One way to know if your are procrastinating is if you end up organizing your entire bookshelf by color instead of doing whatever it is you need to do (notice how I say bookshelf and not random other book piles that I cut out of the picture). Also darn you multicolored covers! You make life so much harder.

Also, here’s a 100% candid, unstaged photo of my desk today. It’s a mess, but I consider it a huge improvement from about 9 months ago.

I underwent oral surgery yesterday so the orange juice is there as the only substance I can consume and the ice pack is there so my face doesn’t swell up like a balloon tomorrow. 

Are any of you guys hoarders like me and just have too much stuff? What do you do with it?

Kicking off my return to tumblring with beginning the #100DAYPROJECT! What’ll hopefully be the result will be 100 days of doodling/Pawly derpiness. More information about it can be found here.

As my computer is so kindly reminding me today, it’s national park week! Which is to say that it is a week for national parks, not a national week for parks (but personally, I think it could go either way). I’m a tree-climbing fanatic so I know what I’ll be doing tomorrow ;)

Life Update #1

Hey y’all! Sorry I’ve been gone so long. I’ve become really occupied with things in my personal life, but now I can say that I’m back! Maybe...

I think most of my content will be going into Tumblr now, since it’s the most convenient for me. I also might be switching up aforesaid content a little bit since I’ve really been getting into lifestyle, studyblr, etc. recently. This means more personal posts versus just art and reblogs.

OpenToonz Basics

I decided to jump into the program and figure it out. So, here’s a super quick and dirty guide to all the basic info you might need.

Toolbar / Brushes

The toolbar is automatically hidden. You can get it with Windows > Other Windows > Toolbar

It will open as a pop-up and you can drag it and snap it into place.

Timeline

The timeline is a little different from Flash/Toonboom Harmony in that it reads more like a x-sheet. Layers (”Columns”) go from left to right and Frames go top to bottom.

Right-clicking on a frame will give you options to put the frame on 2′s, etc. (the “step” option).

Onion Skin

This was one of the more confusing ones. You can get to it with Customize > Preferences > Onion Skin

Be sure to check the box next to “Onion Skin ON”.

Getting onion skin to work in the timeline is a little weird at times. Like in Flash and Harmony, there are markers you can drag to expand the onion skin. If you aren’t seeing your previous drawing, try putting your frame on 2′s.

Viewing Your Work

To play your animation you’re going to need to open a new window by going to Windows > ComboViewer

It has play, loop, etc.

Anyway I hope that helps! Basically just play around with it.

Look I finally drew again.

When you make an animated film, you end up making A TON of drawings.  A lot of those drawings are just to help describe how something is constructed or how it should move.  Those drawings can get boring.  So to keep it fun, the Zootopia drawings got weirder and weirder.  Here’s some mildly weird ones.

Sort of follow up from the hair tutorial yesterday, mixing in a bit of this quick tutorial too. Hopefully this is easy enough to understand ^^’ one of those things that can change a lot depending on the animation.
