[Neon speaking] I need to invest in some gear that mimics talons and tails, possibly wings... Having something for my phantom shifts to inhabit (for lack of a better word) physically would help with quite a bit of this whole no clipping feeling, and hopefully dysphoria. I had a strong werewolf shift yesterday and it was KILLING me having my claws clip into things. It's this discomfort that we also have similarly when things aren't 'even' as our brain dictates, like stepping on a specific color or shape or size of flooring the same amount of times on each foot. [Neon speaking] Made a graph of our headmate count inspired by this one by @/interstellarsystem :] It's kinda comical how insane our headmate count went after we became aware of plurality in general and then realized that we are as well. There could've been a lot more of us before that, but we didn't know plurality was a known thing, and thought we were just insane, so we didn't document things as thoroughly as we do nowadays. We've been experiencing plural things since we were very little but our memory is sadly quite poor. Fun to have this graph though!

So! We've been desperately searching for more information about the experience of xeno origins, and sadly haven't been able to find much. The tags about it yielded coining posts (no shade to that!) and syscourse. We're actually questioning whether xeno origin labels would be something we might like to use for some headmates, thus why we're searching.

Unsure if this will reach anyone BUT,

Howdy! A pinned post for us is long overdue.

We're the Mirage system, and we're a quoigenic and mixed origin system of 400+ members. If you're speaking to us and don't know who's front, call us Mirage and use They/Them pronouns. We're introject and fictive heavy, alongside many of us being therians, nonhumans, or alterhuman in various ways. Our vessel is an adult, neurodivergent, and the majority of us are queer in some way.

On this blog we're going to post things relating to our systemhood, general life experiences, or other things, whether that be writing, rambling, art, or just shitposts. Our posts will start by stating who's writing it in brackets, but it'll mostly be Neon, our current host.

I've started the painstaking process of cataloging/moving information about our 400+ member system from where we've been keeping it since our awakening (discord), to plain files and folders on our computer, and good god this is going to take a WHILE.

I'm having to remind myself that the template for information on each person doesn't HAVE to be filled out all the way, because sometimes specific details just don't exist ^^' but I do love having completed lists...

Related, I had the idea of making a form/survey that new headmates could fill out with basic information they know about themselves as a possible grounding activity, and partially because I like having things to put in their profile and not having to bug them later or when they're fronting. I'm the host and front like. 98% of the time, so when someone else does actually front our brain is VERY determined to keep me fully awake the entire time, as much as I wish I could go to sleep for a bit like most of the others do when not fronting. It usually leads to dysphoria and confusion for the others fronting when my train of thought is treated as a priority and just does not stop. I've considered that I may need to invest some time into in system communication and facilitating even small short switches to get our brain used to others being awake and talking again, because a few years ago we switched far more and felt more comfortable doing it. It was a much more stressful time for us so I suspect thats why, but we still miss it.

I'm having a strong velociraptor shift (jurassic park specifically) at the moment and it feels great, EXCEPT the feelings of the upraised talons on my feet 'clipping' into things, and having extra fingers that feel extremely out of place ):/ not to mention how it feels like my tail is clipping through our clothes. grr

I love feeling more like myself but its so viscerally uncomfortable to feel like my body is stuck inside objects it can't even interact with physically

[Neon speaking] This is a great guide, and there's something I'd like to add/comment about to hopefully help!

For some people counting down can be distracting or stressful in it of itself, and may not work for some. If counting down is just distracting to have to focus on, having an audio of counting down either from youtube or recorded by oneself can be helpful, sort of like a guided meditation!

If counting down is stressful/scary because it feels like something bad is going to happen (nothing will), one could try switching to counting up instead! Starting at 1, by 10-20 visualizing oneself, 30-60 listening to see if anyone is getting your attention, etcetera detailed in the post above.

It's important to cater to one's own individual needs/a system's needs, remember you can adapt guides to how you need them, while being aware of the base guide itself. Good luck! :]

[Neon speaking] We took parts of our old username, I took the first part of it as my name because people called me it all the time online and it stuck, and our system was named the other part of the username, mirage. It got more meaning over the years for us because of our disconnect with reality and our memories at times, with memories and some experiences with reality feeling like a mirage, unclear as to if they're real or not. irl we just get called the body's name in most circumstances though, and we're comfortable with it usually

How do people come up with system and collective names?
