Rotten Dreams.

I haven't posted some of the art I make for my own projects in a while, so I decided to go and dredge them up! I'll try to post some of the old art I have for them, along with more recent stuff as time goes on!

"Rotten Dreams" has been a genuine passion project for a little while now. It follows Helen Mallory, and her investigation into what has been driving never-ending apocalyptic nightmares into her mind for months, alongside finding what lurks under the surface of Oddport Bay. Her nightmares keep escalating, always ending with the ocean rising above to skies with a scream, and she's not really in her right mind. Along the way, she makes tentative new friends, find out more about herself, and discovers that sometimes, you don't really have to save the world.

I'll expand on more of this as I post, but for now, that's all <3

Concept Art for the Gargantuan AU <3

A small snip:

What do you do when the ocean rises above the skies in a way you lack the language to describe? When suns glow from under the waves, as the horizon shifts and sways with iridescent green, a color so bright, so distinct, your heart can help but thunder at the sight of your doom made manifest?

What do you do, when the waves lapping at your shores shake the earth itself, crashing violently, like the fists of something ancient, ripping through rusted ships like so much as paper playthings, when the rain hammers into windows with so much force you can only pray they won't shatter, as your footsteps get slower, treading murky waters, the smell of salt and brine staining every single breath?

What do you do, when the siren blares over howling winds, telling you with no uncertainty, that your home is gone already, but it hasn't realized it yet? That it will be swallowed by something with no mouth, that it will rot and break apart in the years to come, that looters and adventurous fools will swim through the ruins of what made you like a graveyard of memories?

What do you do, when you are asked to answer the call, to face what cannot be fathomed, to stand up to that lurking thing that shouldn't be, with but your feeble body that strains against storm and wave, each inch of your costume, so pragmatically made with hopes do what is right, clinging to you, rubbing salt against your skin, weighing you down? When every one of the little motes of your consciousness twitch and writhe with horror at what is to come, what is lazily moving towards you under all the waters of the world, glowing like the dawn, calling you to drown?

What do you do, when your lips move without thought, when they agree, when fingers, trembling with so much terror you can't even comprehend it, slip on your mask, coloring the world in golden hues, when your back straightens, when you prepare to die for it is the right thing to do, when you reach out to people who you want to betray but trust so much of yourself with?

What do you do, when the Leviathan comes?

So, these are for an AU I am currently working on, called the Gargantuan Endbringers!

Essentially, the idea for it is that the Endbringers aren't city destroyers that pop up every three months, nor are they, in any reasonable manner, something you can fight. They are living apocalypses, things that destroy whole states, countries even, and the aftermaths are far starker. Death tolls are uncountable, and whole entire cultures eradicated when they show, though it bears mentioning that it's only once a year.

However, that isn't the most interesting part of them. Their mere existence changes the world, drastically. The Behemoth's movements reshape the tectonic plates, crack mountains, create valleys and leave gaping tunnels through the earth that insane people explore. The Leviathan's movements cause the weather to be utterly unpredictable, storms and tidal waves, calm tides and rainfall, are all messed up, and since he sinks whole countries (Japan is gone, under the waves in totality), the remnants are used for exploration, or floating cities are erected on the wrecks. The Simurgh's wings blot out the sun where she passes, darkening whole swaths of land, her tinkertech is left on purpose to incite greedy capes and explorers to take it, entire cities repurposed into machines that are doing incalculable things for our understanding of the world.

Human culture shifts to utter desperation instead of the slow decline of canon, as there is no rebuilding this, just a quick countdown of utter destruction that is turning the world into a completely different place then what was before. Tinkertech is more readily available, and people are far more prone to risk taking, because, well, it's not like it matters. Cauldron and other capes are wildly more active, trying desperately to just survive. Villains are seen both in a harsher light, because everyone is already fucked, could you please stop- but also in a more comprehensive way - desperation, hopelessness does that - while heroes are far more focused on making things better, on trying to help, on making the world better through the chaos, even if there are the same exact failings as before.

There are so many things to explore in this AU, and I will write about it in flashes seen through the inhabitants of this Earth <3
