TELL US ABOUT SOME OF YOUR LIKES AND DISLIKES,

I'm really interested in fashion, obviously I love music--everything from Roxy Music to Katy Perry is fair game. Surprisingly, I'm not too shabby at polo and fencing, although I don't participate in either to really see it as a hobby. Believe it or not, I enjoy boxing, but only as a way to relieve stress, manage anger, or, if it's really necessary, as a defensive tactic. Not very many people know this about me, but I do enjoy the occasional video game or two, as long as I have friends to play with. I'm actually really into superhero flicks and comic books. Growing up with Cooper has taught me many, many things, but one of the most useful--or useless, depending on who you're talking to--just might be the ability to survive a zombie apocalypse. I love Broadway. I can't stress this enough, although sometimes I feel like Kurt and Rachel (and Tina, actually) are the only ones who really understand. The same way Sam is probably the only one who understands my love of video games and superheros.

  I try to see the good and usefulness in everything, so I don't really want to say dislike many things. There's no excuse for bullying. Dislikes, dislikes... Um...I hate my hair? like, hate it. I don't use that word lightly. Cooper got the good hair in the family and I'm eternally jealous of him for that.

WHAT ABOUT YOUR HOBBIES, SURELY YOU HAVE SOME,

I do have a couple of hobbies, actually. There's the obvious: singing, dancing, acting, of course. I take singing a little more seriously than dancing and acting, so I would consider the latter of the three more of a hobby. Singing, for me, isn't about sharing my voice with the world. For me it's a way of expressing myself when I don't know what to say, or how to put what I'm feeling into words. And for as wordy and eloquent as I can be, that actually happens pretty frequently. Music helps me understand everything I'm feeling. With singing I also picked up playing the piano which I really love. I do these things for me, honestly, and I consider myself lucky if anyone wants to take the time out of their day to listen.

DO YOU HAVE ANY REGRETS,

Of course I do--don't we all? I've gone through my fair share of struggles in my fairly young age and...I haven't always handled them in the best or most rewarding way possible. In my first year of high school, at the first high school I ever went to which was a public school like McKinley, I was in a situation very similar to Kurt's where I was heavily bullied because of my sexuality. I didn't have anyone to turn to for advice after...after what happened. I was scared and alone and I did what I lot of people do when they're afraid. I ran. And while I was relieved at first to be away from that school, away from those people, as time passed and wounds healed, I realized the finality of what I'd done. I let bullies chase me away and I regretted it for a very, very long time.

  I know that the chances of me being able to change them and the way that they thought are slim, but it doesn't stop me from wishing I'd staying just a little longer. I wish I'd tried, I wish I'd stood up to them and tried to make them understand.

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD CHANGE ABOUT YOURSELF AFTER SEEING YOUR DOUBLE OR WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE ABOUT YOUR DOUBLE,

Well...I'm not really that arrogant, am I? I mean...yes, I know I'm a good enough singer and performer and I believe in my abilities, but Devon is...he's something else. If I'm anything like that, at all, I would hope someone wouldbe perfectly honest and tell me and, yes, I would change that about myself. In a heartbeat. Don't get me wrong, he's not a bad person in any sense, but his personality is definitely a little off-putting. I just...I know we look alike, but other than that I don't see very much of myself in him. His arrogance is definitely something I'd like to maybe see him tone down a little, and as for myself...it might be nice to have some of his confidence. He's so sure of himself, and while I'm glad I'm not like him, I'd be lying if I said I didn't hope I could feel that confident (mind you, I would try to handle that confidence with a lot more grace) in myself some day.

DESCRIBE WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO WAKE UP AND SEE YOURSELF ONLY DIFFERENT,

To be perfectly honest? I didn't believe it at first--that we're the same person. Yes, he has my face--anyone can see that--but we're so...opposite that I felt like someone slapped my face on an entirely different person. At first I thought maybe I woke up in the middle of the night or I was sleepwalking and took a very large dosage of cold medicine (don't ask; cold medicine messes with my head) or something. Listening to him talk, watching his behavior and the way he interacts with other people...it makes me question myself. It makes me wonder how much of him I have in me and just can't see. The other doubles are just as strange...seeing Kurt, or someone who looks just like him, with Sam is...uncomfortable, to say the least. The same goes for seeing Devon with Ryan--Sam's double--actually. It's all...very, very confusing.

♣ THE CHARACTERS BACKGROUND

Blaine grew up with a fairly conservative family, where appearance was always important, manners were almost constantly upheld, everyone (okay, mostly Cooper) was begged to be on their behavior in the presence of company, and no one really talked about their feelings. On the surface, though he didn't like to admit it, Blaine was privileged. He was from an upper-middle class family who could afford to grant both him and his brother all of their childish whims; Blaine had private piano lessons, his dresser overflowing with clothes, and his room filled with toys. But where he was spoiled materialistically, there was a distinct lack of normalcy in his family dynamic.

He was aware that his parents loved him, but it wasn't until he was older that he saw how very little they said it or acted on it. Cooper often roped him into performances to put on for family occasions and eventually gatherings between neighbors, and Blaine finally had a taste of the attention he’d been lacking. Singing and dancing turned from hobby to passion, though Cooper seemed to look at it as another way to criticize Blaine, something the younger Anderson learned to deal with instead of talk about—because the Andersons never talk about their problems. Blaine broke that long-standing tradition the day he finally told his older brother that he was gay and, soon after, his parents. Cooper, at least, didn’t seem to mind for which Blaine was grateful, but his parents were a different story entirely. His mother didn’t seem to know what to do with the information and he was pretty sure his father didn’t look at him for a week (then again, that could be due to the fact that Blaine ducked out of the room too quickly to give his father a chance), and when they did talk, it was only ever about sports or cars, and if the conversation steered too far out of those and very few other subjects, things grew uncomfortably tense. They never really managed to fix the problem—not even after Blaine and his date were attacked outside of a Sadie Hawkins dance at school. Even if it made them horrifically uncomfortable, Blaine knew they cared; Cooper flew in from California and all they stayed with him through the experience, waited by his bedside in the hospital until he woke up, and his mom cried when he did. But still, they didn’t talk about it. Instead, they talked about Dalton Academy, where Blaine would board because the drive was too far to make. 

He grew significantly at Dalton. Where he'd felt like a terrified child at his first school and in his first month or two at Dalton, it was the only place he'd ever felt as if he really fit. As time went on, the timid and skittish Anderson boy turned into a young man with a confident exterior. Once the blazer was on, Blaine was a proper gentleman, the Warblers' lead soloist, always put together, (except for maybe those few times he jumped on that lovely Italian leather couch...oops), and his friends, the Warblers, seemed to like him as he was. He pushed other parts of himself aside, things he was sure the Warblers would laugh at him for and it was until Kurt Hummel came along and turned his world upside down that he was inspired to be himself. He still struggles with it, he still keeps pieces of himself hidden from his friends, but he's finding it progressively easier to open up to the New Directions.

Ever since Blaine transferred to McKinley and moved back home, things had started looking up between him and his parents. Even if they hadn't been totally on board with the transfer at first, something seemed to have drawn them at least a little closer together as a family. Maybe it was the months apart between two years of school, maybe it was that in that time Blaine had gotten his first boyfriend and his parents were more comfortable with his sexuality (at least, he hoped so), but feeling like a real family had finally started feeling easier.

HARPER WEST. She’s 18 years old and a events coordinator at Decker Island. She was born on JANUARY 31st. She currently identifies as bisexual and is single. The role is OPEN.

Born and raised in Bantam, Connecticut, Harper was the apple of her parent’s eye. They gave her most anything she wanted, and never understood that what she wanted most of all was a live bigger than the small town had to offer.

Former high school cheerleading captain and prom queen, everyone expected Harper to marry her high school sweetheart, have 2.5 kids, and live in a house in the suburbs. She didn’t like having her life planned out for her and decided to change it. She ended her relationship and decided she needed time away.

It was by chance that Harper found herself on Decker Island. Initially on a road trip to “find herself,” she answered a listing for a job online and never looked back. While this is her first taste of independence and she tells people she’s completely on her own, her parents are actually paying for her to spend the summer away before they expect her to come back to go to school near home at Trinity College.

Working at Decker Island is Harper’s first job, and she’s  found that it’s harder than she thought it would be. Planning parties and events at home was easy. She just had to say there was a party and people begged to show up. The group staying at the resort don’t make life as simple since most are still untrusting of what’s going on, but she keeps trying.

The one part of her job that she likes, maybe even too much, is getting to know everyone. She’s always been outgoing and many would even say loud at times. Here she feels like she can be whoever she wants to be since no one knows the real her, and she’s taking full advantage of it as she’s just as likely to make up lies about herself as she is to tell the actual truth.

NAOMI FOSTER. She’s 17 years old and a line cook at the Ocean Water Grill on Decker Island. She was born on MARCH 13th. She currently identifies as straight and is single. The role is OPEN.

An only child, Naomi used to dream of having a sibling. In fact she made up an imaginary one that she played with until she was six years old. Her parents could never conceive, and ultimately decided against adopting.

As she got older and most of her friends were worried about what to wear and how to be popular, Naomi seemed oblivious to it all. She had her small circle of friends, and it was enough for her. She preferred her time in other ways.

Editor of her school newspaper and a member of the yearbook staff, she is often found watching things happen rather than getting involved herself. It’s for that reason that she also enjoys writing short stories of the fairytale variety rather than attempting to make her life one. 

In January, Naomi got a very strange start to her new year. Home alone without much to do, all she remembers is one minute she was looking through her Netflix queue, and the next she was waking up to a walking, talking, mirror version of herself there with her. She was understandably freaked out.

The two didn’t tell anyone, which wasn’t easy. When Dr. Decker got in contact with a couple months later, they were so relieved to have someone who knew, that they didn’t ask many questions. He promised them a way to undo everything, and on March 15th, a couple days after their birthday, he came through on his promise.

Naomi feels a little lost and alone now that she’s the only one left. She knows it sounds silly since she’d spent all of her life minus those few months just being her, but it’s different. Almost like she lost part of herself when her double was sent back home.

Dr. Decker has encouraged her to share her story with the group that arrived at the island, but it feels personal to her, and she hasn’t shared much.

TANNER GREEN. He’s 17 years old and a lifeguard at Decker Island. He was born on MAY 1st. He currently identifies as straight and is single. The role is OPEN.

Born in San Diego, California, Tanner spent most of his life bouncing around the foster care system after his grandmother was no longer able to take care of him at the age of 10. It was a tough life, and he had to learn to adapt quickly to survive.

One thing he always loved was the water and being anywhere near it. When he was young, he used to beg his grandma to let him to go the beach as much as possible. Swimming and surfing are still his favorite things to do. Out in the water is where he feel most calm.

Tanner has a short fuse at times, and it gets him into trouble more than he would life. Coupled with his trust issues, It’s made relationships difficult to maintain, but it never stops him from going after what he wants. 

When Tanner was 15, he got busted for selling pot. Looking at spending time in juvie, he instead gave up the names of his supplier and everyone he knew. Word of what he’d done got out, and he knew he was in trouble. 

It was one night when running from a couple guys that things really got weird. One minute he’d turned into an alley with no escape, and the next he woke up on the beach. At first he’d thought he’d blacked out after a beating, but he didn’t have a scratch on him. When he tried to go back to the apartment he was living in, he found strangers there, and the weirdness only continued. It wasn’t until he met Dr. Decker that he found out what had really happened.

Tanner’s double from this world died in a car accident a month before he showed up. Unable to take over the life of a dead guy, and unwilling to go back to his own, he chose to stay and create a new identity. He’s never told anyone about what happened to him outside of Dr. Decker, as he figures they’d never believe him. Being around a group that has gone through the same thing however, is tempting him to change that.

The summer is Tanner’s favorite time of year despite having to work. This is his second summer hanging out on the island. He’s happy this year since in his opinion, the island attracted a lot of eye candy.

ZACHARY SULLIVAN. He’s 19 years old and an assistant to Dr. Decker and current resident at Decker Island. He was born on JANUARY 21st. He currently identifies as straight and is single. The role is OPEN.

Zachary is a freshman at Columbia University where he has yet to declare a major. While he is extremely smart, his grades are mediocre at best. If it’s not something that catches his interest, then he normally doesn’t bother putting in much effort despite the damage it does to his grades. It frustrates his parents and many of his teachers, but Dr. Decker sees it as a challenge and has taken the boy under his wing.

The youngest of three siblings, Zach was showered with attention by his stay at home dad. The two did everything together, and are still close despite Zach attending school in New York and his parents being back home in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

He occasionally gets homesick, but he also enjoys the chance to spread his wings and live on his own for the first time. He was debating going back home for the summer, but once Dr. Decker offered him the chance to work for him and stay on the island while doing so, Zach jumped at the chance.

Doesn’t always make friends easily, but not from lack of effort. His awkwardness often gets in his own way. Rather than get down on himself about it, it instead makes him appreciate the friendships that he is able to make more.

Zach was skeptical when hearing about what Dr. Decker had planned. He is aware that science can do amazing things, but it was too much for even him to believe. It wasn’t until the doubles showed up that he saw it wasn’t an elaborate joke. He’s enjoying getting to know everyone more than he thought he would, but sometimes he still views them all as a science experiment.
