I saw a callout post for a popular undertale creator, who was exposed as proship. And all the comments under it were so… jarring.

screaming, crying, freaking out, threats of violence against the person, complaints of how we “can’t have anything nice anymore,” frustrated grapples with morality of whether or not it was “okay” for them to post their related fanfiction anymore… just… obsession. Pure, unbridled, unchained obsession. Obsession with being “right.” With being “good.” With being “normal.” Public displays of an unhealthy parasocial relationship that’s just been shattered, people thinking that they knew this creator like a friend or ally, and now rejecting them like they were dead. People saying that they thought knew this person. And then having the gall to renounce their false relationship, built on likes and reblogs and nothing more.

it looks so tiring. Going stir-crazy just because someone you liked had the audacity to… be themself.

i don't like this notion that a lot of proshippers have, and by extension a lot of antis too, that you have to enjoy dark content to be proship... when almost everyone here has boundaries and stuff they're not into. a lot of proshippers hate lolisho for example, and that's super cool. the only thing we want as a community is for people to have the freedom to enjoy them in peace.

personally i'd say you should label yourself whatever the heck you want though sdhDFSASdsf-- like, i label myself proship but i think i lean more towards the 'neutral' stuff, i am definitely not as passionate as other people... 😭 and i want to be able to criticize proshippers without getting the "if you don't agree with this you're not a real--!!" blablabla bull, lol

Sublimation is also literally a healthier, mature defense mechanism in adults, but tumblr which glorifies immature defense mechanisms only developmentally typical of children (like regression) is terrified of it and demonizes it.

I've even seen a very depressing case of some anti feeling like starving themselves and harming themselves makes them BETTER than someone who copes by hurting (fictional) kids and it's. So sad. They think they're lower than a fictional imaginary idea of a child, lower than text on a screen or drawings on paper, and that slowly killing themselves is a better way to cope.

It's so horrible what modern fandom has become and how a bunch of clueless young people who never went to medical school's twisted pop culture understanding of psychology, trauma, and recovery has demonized art therapy. There is no "wrong way" to write or draw about trauma.

even in ambients like the agere community, any sort of "impure" regression is seen as gross, problematic and "must-be-fixed", even though sexual abuse during childhood is a common experience that would affect someone enough to regress. asking someone to get rid of their sexual thoughts in relation to that is ignorant as hell.

i'd rather live with my trauma and sexualize it and understand that it doesn't define me, than live constantly afraid of it and full of hatred and pain, and seeing myself as a perpetual mourner with extremely limited options on how to cope, let alone heal.

i wish antis could understand the beauty of reliving your trauma through a different lens with fiction.

it already happened to me irl. i had no control over it. i suffered because of it, it ruined my life even.

the very least i could do now is try to paint over it in different colors. maybe imagining it's a character i like who did it! so i feel a tiny bit more 'safe'. maybe expressing my feelings through a self insert helps me understand myself, my trauma and how it affected me, much better. maybe reliving it but with my rules helps me feel like i have control over what happened to me again.

i don't know. to me it's a beautiful way to cope. i'm sad it's so demonized by fanpol nowadays. :/
