Hey I just wanted to thank you for posting all this stuff online! I was trying to figure out how to make the pokemon 5e homebrew work and then I found this! My only question is how are you doing damage for damaging items? Maybe I missed it but I can't find where you explained your decision on rock and stick damage.
Hello lovely anon! I’m glad you’re enjoying this resource ^_^
Some of the damages for thrown items were things I actually remembered when playing the games, like how Blast Seeds are always 25 damage. Some though, I couldn’t remember, and after hunting around found Bulbapedia’s list here that tells you damage and even price of thrown items. Hope this helps, and happy DMing!

Session 2, Part 1-Crux Cove Introduction
((This session I decided will be broken up into 2 parts, because a lot happened in it. The major summary will be mentioned below, but specifics will be split up.))
Last time my players met, it ended with them rescued by two members of the local Adventurer’s Club, Mudkip and Shroomish, who took them to the outskirts of Crux Cove, the campaign’s main city.
In this session, they spent the majority of the time exploring Crux Cove, joining the Adventurer’s Club, and going on their first mission for the Club: explore one of the region’s most recently opened mystery dungeons known as Crux Cave because of its proximity to town.
For details on part 1 of the session, read on below.
First off, my player for Sir Mixalot couldn’t come, so all of what happened is implied that Sir Mixalot was with them anyways, but didn’t have an active role.
When they reached town, the group first spent some time admiring Crux Cove, for it was impressive. An area of mostly dark rock and sand, colorful houses lined the cove, which also had five docks, all of them mysteriously empty. They could also see an avenue with brightly built shops, and a massive tent on the hill in the shape of a Jigglypuff that Mudkip and Shroomish confirmed was The Adventurer’s Club.
Poor Vito contemplated what happened to him in Tidepool Tower, and had his first homesickness for his human life. Denki and Caesar decided that they wanted to visit the Timburr Tavern after it was recommended to them by Mudkip and Shroomish who needed to return to the Adventurer’s Club. Still, the two also said to visit them any time at The Adventurer’s Club, and wished them well.
The two headed into town and joined everyone at the lively Timburr Tavern, where Timburr and Munchlax worked and served a large variety of Pokemon who came to eat and drink. It was as the two sat that they were joined with an overtly friendly Haunter with a German accent who introduced himself as Häns.
After talking to them for a while and eventually having Vito join them, they discovered that Häns had originally woken up with the group, but had decided to trail them throughout their actual adventure and disappear when he felt like it so as to avoid the initial danger. The group had mixed reactions to this, but let him continue to hang out with them anyways, even though Häns played a prank on Vito that involved putting him to sleep through Hypnosis after Vito made a slightly ominous comment about “sending him flowers”. Caesar did not help the situation, since he made flowers sprout on Vito instead.
After that silliness, the group decided they should look for some kind of employment, and decided to visit the Adventurer’s Club after eating and drinking their fill. When they visit, they were first identified by a Diglett, then ushered inside because Mudkip and Shroomish recognized them. At entering, they discovered the Club has only 5 members: Jigglypuff, Mudkip, Shroomish, Diglett, and an Oddish, which the group was surprised about, and asked why.
Jigglypuff, who is the Head Mistress of the club, explained that at one point in time they had more members who helped keep order and do missions for the Pokemon of Crux Cove, but when calamity struck the world, a lot of them fled and became less willing to be a part of the club.
The group was further confused, and after some more questioning, Mudkip and Shroomish admitted that “everybody has stayed the same for the past 5 years” and it has made many Pokemon angry and violent, and has caused the Mystery Dungeons to begin appearing on the continent.
Jigglypuff then eagerly asked if they wanted to join the club as they would be paid, and the group said yes. At that she gave them each their Badges and bags where they can each hold up to 16 items at a time. Vito, who was wary about the specifics after hearing dungeons could be dangerous, tried to question Jigglypuff, but she flounced away to her room without answering. Shroomish then admitted to the group that Jigglypuff is quite eccentric and sassy, and to “never expect her to do what you want her to.”
The group accepted this, although they were slightly put off because they also saw that Jigglypuff did not treat the timid Oddish kindly, and even declared he was “useless, and not allowed to go into dungeons” and is instead their cook. It was during that exchange that she also blurted an easter egg of how it’s hard for her to get good help, and that sometimes she regrets following in her father’s footsteps, although I don’t know if my players picked up on that. Jigglypuff was only negative to Oddish, however, and that’s all the group could tell about how she treats the members of the Club overall.
After that they were shown to their new room, and the group went to bed contemplating what happened to them and hoping that the next day they could start working and exploring more of the town.
For Part 2 of the session, see the next post!

Thank you! It’s definitely been slow (and involving a lot of hacking up of my lungs) but today was a day I could tell I’m getting better.

Hello everyone!
Quick update: my group had their session 2 this past weekend, and I will slowly be putting up a lot of posts in relation to that soon, since it’s also covering more of the world I’ve been building up for this campaign.
I haven’t been around much due to illness, but I think I’m almost out of the woods which is great! I’ve hated feeling like death. So yeah, more to come!

How are you gonna calc the Accuracy of moves with < 100? I was considering just dividing the difference by 5 and subtracting it from the roll (ex: fissure's got a 30 accuracy, so it'd be 1d20 - 12, with a floor of 1)
Hi there!
Honestly, I just made it as easy as possible for myself to DM by just letting dice rolls, Move DC’s, and AC account for accuracy. From a DM standpoint, though, you can do whatever you want. I tried to make this system with enough rules to start people off, but open ended enough where future DMs could implement whatever they want.
I just went the easy route myself because Pokemon has so many multi-faceted rules as is that some things just gotta get condensed.
Another way I could see accuracy being used, though, is increasing the CR of some moves, but that could also be tedious.

hey there! do you have a discord server for this? it would be amazing if there was a place to chat with people that have tried out the system and what not!
Hi there!
I do have a Discord server, however, it’s being used for the online players currently. If enough people liked the idea, though, I could think about creating one!

where can i find interactable versions of the character sheets?
Hi there! Sorry if I’m seeing this late. I’ve been battling an illness, sadly.
Can you explain what you mean exactly by interactable? Because those that are up definitely work for printing out. As for an actual document you can change, that would be more in the works.

Session 1-Tidepool Tower
Our first adventure began in a rather interesting fashion.
To start, one my friends surprised me by joining on, so her Eevee’s stats will have its own “Meet the Cast” post in the next coming days. Another friend couldn’t make it to last night’s session but will be in session 2, so if all of you are wondering why there’s no Haunter yet...he’ll have a rather hilarious introduction to the group for session 2.
It started with me reading the prologue found here and also playing a quick snippet of a song that...kind of acts as one of the themes of this series. The song in question is Dangerous by David Guetta ft. Sam Martin. I don’t remember if tumblr’s still weird about linking to music, but the main point of the song is:
“I don't know where the lights are taking us But something in the night is dangerous And nothing's holding back the two of us Baby this is getting serious
Oh oh oh-oh-oh Danger-Dangerous Oh oh oh-oh-oh (danger-dangerous)”
The rest of the session will be under a “read more” but to summarize quickly for those who can’t do dense reads: they survived their first dungeon, Tidepool Tower, although 1 of them had a truly epic fail, and another already fainted but was rescued by some helpful heroes. Who were they? Read on below:
Four heroes lay on a beach, sand embracing them and waves crashing not far away. The sun began its descent but still had a way to go. Everything was cast in shadow, especially from the giant porous rocks lining the shoreline. Slowly, four figures woke up with varying reactions. Two were calm, not moving much or frightened despite something being terribly wrong. One awoke in a panic, screaming about their newfound appearance. All of them, you see, had the vaguest of memories that they were all human once.
The two who were calm were Caesar, a Bulbasaur, and Vito, a Gible (who was also convinced everything was a dream, hence why he was so calm). The one who awoke in a panic introduced himself as Denki, a Dewott who then tried to meditate into a calmer state.
And lastly, the only one who awoke and then tried to scout the area was Sir Mixalot, a genderfluid Eevee whose pronouns of the week were He/Him/His.
In his scouting, Sir Mixalot discovered that an angry mob of Pokemon were descending upon the group’s location, and despite being a Bold nature who first tried to charge the incoming mob, realized they were too perilous of a group, and then boldly used his “Run Away” ability which prompted a minute of joking about the song “Brave Sir Robin” from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Caesar followed Sir Mixalot in running away, and after a brief delay from both Denki and Vito (who was convinced still that everything was a dream) they all ran away and got sucked up into their first Mystery Dungeon, Tidepool Tower.
Tidepool Tower, as I described it to the group, was a 4 Floor dungeon, with 3 actual floors of battle and 1 “rest” floor. The walls were of porous rock with slits of tide pools suspended almost like magic along the walls without spilling out, and a sandy floor.
Being the first to Run Away, Sir Mixalot was the first floor leader, and led the group on through the floor. His first encounter was with a Staryu in a battle drawn out due to Staryu’s use of Harden and everyone having issues hitting each other. Sir Mixalot did speed it up a bit by using the first Jump of the game (even though it was a fail and he took some bludgeoning damage) and having Caesar help him.
After that, the next encounter came from a Binacle that could have been avoided if the group didn’t go for a Stun Seed. That battle went faster, and then they moved on to the second floor.
The second floor didn’t have any enemies, but Caesar as floor leader found an Apple and a Max Elixir that was given to Vito. Then on the third floor is where the most trouble came.
Denki was floor leader then, and at first all seemed well until he went down a three direction tunnel blocked by a Mareanie. Denki, wanting the battle sped up, cleared a successful Jump, and had Vito join the battle against Mareanie, whose only known move at level 4 was Poison Sting. Both of their lucks ran out at that moment.
The first unfortunate bit of luck came from Vito being hit by Poison Sting, and failing his DC 10 HP Save against being Poisoned. Then, in his attempt to save Vito from fainting, Denki had the most hilariously awful series of rolls. For the next 4 rolls, Denki rolled 1-1-2-1 on four different sets of d20. Of course, after the last 1, Dan (my player for Denki) threw his dice bag on the floor and proceeded to kick it while the others had a major laughing fit.
Vito, unfortunately, did Faint during all of this despite Mareanie NOT having the ability Merciless, but after getting 3 successes, only had himself jettisoned out of the dungeon. This did make the group wonder where he went and what happened to him, but it didn’t take them long to find out.
Mareanie was eventually defeated without Denki or Sir Mixalot--who had to join in the battle after Vito fainted--being Poisoned. Denki tried to explore the floor more, but after seeing a Corsola in a room, went “fuck it” and ran off in the other direction with the group, Corsola chasing them all the way until they made it up the next staircase.
On the 4th “floor” the group made it to the top of the Tidepool Tower at sunset, with tide pools covering the porous rocks in front of them. The battle weary group could still hear the mob in the distance, but then, two Pokemon carrying the fallen and now revived Vito approached the group.
The first was a peppy Mudkip with an Australian accent, and the second was a world weary, sighing Shroomish who both introduced themselves as members of a mysterious Adventurer’s Club. They asked the group if they wanted to be saved from the mob and taken into the city, which the group eagerly agreed to.
The six then traveled until they reached the outskirts of the main city of the game, Crux Cove, and that is where we ended the session. They all leveled up to Level 6 after that ordeal, and in the next session they will get to visit the city and the Adventurer’s Club.

Another Update!
Hello everyone! I am happy to announce that this Friday (today) will be the first official session of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon live group campaign. Stumbling onto this for the first time? Check out by blog here or if you want a reminder of the prologue I’ll be reading to my players go here
A lot of stuff has been going on behind the scenes. A lot of life changes for some, a lot of switching around of who wanted to move forward and who had crazy lives preventing them from participating. My group at the moment is even going to be smaller than I originally thought, which isn’t a bad thing as it means there will be potential for more to join in later if they want!
All Pokemon who have a Meet the Cast post so far will be participating in the live group, so if you’re curious about them I can either start reblogging their posts or you can check them out yourselves on this blog.
That also means that tomorrow I will be posting the summary of what happened in session 1 for all of you to read. The style of those posts will be a chunk of summary peppered with highlights that include direct quotes of silly or ridiculous moments that go on each session. Most of the post will be under a “read more” so they don’t take up people’s dashes.
At this point in time if any of you know somebody who might be interested in what’s going on, share the word around! Anymore questions too, let me know! I’m just excited that a lot of this is finally starting, and hope you all enjoy.

Meet the Cast #4: Bulbasaur
Our group’s fourth member is none other than the first Pokemon of the Pokedex, Bulbasaur! Read on for more about how he’ll be played in tabletop!
Tumblr media
Bulbasaur is actually being played by my boyfriend Darryl, with Bulbasaur being on his list of all time faves along with a lot of Baby Pokemon. It didn’t take him long to settle on him either, and I can’t say I’m too surprised by the choice given his personality.
Being a Grass/Poison combination, Bulbasaur is weak to Fire (2), Flying (2), Ice (2), and Psychic (2), while being strong against Electric (1/2), Fairy (1/2), Fighting (1/2), Grass (1/4), and Water (1/2).
His Ability, like all Grass type starters, is Overgrow, which means that when his HP goes below 1/3, the power of his Grass type moves increases 50%. For the basis of this system, it means that when it’s below 1/3, the damage of Grass moves is doubled, like if he rolled a d20. So, for example, a move that deals 16 damage will now deal 32.
Being level 5, Bulbasaur only knows Tackle and Leer, but at level 7 he’ll learn the iconic move, Vine Whip.
And now, onto the stats!
HP   Attack   Defense   Sp. Attack   Sp. Defense   Speed   Charisma
34      12           14               12                  20                 11            12
Item Proficiency: Thorns, Seeds Spaces: 3 Proficient Skills: Perception, Stealth Personality: Calm (Special Defense +1, Attack -1) AC: 12 Move DC: 12 Saving Throws: Special Attack, Special Defense
Darryl getting a Calm Personality from the quiz didn’t surprise me in the least hahaha. He’s one of the calmest people I know, and if it wasn’t Calm it would have ended up being Relaxed, in my opinion. It really won’t be a stretch for him to roleplay, which is also nice because he’s the newest out of my cast to the world of tabletop games.
I think overall he’s excited to be playing a Bulbasaur, and I’m excited to see what he’ll do!

Tale of the Six Prologue
In the northernmost continent of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon world, forces are at work that Pokemon of the other continents have only heard rumors about. Still, everyone knows it’s because of the Mystery Continent that for the past five years, everything has been in shambles.
In a seaside town, a figure floats along the sand and stone streets, contemplating the state of the world. They’ve lain low these past five years, quietly trying to unravel the mystery that’s been plaguing them all. How, for five years now, growth has stopped completely. Days, weeks, months pass on but everyone stays the same. It doesn’t affect them personally, but others have been driven to insanity, and tensions everywhere are high.
In another part of the continent, a figure stands high on a cliff’s edge and looks out onto the world below. They scratch figures into the dirt below them with a stick, another theory to test, another avenue to explore. They have not lain low while chaos brews. They have been busy. Quiet footsteps edge closer to them and they stop their sketches, glancing behind them to see their companion waiting patiently.
“We have more work to do. I think there’s someone we finally need to check into. Let’s continue on,” they say, and so they do.
Among fire and ash, another figure thrives, ruler of the ruined. Others flock to them looking for answers, for ways to be saved, and they flourish with their growing number of allies, of those desperate and willing to do anything for them because they are strong and among the elite few with true power. Their world’s tragedy was their gain.
Yet in another part of the continent another ruler sits on their throne, arrogant and bitter. They’re as strong as ever, and ever since tragedy struck the world they have isolated their domain from all others and made their people stronger. Still, the majority of their people suffer due to what happened five years past, but they’ve chosen to simply ignore the outside world and give their land a false sense of security.
But someone hides deep in shadows, filled with more rage and desire to destroy than anything else. They have been wronged, and what they’ve done already in retaliation is not enough for them. They patiently bide their time while their servants continue to do their work. They will get their revenge.
And yet, the one who truly set all of this in motion is ignorant, continuing to do whatever they please as they rip holes into different dimensions, distorting time and space to travel and create mischief.
All the average Pokemon citizens want, though, are heroes. The Pokemon above were supposed to keep things running smoothly, and they failed. Power alone is never enough. Maybe, the Pokemon of the world think, it will take those of unlikely stock to finally set the world back into order.

A Note About the Upcoming Prologue
For those of you who will be waiting for it later today, I will in fact be posting this campaign’s prologue up for all of you to puzzle through. If any of you have theories about what you think it can mean, I’d love to hear them! Just shoot me a message.
Also, a lot of you will probably notice right off the bat that all the pronouns in it will be gender neutral. This is on purpose. I want to leave it ambiguous who the Pokemon could be, especially because each little blurb could apply to several different Pokemon who will pop up in the story (even though it IS only to one each). It’ll be up to all of you to figure out which is to which.
But otherwise, enjoy! Hope you like it!

Updates
Hello everyone!
I have been off classes since Friday, but will be on vacation from tomorrow to Sunday. I’ve got some update news, though!
In an interesting turn of events, my online group of PMD will be starting before my live group, so I am swearing them all to secrecy (lol whoops sorry guys) about what they will experience until the live group goes.
It sounds like my live group will be starting August 9th, and once it does I will have the first post up about what went down in their adventure. Before that time too, I will be sharing final Meet the Cast posts, a little more about the Mystery Continent, and the prologue of their adventure. Keep an eye out for those!
Also, I am STILL interested in a Pokemon figure giveaway when I reach 100 followers. Here’s this cutie Heracross for an idea of what the winner could expect:

Hey there! I just wanna say thanks for all this, because I've been trying to find a tabletop system for Pokemon for a while, and this is probably the more clear cut one I've come across. That said, I just wanted to check one thing: how are you handling the status chances from offensive moves? Are they all just DC 10? How would you go about adjusting them to match the 10/20/30% ect. chances the games seem to have?
Hi there!
If you’re talking about how all of them are DC 10 for status conditions from this post then the reason I capped it at 10 is because that’s what I noticed it’s most commonly capped at in regular D&D.
However, from a DM standpoint, you could change it to whatever you want it to be.
I’d suggest that it’d be dependent on either the severity of the move or if the move was a critical hit. So if you wanted to have moves that have that 30% chance compared to 10% to have a higher DC, definitely go for it. The reason I did what I did was just that it made it easier to streamline, but I could see how drastic instances or super powerful moves might be harder to avoid being paralyzed or burned, for example.

Hello everyone!
My summer classes have begun, which means I’m going to be busy for the next month and will only be able to reply to people’s messages certain days of the week!
Also! I have decided that the giveaway will in fact be for when I reach 100 followers. If you’re thinking “??? what giveaway?” it’s one where you can get your own Pokemon figurine made my me. My Kecleon is one such example of my skill, but here’s a ridiculous Magikarp I made for one of my friends:
Tumblr media
I wish I could have shown an even MORE recent figure for an example of how detailed I can get, but that would be CAMPAIGN SPOILERS so I can’t.
Anyways, hope everyone’s enjoying their summers so far, and are hyped for Pokemon Sword and Shield!
