HEADCANNON!!!

After the Trials Of Apollo, even when in Olympus Apollo stayed in his Lester body.

At first the other gods thought this was a taunt to Zeus, or maybe to Dionysus due to his form being part of a punishment while Dionysus is still serving his punishment; but they soon realised it wasn’t.

Apollo would regularly make trips to earth, interact with humans and Demi-gods; which also confused the other Gods. Why was he there but not having children?? Why was he just wandering earth and not harming the useless mortals??

All of this attributes to Apollo becoming the favourite of the Gods for the demi-gods and mortals who are aware of the god’s existence.

Mr D sat campers who hadn’t been to ‘proper’ school down and made them watch sex ed vids with him, and pointed out all the incorrect things, effectively giving a better education on the subject than pretty much everyone else at camp had 😁👍

He waited to get Nico,

-1930’s education

-only actually went through 1930’s Italian education and a bit of military school

-1930’s had bad medical standards, and only recognised straight couples

When Nico was in between places, we’re told he just kinda wanders the country alone.

Every time he comes back to his friends after being away for a while, he forgets his English a lot, because he’ll only think in Italian, and probably not speak to anyone.

I can just imagine Lester/Apollo doing one of those ‘answer in Spanish’ TikTok videos with a water gun, except it’s speak English, with all of the campers who don’t have English as a first language.

Nico after travelling alone for a couple months doing a horrible mix of Italian and English, and Leo’s attempt after spending practically months alone building projects is some Spanglish.

HEADCANNON!!!

I know it’s shown that Persephone isn’t exactly happy about Nico at the start- but in TSATS she seems like she loves him, so here are my Persephone and Hades headcannons!!

-Persephone will never be Nico’s biological mum, and they all respect that, but she is still the best mum Nico has. Nico felt guilty about this at first, he didn’t want to disrespect his mum because he loved her so much and she did everything she could for him and Bianca; but at the end of the day she’s gone. Eventually, Nico learned that his mum would want him to be happy, so he embraced Persephone’s motherly love- and she’s the best.

She’s the type of mum who gossips with you like you’re her best friend, but also hugs you when you’re sick. She makes the best breakfast and she always manages to take the most embarrassing photos and sticks them on the fridge. She never misses a birthday, an anniversary or activity her child has.

-Hades is the most loving (technically second to Persephone) godly parent.

He’s the only one who actually lives with his Demi-god child, he talks to him and even wishes him well when other godly parents would ignore there children.

Hades has a whole section of his palace built to look as close to Italian as possible, just for Nico. This is also where Nico’s room is. Hades likes to talk to Nico, they have dinner together and even have a family game night. Hades teaches Nico how to use his powers in a more efficient and affective way, and helps train him to fight against actual monsters.

It turns out it’s easy to avoid all the ‘rules’ of what you can’t tell your Demi-god children, when you’re just having a normal conversation, and not talking about battle plans.

-Persephone picks Nico up from camp when he has to come home for the holidays. And she wouldn’t say her main mission is to embarrass Nico, but she definitely isn’t sad about the fact her stepsons cheeks turn a dark red and he whisper-yells “mum please, let’s just go!” when all the other kids start looking at them. I mean who can blame them- some people don’t even get claimed by their godly parent, and here Nico is, an only child (because Hazel’s father is Pluto, and she stays in new Rome) of one of the big 3, having his stepmum, who just happens to also be a goddess, picking him up for Christmas. Nico isn’t one to draw attention to himself- and sadly for him, the easiest way to get attention is to walk around with a goddess who actually talks to their child, and will occasionally kiss him on the cheek- in the most motherly way possible.

-Persephone doesn’t trust anyone in her family to cross the road.

Every time she’s with Hades or Nico, she makes them hold her hand as they cross the road- purely because she doesn’t trust either of them.

valdengelo or solangelo? i offer? valedsolangelo

I’m so interested in what the dynamic would be!! We obviously have the ‘cute’ relationship with Solangelo, and valdengelo is characterised as quite angsty. So mixing them would be an interesting dynamic. How would will act with Leo in a relationship? I bet they would be such a sunshine duo- Leo would work on machines for the infirmary, and he would blab about all of his mechanical things while Will did basic infirmary duty. Nico and Leo would be pulling Will out of the infirmary- telling him to stop and rest. Leo and Will would make Nico promise to stop overusing his powers. Will and Nico would make Leo promise to stop working on his machines and sleep.

Mixing the two dynamics, the angsty and the sunshine, is so odd not just because thoes dynamics normally oppose eachother in some way, but because they are so different but both involve one common person. Nico.

Nico who will practically just try and match the energy given- with will he’ll indulge in a cutesy relationship, having some true feelings and emotions which he (although begrudgingly) will try and express and just let happen.

And when put with someone who will be a bit more depressing, it becomes somewhat of a competition- although obviously they don’t say that and it’s never in a hurtful way.

So in Valdsolangelo is Leo and Nico both bouncing off of Will? I think so at least.

Anyway- that’s my little ramble on my fave little characters.

Nico has so many pets. He has a full cabin to himself and you best believe he’s gonna use all that space.

Will is always scared when he has to go into Nico’s cabin alone- the animals scare him.

WHICH ANIMALS I THINK HE WOULD HAVE (and why):

-2 raccoons, he found them when he was walking around before/during the labyrinth, and they haven’t left Nico since- he also gave them Italian names, and little collars so he can take them on walks.

-3 budgies, given to him by Hestia when he first joined camp because he came over to talk to her, and she though they would suit him.

-1 lizard, given to him by his father, and this lizard literally goes everywhere with him. The lizard sits on his shoulder during meal times and it freaks people out how in sync Nico is with this massive lizard.

-4 frogs, given to him by his Stepmother, Persephone, because Nico was the only one who could get them out of her garden, and now Nico owns them happily.

-shared ownership of Mrs o’learly with Percy, no explanation needed

Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Nico Di Angelo (written by someone currently in the process of diagnosis)

•Nico uses wrist braces, but likes to cover them with fingerless gloves in the winter and wrist warmer in summer, due to people always asking if he’s alright, or what he did to ‘hurt’ himself.

Nico’s always infuriated by people asking what he did to hurt his wrists- not because he doesn’t like people asking, but because barely anyone knows what EDS is, and trying to describe it always ends in either ableism or in some really confused people.

•Nico’s pain fluctuates from day to day, and Nico uses different mobility aids for different days.

One day he’ll walk around just fine, other days he uses his cane and/or crutches, and some days it will be a wheelchair. Sometimes he can’t even move out of bed. Due to Nico being basically the only mobility aid using person at camp, when remaking the cabins basically the whole camp was made accessible. This was actually helpful for everyone- but definitely helpful for Nico. Let’s say trying to get up stairs to get into his cabin while using a wheelchair wasn’t easy.

Now there’s ramps, proper paths and hand railings everywhere in camp.

•Nico has his mobility aids made by the Hephaestus cabin.

His cane and crutches were made by the Hephaestus cabin, and they are made out of celestial bronze, and Nico has all his mobility aids black and purple. Like Percy’s sword turning into a pen, Nico’s aids compact into a sunflower lanyard. They’re also littered with stickers he gets from the Apollo cabin, because he gets to pick a sticker every time he has a doctor’s appointment.

Nico also got into a habit of crochet (when his wrists aren’t to bad) and he like to crochet around his crutches.

•Nico loves to freak people out. Especially when fighting.

Nico, despite being in pain and falling asleep after every fight, he’s still basically the best fighter whenever Percy isn’t at camp. Nico can dislocate most of his joints easily, which while it hurts (and will tells him not to do it) he does it strategically. Examples are dislocating parts of his arm to be able to hit people at odd angles, and to reach a little further. As well as dislocating parts of his legs to be able to dodge other people.

This also freaks people out because they can normally hear the bones crack out and back into place- which really throws people off in training and competitions.

Autistic Nico Di Angelo headcanons (written by an autistic person)

•Nico hates eye contact. He loves looking at eyes.

The second someone looks away he could stare at their eyes for hours, seeing all the intricate veins that flow around the deeply coloured iris of their eyes fills Nico with joy; you can’t see such colour in the dead’s eyes, and neither can you in ghosts.

But the second eye contact is felt- he feels like he’s burning up. Like someone is pushing all of the air around him tightly onto him, slowly crushing him. His eyes physically hurt. He can’t do it.

Nico grows his shaggy black hair out so it covers his eyes. So he doesn’t have to keep eye contact.

•Nico hates velvet.

In Hades’ palace, the walls are lined with furniture in greys, greens and deep magentas- all chairs and sofas covered in velvet. Velvet pillows cover the already bad sofas.

Nico can’t stand to sit or even brush his hand against the velvet. He despises it, the way it sends an unsettling and unpleasant sensation up his arm, getting caught in the back of his neck; hearing how it felt in his ears on repeat.

When Hades finds out- all of the sofas are covered in blankets so Nico can crash on them without discomfort.

•Nico loves pebbles.

In every jacket, every pair of trousers and anything else with pockets, every pocket is filled with little pebbles. A simple stimming method, he loves the feeling of the small, cold, smooth pebble- sometimes the jagged edges of the little rocks.

He picks up any pebble he sees and likes. Sometimes he sees them when on walks with others, and remembers where they are so he can come back later to pick up a couple of them.

He eventually takes online school courses so he could feel more apart of the ‘real’ world, and he takes a geology class every week.

He can tell you the name and process of creation for every rock he owns.

•Nico doesn’t like socks- and by extension, shoes.

He hates socks, they are so suffocating, the feeling of the seams feels like a rock being pounded against the back of his brain.

Instead he walks around most places barefoot. When he originally ran away from CHB, he ruined his shoes quite quickly and was very happy to stop wearing them all together.

Nico’s feet are tough as nails- he walks the underworld without shoes. Even Tartarus (however he wouldn’t recommend that one).

Do you prefer Valdangelo or solangelo? Discuss!

I’ll throw some points out there:

We never really got any Leo Nico interaction, which is sad because there characters are actually very similar, very complex characters, and I bet if they talked they would atleast become really good friends!

With Solangelo we get lots of Nico and Will interactions, but we don’t really get to see Will as anything more than Nico’s boyfriend. While Will is obviously complex, we don’t really get to see it.

Nico:

•Can braid, and loves to braid Hazel’s hair for her

Will:

•OCD, ADHD

•Always has plasters with him

•Has no spacial awareness anywhere except in the infirmary- constantly falls up/down stairs and walks into bannisters

•Literally smells like warmth

•Loves baking, but always ends up burning things by mistake

•Carries snacks in all his shorts pockets

•Has multiple TikTok accounts where he pops pimples and removes blackheads, etc

Percy:

•ADHD and Dyslexia

•Smells of sea salt at all times

•His eyes glow when he’s underwater and it’s dark

•Once broke his wrist in an arm wrestling contest with Jason

•Watches Bluey whenever he needs to study and it actually helps

•Has a cupboard full of blue food colouring/blue food

•Watches ‘Love Island’ and claims it’s only because his mum watches it, but he watches it purely for the drama

•A swim instructor in his free time

Leo:

•ADHD, Autism and Dyslexia

•Biggest swifty ever.

•Can learn instruments fast because his hands just work without him having to think about it

•Smells of hot sauce

•Does quizzes in his free time for fun

•Loves brushing Piper’s hair

•Organises a game night every week after hearing from Apollo that they have one on Mount Olympus

•Sneezes fire

Hazel:

•Dyscalculia and Dyspraxia

•Loves it when Nico braids her hair

•Smells of Dior perfume

•Normally doesn’t wear shoes because she likes being able to sense the minerals beneath her

•Her eyes literally sparkle, like gold dust

•Wears purple satin pyjamas

•Nico is her go-to gossip man, because he knows literally everything about everyone, but he can keep his mouth shut… Hazel can’t.

•Constantly falls over, and needs something to hold onto when going up/down stairs, so she really appreciates ramps and banisters

HEADCANNON!!!

After the events of MOA, Nico didn’t eat much. But there is one food he would eat. Pomegranates.

Nico love’s pomegranate, it reminds him of the Underworld, and his father. Hades smells of pomegranate, mostly due to Persephone, but also due to her garden, which is filled with pomegranates.

The Hades Cabin at CHB has an almost overwhelming smell of pomegranate, and Nico grows some in his free time.

Will loves the smell, and is surprised when he enters the underworld to find that Hades’ palace smells just like the Hades cabin back home. And he realises how much the underworld means to Nico.

Chronically ill Nico definitely has little sun stickers from the Apollo cabin all over his cane. After every doctors appointment with Will, Nico gets to pick a little sticker and he puts it on his cane.

ANOTHER HEADCANNON!!!

Nico’s cane was made by the Hephaestus cabin, and can be compacted down to look like a sunflower lanyard when he isn’t using it (like Percy’s sword being a pen) and Nico likes to put little skull pin badges on it.

Nico can and will sleep anywhere.

Arm chair? That’s his favourite. At dinner? He pushes his plate aside and sleeps then and there. Sword practice? He’s asleep in the corner of the arena.

He’s a sleepy boy!
