Itās so quiet out here. The stars spread out before us, beckoning across time and spaceā¦Ā āDawn may banish even the darkest night,ā How bitterly beautiful, those words. I should be stronger for all my experiences, yet my heart aches more than ever. I never understood why Grandfather gave his life that dayā¦But then I recalled Grandfatherās words to my father, years ago, before he left Sharlayan behind forever.Ā āTo ignore the plight of those one might conceivably save is not wisdomāit is indolence. We must all protect that which we hold most dear in the manner of our own choosing.āā¦We have to try, do we not?ā¦The hopes and dreams of so many rest on your shoulders, Warrior of Light. As long as the sun rises, we can but carry on. For the sake of those we hold dear.ā -Ā Alisaie Leveilleur

Another gem from my latest ROM visit that filled me with immeasurable glee:
Look at that little owl!! He's so goofy and cute and so dear to me and so so very clearly a LITTLE OWL (Athena Noctua) which is, of course, the species of owl that represents Athena
Look at how small that little guy is:
AthenaĀ holding a helmet and a spear, with an owl. Attributed to theĀ Brygos PainterĀ (c.ā490ā480Ā BC). TheĀ Metropolitan Museum of Art. And, look at these incredible further examples cute little owls in pottery:
Armed owl. Attic red-figure Anthesteria oinochoe, ca. 410ā390 BC
Skypho with Owl between two branches of olive wood. Attic red-figure pottery. Archaeological National Museum of Spain.
Attic red-figure kylix, owl between two olive branches. Found in the MengĆbar Necropolis. Archaeological National Museum of Spain.
Owl skyphos. From Most na SoÄI, end of the 5th century BC.Ā Tolmin Museum.
Owl skyphos. Attic, mid-5th century BCE. The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Terracotta rim fragment of a kylix. Attic, datingĀ 480ā470 BCE. The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
I just wanted to share these because they also always make me smile. One of my favourite things about going to the museum has always been looking at sculptures and pottery.

having anti punitive justice morals sucks because you want to say "man that guy sucks he should get hit with hammers until he dies" but you also want to make it clear you don't think anyone should be put in charge of the 'hit people with hammers until they die" machine.

look I know itās supposed to be a joke but that āirradiated wastelandā is the unceded homeland of the Paiute and Shoshone peoples and consists of fragile Mojave and Great Basin desert ecosystems that are actively being exploited and destroyed by mining interests who utilize the perception of desert as wasteland to justify their destruction of indigenous lands and communities. the joke's not funny. fuck off with this.

My official position is that Luigi Mangione is innocent because he's not the real killer and whoever the real killer is is also innocent. Two different people who are both innocent.

āCassette Noirā
Hereās the design I got ready for Botcon! Itās a Chat Noir parody featuring Ravage, Decepticon graffiti, and a hidden spark flower! I made a large painting first that Iāve got a nice frame for, and from the painting separated it into layers for a limited run screen print! I hand dyed the paper to get a nice vintage yellow ochre, and makes each print unique! Iāll have them up on my Etsy at the end of this week, and Iāll also have them at TFCon Chicago in October!

"Elrond knew all about runes of every kind. That day he looked at the swords they had brought from the trolls' lair, and he said: 'These are not troll-make. They are old swords, very old swords of the High Elves of the West, my kin. They were made in Gondolin for the Goblin-wars. They must have come from a dragon's hoard or goblin plunder, for dragons and goblins destroyed that city many ages ago'.."
Chapter 3, A Short Rest. "The Hobbit" by J.R.R. Tolkien
Elrond's outfit is based off of a melange of ancient dress, most notably Assyrian, with some medieval dagging in there to evoke the shape of leaves. Gandalf is based largely on the Quechua people who inhabit the Andean region of South America with some Viking touches here and there.
