If you're a polytheist and just picked up tarot, I don't think you should use the cards for deity communication right away.

Before I began worshipping the gods, I'd already been reading tarot for 3 years. It allowed me to learn the language of the cards before I used them to commune with the divine. Doing tons of readings which had NOTHING to do with deity communication taught me the difference between my deck's voice, my own internal biases, the querent's voice, and the countless other factors that affect a reading.

So when I started invoking the gods in my readings, I could see a major difference in voice, tone, and clarity. I know that Apollon tends to deliver clear, crisp messages in major Arcana, but I wouldn't know that if I'd never done a reading without him.

You also don't need to call on deity for every issue. More "people on the line" can confuse a message. Although I invoke deity very often, there are some topics for which I just ask the deck or the universe.

Imo, you need to the know a language before you try to speak it.
