Scar has SUCH a victim complex and we really should talk about it more.
In an average Scar pov of the Life Series, two things are basically guaranteed:
a.) Scar never does anything wrong. Any perceived wrongdoing on Scar's part is simply him being silly and goofy which people keep blowing it out of proportion. Or he really didn't mean to do anything wrong and people are just so paranoid and keep misinterpreting his good intentioned actions. Or he did something bad but it wasn't his idea and some outside force made him and it wasn't that big a deal anyways when you think about it.
b.) Everyone's out to get Scar. People wrongfully don't trust him because they're just blind to his inherent trustworthiness. People are always shooting down his brilliant plans because they hate fun or are just mean. People take advantage of him when he's never done anything wrong to them (if you think he has done anything wrong, see point a). People betray him so much, him, the silliest funnest most trustworthy teammate who only wants friendship.
Now, a lot of this is tactical on Scar's part, to give credit where credit is due! Scar is in fact very intelligent, and most of the time he knows what he's doing! A lot of time Scar plays innocent and dumb because playing innocent and dumb keeps working to get him what he wants and to keep him out of trouble. People buy into the facade with shocking ease. And the really clever thing is that even when people don't buy into the facade, there's no argument. Because it doesn't matter if Scar is as dumb and innocent as he pretends to be (he's not), people can't prove he doesn't believe what he says, so they don't waste energy arguing, and he gets away with a shocking amount because of it. Scar is incredible at playing with tactical facades and twisted narratives. So yes, a lot of Scar's "victim complex" is tactic, not necessarily a genuinely held belief on Scar's end.
That being said, I think sometimes Scar gets so caught up in his own false narratives that he starts to believe them, and I think Scar can be painfully, and ironically, blind to his own faults. When he says he felt abandoned and betrayed by everyone in Last Life, I believe he meant it, though I'd argue he actively pushed people away and was the reason nobody trusted him. When he says he treated Grian right and "built him a panda sanctuary" in Double Life, I think Scar actually means that, though it's factually incorrect. When he says he was "forced" to be alone in Secret Life, I'm sure he meant that too, though again I'd argue Scar had a very active role in self isolating.
While I think Scar is a very intelligent person who very much purposefully crafts narratives that benefit him, I also think Scar is a person who likes to live in those narratives, someone who uses his boundless imagination to integrate himself into the realities he builds so seamlessly that they start to feel real. I think this is a very efficient coping mechanism, in a lot of ways, for Scar to blame any genuine suffering he has entirely on outside persecution and minimize his own responsibility. It's comforting, if nothing else.
But this self imposed hand crafted victim complex doesn't actually help with the ways Scar really struggles the most. Scar consistently struggles with isolation, whether through literal distance from other players or simply emotional inability to connect. And unfortunately, most of it is a result of Scar's own behavior. Scar lies, Scar cheats, Scar pushes people away. Scar is the reason nobody trusts him. Scar is the one who consistently refuses to seek out companionship even when he needs it. This is an agonizingly fixable problem, but it's one Scar cannot see the solution to, because ironically his own cunning and creative mind has spun a web so thick it's trapped him inside, and he can't see past it to realize he has the way out!
Anyways sorry for rambling I'm just insane about Scar, he has such a brilliant mind and the tongue to back it up but his fatal flaw has always been in how his creative mind loses itself in its own false narratives until he cannot see the exit door five feet in front of him. He's sooooooooooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

damian has to be the funniest batkid because he looked back on all the crazy bullshit all his older siblings did during their rebellious phases like going on murderous rampages, running away to strike out alone as a vigilante in a different city, becoming a crime lord, and then proceeded to accurately predict ‘what can i do to top that and actually freak Batman out?’ and immediately applied for medical school.

I still think it’s hilarious that the reason nobody ever figures out Superman’s secret identity or where he lives or what he does when he’s not saving the planet, is because he already told them all the Kryptonian stuff that can’t be tied to any of his human friends or family. I guarantee you the in-universe wikipedia article on Superman lists his name as Kal-El and the “personal life” section says that he lives full-time at his private fortress of solitude at the north pole. Nobody in the world looks at Clark Kent and thinks “oh my god, maybe he’s superman!” for the same reason nobody ever starts to suspect that their coworker who looks KINDA like Barack Obama is actually secretly Barack Obama – They know who Barack Obama is and know what he does and they know their coworker Greg is Greg and not Barack Obama. They have no reason to assume Barack Obama secretly moonlights as Greg The IT Guy at their workplace even though they’ve never seen Greg and Obama in the same place. At best, “Greg is secretly Obama” would be a running joke at the office, and the same is true at the Daily Planet. “Kal-El of Krypton, who lives in a CRYSTAL PALACE at the NORTH POLE and whose dayjob is SUPERMAN, sometimes puts on a suit and pretends to be a clumsy reporter and lives in a one-bedroom walkup in Metropolis” is a ridiculous concept to anyone who doesn’t already know it’s true

what ppl defending kids on ipads don’t seem to understand is that there are other ways to keep kids occupied. my mom had a whole bag full of little toys and games for me to play with while waiting in lines at disney world. once your kid is like 7 or 8 they can read a book. they can color. or they can literally just sit there and imagine things. i did that a lot as a kid.
#i didn't have a phone until i was well into middle school and even then only for texting my parents for getting picked up#and i'm in gen z#i read so much my parents used to worry about me going outside lol#my brother and i did legoes. before spotify we passed road trips with imaginary games. we wrestled.#i used to just make up stories for him and a lot of them were improvised and very bad but we both loved them#when friends visited i wrote plays and got everyone to act them out#i swear if me or my brother ever have kids i am fighting for their limited internet use for up until middle school#i am getting them books and coloring pencils and cards#learn to do magic tricks kiddos#it's more fun than any ipad game and i say that as someone who enjoys occasional minecraft today

I dont know how White fandom ppl will watch a movie or series with like a 99% nonwhite cast & a plot focusing on them & their culture, but instead will hyperfocus on the one or two White characters (often ones that are there specifically to be the villians and are racist) that are there and then not think that that's weird
#most of the reblogs are talking about sinners which i haven't seen but sounds about right#i was thinking about the knives out movies#marta and helen are both so cool#and yet when i try to find anything about these movies#it's always about benoit blanc's once-referenced gay romance and/or the villainous white guys of the movies being actually Cool and Hot#please. please the main characters are these wonderful poc women.#please they deserve so much better i'm begging

Impulse really should've known it wasn't Bdubs.
It's in the posture, the glint in his eyes that looks less like sunlight and more like a razor blade. It's in the lips pulled into a smirk, only a hint of teeth in sight.
He should've noticed sooner. But gods help him, he's exhausted and just the idea of Bdubs was enough to help.
...Was, because Impulse realized this wasn't Bdubs at all.
So here they are, Grian under Bdubs' skin, back to just poking and prodding at Impulse, laughing the way Bdubs doesn't— not quite the guffaw he's known and loved but the same voice shaped around a different sound.
Impulse stares at him, just a beat too long, but it's enough.
Grian smiles with Bdubs' teeth. Impulse's stomach turns.
"What?" Grian asks, tilting his head. The wind makes white hair sway. "What'cha lookin' at, sweetie?"
Impulse freezes, his blood going cold, icicles forming where fondness should have shone through. Maybe it's the exhaustion, the irritation, the knowing smugness in Grian's eyes, but one moment Impulse is here and the next—
VOOMP!
A flash of purple, the space between them shut in a blink. Impulse's heart pounds in his ears as he heaves Grian up by the neck, his feet dangling off the ground.
Grian laughs. The sound bubbles out of him and gurgles past his lips like blood. Impulse tightens his grip.
The words burn themselves past his tongue, "Don't you dare."
Scarred lips twitch into a grin.
"Didn't mean to… Hit a nerve…" Grian gasps out, hands around Impulse's wrist. "You gonna… Kill me, Impulse?"
And maybe he would've. Actually, scratch that, he definitely would've. Nine lifetimes out of ten, Grian would've been dead where he (didn't) stand.
But he was wearing Bdubs' face.
(Like you've never killed him before, His mind spits. Like you've never enjoyed it—)
Impulse lets him go.
Grian gasps, coughing and breathing in lungfuls of air. The look in his eye— knowing and amused and all too smug— burns hot against Impulse's skin. "Yeesh," He says, voice raw. Scratchy. "Still got it bad, huh?"
Impulse bristles, "What, like you're any better?" Grian scoffs.
"Never said that," He mutters, dusting himself off. He snaps his fingers, and the space around him shifts— "Ah, that's better."
Grian (the real one, this time) meets his gaze, "Just saying. Pot, meet kettle."
Impulse lets out a huff, rolls his eyes as he turns away.
Footsteps thud against the grass, Grian's shadow getting further away.
"At least you admit it now."

I know Dogwarts is often seen as a super loyal and unified group in fanon, but from a recent rewatch of Third Life, this is honestly my read on Dogwarts as a group.
