I mostly use Pinterest to get photos and I use Shuffle to make collages

To change the color of pictures I use Picsart and the filters they have or sometimes just the filters you get in the Iphone Photos app

1979, Lafayette- Indiana

You were supposed to just be friends- Bill didn’t have a date and you got stood up, last second - so, naturally, you went together

But ever since prom, things had changed… something had sparked between the two of you, something new, something kinda unexpected, something exciting in the boringness of your everyday lives in the sleepy town of Lafayette…

Now here you were, laying on your bed in your room with Bill Bailey, your friend since you both had been in diapers, only now you were more than that…

Meeting up at your house was basically the norm, since Bill’s stepdad didn’t allow him to have girls over.

Bill was laying on his stomach, busy looking through the current yearbook while smoking a cigarette that he’d gotten from some guy who sold them at school in the bathrooms.

You were sprawled out on your back, holding a fashion magazine in your hands, Led Zeppelin played quietly in the background, a band he’d introduced to you, while you pretended like the ever present smell of smoke that seemed to follow him everywhere, didn’t bother you

The last couple hours had been spent with mostly making out- your new favorite activity ever since prom- neither one of you were really experienced, even though Bill liked making it seem like he was.

Now both of you were out of breath and simply soaking up each other’s presence in comfortable silence, which was enough sometimes…

When you turned your head to glance over at Bill, you immediately noticed his slightly zoned out expression, like something was bothering him. The thought alone was enough to make you frown a bit

“Bill?”

You questioned carefully, no answer, he just continued going through the rows of pictures of students and clubs..

“Hello… Hello?

You tried again, that finally made him lift his head, which caused his strawberry blond hair, that he was trying to grow out, to fall into his face

“Huh…?” Was all he asked

“Something’s on your mind,” that wasn’t really a question, more of a statement

“I can tell when you’re distracted… what’s going on?”

You knew all too well that Bill sometimes had problems with opening up

He sighed “Nothings wrong.” He said simply, a bit dismissively. That caused you to roll your eyes

“I’m not stupid, I know when something’s bothering you…” your voice softened a bit “Are you having problems with your parents again…?”

Bill finally closed the yearbook and looked up at you properly.

“Look uhm,…” he began and let out a heavy sigh, running his fingers through his hair

It seemed like he was thinking about how to phrase something

“I’m leaving.” He then said simply, but there was no doubt that he actually meant it, he was determined to leave this town- one way or another. If Bill set his mind on something, he’d do it.

And even though the simple phrase was broad, you immediately knew what he meant- he’d been toying with the idea of leaving this town for a while, he wanted to start a new life, away from prejudices, away from the daily struggles, away from people that underestimated him, away from Indianan- away from home…

You just stared at him for a moment, eyebrows raised slightly, eyes wide, body tense, heart beating faster while Bill stared right back at you with an expressionless face.

“What…?” was the the only thing you managed to utter

“I’m leaving.” Bill repeated, his voice not as firm this time, “Are you coming with me…?”
