i know this one turned out a bit angsty, and yeah, i enjoy playing with the bishop clancy concept — but i genuinely believe that everything’s going to be alright. call me delusional — maybe i am, idk — but i’m completely sure they’ll get through all of this. all of us will.

sure, scars will remain, and we might have nightmares for the rest of our lives. there are things you can never forget, things you can’t undo. and yes, there are wounds that never fully heal. those injuries won’t disappear — we’ll just learn to cope.

the focus of the ending isn’t about winning the war (you can’t really “win” when it comes to mental health). it’s about learning to cope. and obviously this is just my headcanon, but i believe in it so much that in my world, in my reality, the ending goes like this:

after defeating the bishops (while accepting the darker parts of himself or something), and freeing the people of Dema, Clancy and the Banditos return to Trench. the next chapter of their story is about searching for — and finding — a new home. finding love and sunny days. learning to enjoy life and all the beautiful little things.

it’s about accepting that some things can’t be changed, but you learn to live with them. it’s a part of life. and it’s gonna be okay. we’re all going to be okay.
