I’m a black hijabi and these anti-immigrant groups appeared in my town the same time my local Muslim community was hosting a picnic .It was terrifying they were a few streets away from the park we were set up in

However I remembered that all this shit isn’t to change laws or anything it’s to tell people of colour they aren’t safe outside their homes and to make our lives as uncomfortable as possible because for I (someone who lived in the area since I was 3) felt like this wasn’t my home anymore and that I wasn’t safe

And that enough people in my local community (which is a reform council now) support these extremist stances to form this type of group in public shows that the uk has a sickness we cannot ignore any longer

America didn’t think it could really happen to them that a right wing lunatic with incoherent policies and an overtly racist viewpoint could democratically be voted into office but he was

And while I am proud of the counter protesters how help shut down these people

There is a really horrible moment as a closeted queer teen when you realise large parts of your life you will just go through without your parents
