Of course it is. People say it all the time. You are not stupid inherently, but love does make one stupid. Trust me, I have seen it happen with Lumiere plenty of times. It is not your fault, you know. You could always cling to the thoughts on how it was when you were together. You know, to not cry because it is over, but to smile before it happened. Now that one I know is an actual phrase. Who is to say that he would do damage? You should be more trusting with yourself, mon ami. Besides, you have others of us who would patch you up in such an event.

[pinches the bridge of his nose and sighs heavily] Cogs. I don’t think that’s an actual saying. She obviously must not have. I’m probably just too stupid and blinded to have noticed. [laughs bitterly] It was nice while it lasted. Yeah great idea. Set the beast loose and hope he doesn’t break anything or himself permanently.

Ah. Je vois maintenant. That is a lot to have happened in such a short amount of time, it seems. Well, if she broke up with you, then she obviously did not care about you the way she cares about this James. Otherwise, she would not have broken up with you. You know the phrase, "if you are find yourself in love with two people, choose the second, for you never loved the first to have left them." Or something along those lines. Perhaps snapping again is what you need. To snap and then put yourself back together, instead of relying on some femme to do it for you.

I hurt Mel because I was trying to replace Esmeralda. Which resulted in her breaking up with me, then I snapped, then Esmeralda found me, we kissed and things were pretty great until James came back. Which made everything awkward because he was still in love with her and she’s still in love with him even though I’ve loved her for years. She broke up with me because she still loves him and I have no idea what I’m doing. And I don’t want to snap again but I can feel it building and building.

[Cogsworth gave Babette a pensive look, trying to make sense of her babbling and the fact that she had been thinking about him. Why? He tucked it away for later] Oui, it was. I am very sure I want to offer that. I would like that... Et peut-être que non juste pour les petits gâteaux. [He shook his head, and took a breath] Mais, the cupcakes will be delicious, I am sure. Oh, but oui. It would be rude to decline such a thoughtful offer from someone comme toi.

[Babette knocked at his door, standing back and giving him a smile as he answered, a plate of cupcakes in her hand.] Hi! I baked cupcakes and I brought you some. I'm not really sure you even like them or.. what kinds you like, so I brought one of each! If you want them, I mean.

[Cogsworth was sat on his bed, reading a rather riveting history recount of the American civil war when he heard a knock. He looked up curiously, and went to answer the door.] Babette! Bonjour. Oh, cupcakes. That was so nice of you. I would like one very much. [Cogsworth smiles, and picks up a chocolate cupcake. He takes a bite.] Oh, this is very good, Babette.
