Open Starter- Champion’s Ball

It hadn’t been easy to get into a Champion’s Ball. Sure, May was technically the champion, but snatching the tickets for a non-league employee (or someone who wasn’t related to a league employee) was a pain in the arse. 

But here she was, under the twinkling lights and beautiful chandeliers, hearing the band fill the hall with music. The hassle was totally worth it, she thought, dancing among her gym leader friends. She was having the time of her life, and arceus-be-damned if anyone was gonna take that away from her. Every step, twist, and turn lifted her spirit, and the joy was infectious and almost intoxicating.

She was yanked out of her stupor by someone tapping on her shoulder. “Excuse me?” She replied, almost grumpily.

Dark’s Noibat, Musa, approaches May with a cloth bag in tow. Chittering excitedly he pulls out a small red button from it, and holds the button out, offering it up as a gift. Everyone has been giving gifts today, and he wants to join in— other people like buttons just as much as he does, right? He sure hopes so! (( Happy Valentines day!! <3 ))

May leans down and pats the Noibat on the head, softly tousling its fur. 

“For me? You shouldn’t have!” She holds the button and looks up at it, smiling. 

“This perfectly matches my outfit! Thank you!”

Johto was not among May’s favorite regions. It was so unlike Hoenn. Much colder and drier. 

But the new Pokemon were very neat and interesting. She hadn’t caught anything yet, but she had made a few friends with the wild pokemon while camping, and had earned 2 badges in the Johto league. 

It was while hiking through the woods she found her mind to be clearest. She sure loved to shop and make friends, but the solace and quiet of the forest drew her in. Lost in her thoughts as she hiked, she tripped over a bag of another trainer, and quickly got up to dust herself off. 

“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry!! Did I break anything? Can I help you with anything?”

Hoenn had recently been entering into its rainy season. May had been working on filling in her journal, as the rain pelted the tall windows of the Pokemon Center. The soothing rush of noise and sounds filled her with a sense of relaxation, as she could finally have a moment of peace while her Pokemon were healing up. 

She certainly enjoyed traveling, but the constant strain of battling and giving advice to young trainers began to wear her thin after an almost constant line of people. Sometimes, all she wanted to do was go out and surf, or play with her pokemon, or even take a nap without being bothered.

If this was what being a Champion in the public eye was like, she would have to look at real estate in woods far away from civilization. 

May felt the presence of a familiar person enter the room. She waved and gave them a playful grin. 

“Hey! Long time no see, stranger!”
