oklahoma, where Sylvie is from

3) The Variant is blonde, just like the Enchantress

4) Loki doesn’t have mind control powers. Remember, he needed the Mind Stone to control Hawkeye. The Enchantress, on the other hand, does have mind control powers.

5) The Variant didn’t like being called Loki. If she was another Loki, then why the disgust towards her own name?

6) Loki states that he’d never treat another version of himself in the way the Variant treated him.

7) Apparently, the end credits for some people showed that the actress dubbing for Sophia’s character was playing “Sylvie".

Y’all, I’m going crazy. I’m trying to find this one HP fanfiction that was written a while ago. I’m not sure how long ago it was and I thought I added it as a bookmark but apparently I didn’t.

Here’s what I remember: Harry is either reborn or time travels back to the marauder era. I think she appeared randomly on the Potter estate or something. She ends up being adopted by James’s parents and becomes her father’s sister. I do remember that she told James, Sirius, and Remus about the future and because of that they distanced themselves from Peter. Harry’s character was pretty quiet and I remember Lily being kind of mean but coming to the realization that James was maturing due to the influence of taking care of and setting an example for his new sister. I also remember that fem!Harry and Remus were crushing on each other or at least he was very protective of her. I found this fic on fanfiction dot net but, for the life of me, I can’t find it.

I adopted a puppy last Thursday and since then I believe I opened Genshin once but I didn’t even have enough time to do the daily tasks. I’ve realized that raising a puppy is much like raising a child. When you do have free time it’s to get other stuff done like eating, cleaning, and legitimately working. It’s only for brief moments at a time though and only when the puppy naps. He’s a ball of joy though but I can’t wait until he’s bigger so it’s less trips outside to potty.
