Stuff to remember for tomorrow's spell work

September 9th, 2018: New Moon in Virgo/Venus Enters Scorpio.

Hello, hello Tumblr! Welcome to Virgo season. It’s that time of the year again when we’re being asked by the Universe to harvest the fruits of our labor, gather ourselves, and be ready for whatever future comes. The energy here is less flamboyant and fiery than what we’ve been recently exposed to. Leo season was a spicy boi as always but moving into September, we’ll be more interested in putting our lives back together, than blasting it apart.

Virgo is the “intellectual earth” sign, after all. It’s focused, analytical, and service-based. And a bit (a lot) of a perfectionist. It’ll have us donning our detective caps, holding up our magnifying glasses, and inspecting our lives with a fine-toothed comb. Looking for clues. Categorizing data. Making internal lists. One million lists. Virgo, whose responsibility is transitioning the world from summer to the darker seasons, is insisting that we get organized. That we think “real”. That we act efficiently while discerning the ripe from the rot in our progress. There’s no room for nonsense with this star-clad virgin. While the sunlight is still shining strong, Virgo knows that winter is fast approaching. And that for the unprepared or lazy, the winter can be cruel.

In true Virgo fashion, I have decided to construct this “astro blah” into a list. I thought it might be easier for some of my readers to take in. Plus I’m experimenting with new ways to relay information so here it goes!

It’s a new moon in Virgo. We’ll be initiating a process of analysis. At 17 degrees of Virgo, that analysis will be targeting our internal and external dialogues. We won’t be thrilled/concerned with flowery prose or lovely sentiments. We’ll want the honest truth. And we’ll want to know where we stand in our relationships to ourselves and others.

The new moon occurs at precisely 11: 01 am PST. For those of you on the east coast, the new moon happens a little later at 2: 01 pm.

Mercury speeding through the sign of Virgo alongside the new moon emphasizes this need for honesty and integrity. At 6 degrees of Virgo, it gives us the ability to see patterns, and trends more clearly. We’ll be able to graphically chart where we’ve seen “that” before. Because we have seen that before. And by “that”, I mean the bullshit narratives we or others have created which keep us trapped in disharmony.

Venus has been comfortable in diplomatic Libra since the first week of August. Perhaps we’ve indulged in people-pleasing or keeping the illusion of peace a little too much? Because for the new moon, Venus moves into Scorpio just before it’s retrograde in October. Our planet of love and relationships is done with being surface-level nice. Done with being “pleasant” for everyone. Venus in Scorpio will demand that we deepen our relationships through a love that dives beneath the surface. It might have us getting obsessive in Virgo season, connecting the dots of our romantic affairs, and making a conspiracy board of theories. Venus in Scorpio wants to get down to the roots of our hearts. There might be some major reality checks about love delivered to us during this time. Especially if your relationships contain unhealthy power dynamics. Expect this trend to deepen when Venus goes retrograde in Scorpio next month. This new moon is foreshadowing for that.

Neptune Opposition! The planet of spirituality and illusion is directly across the board from the new moon in Virgo. What does this mean exactly? It means that the Universe isn’t valuing daydreams, delusions, and fantasies-unless it’s grounded in reality. Do not believe in the things we think/feel happened, believe in the things that are happening/have happened. A Neptune Opposition means that things aren’t quite as they appear so PREDATORY TRICKSTER ALERT!!! This is a time where deceivers are wielding their tricks and our intuitions might actually be turned around. Keep your feet in the earth, your mind focused on actual facts, and your attention on what’s directly in front of you. Someone might try to convince you of something false or take advantage of your confusion. This Neptune Opposition during a Virgoan New Moon is challenging our ability to stay self-aware and not get caught up in someone else’s tangled web. I urge the more sensitive of us to ward and protect your energy from any sort of vampirism on the new moon. Neptune is still retrograding in ruling sign of Pisces. This might be a time of increased nightmares, escapism, victimization, and lies.

Venus is squaring Mars while Neptune is in opposition. We might be tempted to pick a fight with our significant other/s over things that aren’t actually happening. Venus is opposing Uranus, encouraging our total autonomy, or the unconventional if we must engage in romance at all. Venus in Scorpio doesn’t settle for anything less than real love. Love that transcends fear. Right now isn’t a good time to make commitments to our significant others if we don’t intend to follow through or else we risk their bitterness and disillusionment. But it is a really good time to experiment with our sexual kinks if we have any. Venus in Scorpio opposing Uranus in Taurus will want us to explore all the weird quirks that make us secretly horny. Also angry sex.

Helping us out with our amplified sensitivity, we have several aspects working in our favor! There’s a really nifty sextile with Jupiter that’ll have us using that heightened sensitivity to meet philosophical differences as opportunities to learn more about ourselves and others. It’ll encourage emotional growth in all of our relationships, help us to overcome perceived set backs, and rain down fortune on those who want to advance themselves emotionally. It might even help expand our social network as well. Jupiter is in sextile with Pluto as well, lending positive transformation to the deal, and assisting us with adjusting our relationships into a healthier dynamic. Or expanding our relationships into deeper, more intimate levels. This aspect and it’s benefits unlock depending on our ability to speak honestly about our feelings. With Jupiter sextile Pluto and the New Moon, change will flow naturally, and reshape our social structures into more organic connections.

The new moon is trining Pluto, retrograding in 18 degrees of Capricorn, and represented by the sabian symbol of a hunting leopard with green eyes. This energy is intense. It’s probing. It wants to get down to the dirty details. It’s aware of it’s position and the position of others. It’ll give us the confidence we need to stand up for ourselves amidst competition, confront our aggressors, and expose any lies or secrets we find along the way towards our goals. While there is a chance we could get negatively fixated in this energy which seeks the truth very intently, possibly scaring others, it’s softened a little by it’s sextile to Jupiter. Therefore, it’ll be an aid to us. Especially during this Virgo season where we’re checking the authenticity of our relationships with ourselves and others. The truth will ultimately come out and transform us, one way or another, underneath this influence. With Pluto on the prowl, there’s nowhere to hide your secrets.

Saturn just got out of retrograde! While we most likely won’t feel it until later this month, the planet of heaviness, karmic debt, and responsibility is turning back the tides in our favor. It’s currently in 2 degrees of Capricorn, encouraging us to remove the “rotten tooth” in our mouths (so to speak), and banish the structures which no longer serve in our best interests. Again, this theme of weeding out relationships that are putrid reiterates. But it’s really for the best. A rotten tooth must eventually be pulled or else it’ll cause a serious infection. The same holds true with rotten relationships.

The elemental vibes during this new moon are comprised solely of water and earth. There are no planets in air or fire signs this time around. That does not make the energies any less intense, however. Jupiter in Scorpio, Neptune in Pisces, and Pluto in Capricorn will be tag teaming the new moon, amping up the big moods, and putting a spotlight on our subjective reality. We might experience deep emotions that feel so poignantly we could burst. We might be powerfully moved and influenced by the emotions of others. This thing that Neptune, Jupiter, and Pluto are doing reminds me of the “Point of View” gun from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Probably the Universe encouraging us to mend our relationships in one way or another by having us be ultra aware of our feelings. Especially the feelings of others. No running into disassociation to protect you unless you desire a Neptune Opposition smack down from life. With this increased propensity to feel and be felt, I urge the super sensitive to ground, and shield themselves from psychic attack or empathic overload.

Make sure to take advantage of that Mars in Capricorn! Mars is the planet of vitality, action, and war. When it’s in the sign of Capricorn, all that ferocity, and go get ‘em is put to excellent use! We have a higher probability here to build things in our lives and have the determination to put in the required step work. It’ll be in Capricorn for the new moon but a day after, Mars will rampage over into Aquarius, where we’ll be seeing the future a lot more clearly. Make sure to build the future you want to see on the new moon.

The North Node is in Leo and the South Node is in Aquarius. These nodes indicate themes of where “the past” and where “the future” is going in any planetary chart. The future for the new moon is in finding yourself apart from the relationships you have or had. The past is in the collective, in groups of people, and their ideals for your future. That past needs releasing. It no longer serves the higher purpose of your life. There are better groups calling for your presence. The North Node in Leo/South Node in Aquarius denotes the strong desire to be part of a group, to be seen as a valuable person in that group. But the lesson here is that your uniqueness, not pandering for approval, will ultimately give you the real validation that your soul needs. Whatever form that validation takes. Let your true light shine. As cliché as it sounds, just be yourself. That’ll win you the friends and support your heart needs in your life. People-pleasing will have you feeling totally alone in a group of people called “friends” who don’t really care for you or know you at all.

For those of you witchy spellcasters out there who want to utilize this new moon in their spells, I suggest shadow work this time. That Neptune Opposition is making magic a little wonky and backwards at the moment, throwing illusions at us, and clouding our intuition with an overload of stimulus that might just be our fears in disguise. Since Pluto’s trine to the new moon is predominantly the beneficial energy here, I would suggest initiating some sit downs, and hashing it out with our inner demons. Use that underworld death-energy to transform and rebirth you, your relationships, and your life into one that you’re excited to live in. And who knows? Those inner demons might be lost parts of yourself that just need a little understanding and attention. I’d also suggest using the picture doodle above like a sigil to tap into that new moon energy.

So to sum it up; Real eyes realize real lies.

Our Virgo season of 2018 will be tasking us with the separation of negative relationships/groups in our lives from the positive relationships/groups in our lives. We might find ourselves overflowing with emotions as the truth about how we feel comes pouring out this month and well into October where we face the biggest spooky skeleton of 2018: A Venus retrograde in Scorpio. We’ll be starting a dialogue that foreshadows that Venus retrograde during the new moon. It might even just start out as a thought or a simple question to ourselves. Are we being taken for a ride? Are we really keeping the company of ravenous wolves? Are our interactions faked or genuine? More importantly, are others being genuine with us? Or are they lying through their teeth to keep us dumb, complacent, and benefiting them to our detriment? We’re gonna find out. Everything will go under investigation. And you’re the main super sleuth! With that Neptune Opposition, tricksters, and shape shifters are afoot! If something doesn’t seem right, if it sounds, or looks suspicious even for a second…put it under a microscope before you buy into it. And try not to take the wildly flaring emotions too personally. This is basically emotional-psychic gut vomit from months of avoidance since before the retrogrades began.

Anything broken during this new moon has a chance to be healed as long as we take this as an opportunity to learn. Ultimately, Pluto will take all of these things, and transform them into a deeper kind of love for Venus in Scorpio (ruled by Pluto) who’s demanding our relationships have substance. Or that we have no relationship at all and go solo.
