He found joy in the healing of others, offering comfort and labor without ever asking for more than the rekindled fervour of the ailing and the broken.

When Custodia fell ill, Valentín prayed to the Miracle, begging to be of use once more. Moved by the sincerity of a man who had never asked for anything, the Miracle granted him a terrible grace: the power to bless the weak, by revealing and enlarging his own heart for all to see. His touch restores flesh and mends bone, returning life to its fullness. Yet with each blessing, his heart grows, pushing against fractured ribs, spilling blood along his path. The agony leaves him trembling, his body frail and barely held together.

But no pain is too great, if it means offering relief to those who suffer.

Least of all, when it is his beloved Penitent in silence who lies wounded before him.
