This story still boggles my mind and doesn't feel real at all ( though I could probably dig up some of the screenshots ), but anyway, Tiktok antis are a different breed of stupid and I'd like it if they stayed on their side of the fence. This is a bit of read, bear with me.

Someone posted a video talking about Boyfriend to Death and I, loving the game, defended it. Naturally, someone comes to argue with me. Normal, fine, I invited this discourse, so we go back and forth for a bit.

Up until they claim that their friend was groomed by a man using the game and became a red room victim. Not only this, but said friend was sitting beside them right at that moment, laughing at my defense of the game. In fact, they were going to the mall together, and I was very pathetic, sad and lonely for continuing to reply to an argument they started.

Now, there's obviously a lot to unpack here. I think it's hilarious. I have several statements, so I make them.

How could she be a victim of something that does not exist and has been repeatedly debunked?

Even if she, theoretically, was red rooms are snuff. She would be dead, so how are you on your way to the mall right now?

Let's say this is true, red rooms are real, she's the sole survivor of an urban myth: why would she be laughing while you exploit her trauma for an internet argument

You are going to the mall with your deeply traumatized friend. Why are you still so focused on arguing with someone online?

I have seen the fandom for Boyfriend to Death. I have been in it. The prescence of cisgender men is slim. I genuinely think the presence of a cisgender man who is also a stuff trafficker is unlikely. I am fairly certain you're just thinking of Strade.

Well, they did not like any of my questions. Pretty swiftly did this back and forth devolve into shit-slinging, accusations and inexplicable weirdly racially charged insults under the assumption of me being white. They called me a "squealing inbred pig" for stating that I did not believe anything they said after their repeated lies.

Additionally, to prove that they were black, because apparently that was very important despite not being relevant, they posted an image of themself and tagged me in it. They were not, in fact, at any mall with any alleged red room victim friend.

For Corrine, if you were just to watch the show you'd think she hated her dad. No, I'm sorry. Corrine loved her father. She'd never poison him so she could go out with her friends. For some reason the show really wanted to redeem Corrine. But it doesn't work. At her core, Corrine is a selfish entitled young women. She even admitted in the first book that love doesn't make the world go round. Money does. Like the new version of Olivia, I don't buy for a second this Corrine would sell out her kids for money.

a short defence of incest shipping:

psychology BA (and future psychologist most likely) here! also an incest shipper! my very valid and scientific theory for why we ship incest is that we desire a love where we could never ever be left by the other because we're connected in more ways than romantic. it's very similar than the soulmate trope but for people who like a bit of spice (i don't mean smut here btw). in the soulmate trope you're thrust together with someone new, the incest trope has more of a friends to lovers vibe. the idea of strangers meetcute falling in love is very Straight and Neurotypical, friends or enemies or siblings first offers a less conventional story structure. the incest trope also deals with shame. a lot of people have shame about love and sex! especially religious people and queer people. incest is a metaphor!!! it's not about wanting to fuck your literal family! it's just about liking a strong bond. what we ship does say something of us but it's not usually the most straightforward explanation. also, this is just my theory, there are probably more reasons for liking incest ships. but i beg, BEG antis to look beneath the surface when screaming about brotherfucking pro shippers.

Too much of the fandom really likes Renee. I hate her. I can understand that people find her attractive, because she is, but I can’t stand her. Obviously each to their own, and I can acknowledge that if you don’t particularly like both Andrew and Ashley you will find Renee’s actions less hate-able. This is just my thoughts shoved into text format. Sorry for any errors.

Abuse of Andrew

₍ᐢ. .ᐢ₎ Renee made Andrew into a parent for Ashley, which in turn didn’t allow him to have a proper childhood. It’s also teased in the Episode 3 trailer that there’s rumours of incest between the siblings around school which is no doubt stemmed from the two being forced in such close proximities due to the mother and fathers neglect. This more than likely affected a lot of Andrew’s social life, pushing him towards other women to ‘prove’ he isn’t ’like that’, which isn’t particularly healthy for a teen boy.

₍ᐢ. .ᐢ₎ Renee and the father are likely the cause of Andrew’s anxiety in fear of pissing her off, or generally bothering her. Andrew represses his true feelings so he can please his parents, Both parents seem to brush off any concerns Andrew has, making him internalise his feelings and not seek any mental or emotional support for what he is going through.

Abuse of Ashley

₍⑅ᐢ..ᐢ₎ Renee forcing Andrew to be Ashley’s caretaker tore away any form of other support network for the young girl. This is clearly shown with how she struggles to make friends and genuine connections with others outside of Andrew, seen with Julia and Nina. It is also why she never sought out support for herself, Renee would never get help for her clearly neurodivergent or somewhere on the ASPD spectrum, so Ashley in turn also did not.

₍⑅ᐢ..ᐢ₎ Renee not allowing Ashley to have birthdays may seem like a small and insignificant detail but it speaks volumes of what she was like as a parent to me. She never allowed to have nice things and Renee made sure of that. Or didn’t. She didn’t care enough to even check up in the girl, probably didn’t even remember her birthday.

₍⑅ᐢ..ᐢ₎ Renee calling her a problem and an annoyance, again, something insignificant to some that I am reading into far too much. Your parent is supposed to be your biggest supporter in life, the one that brought you to life, who is supposed to love you unconditionally. Ashley has none of that. The only unconditional love and support she has is from her older brother. Not having support from your parents, your mother actively calling her an annoyance doesn’t help with her obviously festering insecurities and self hatred.

₍⑅ᐢ..ᐢ₎ Renee thinking and openly expressing that the only way Ashley could have value to anyone (specifically Andrew) is if she is having sex with them. Ashley’s mindset about sex is very contractual (I will probably go into further detail about this in a later post) and I believe that that has been taken from her mother.

🌺 Selling her children to the organ harvesting scheme is just generally fucked up, and how she shows absolutely no remorse is even more concerning. She happily collected the life insurance money, moved to a nicer home in a nicer place intending to forget about the two whole children she had.

🌺 Renee may not be the cause of all of the siblings problems, there are external influences as well as the father, though I feel with the lack of content we have around their father that I am unable to judge him on his actions, bar being equally responsible for his children. I just find the fandoms treatment of Renee to be odd considering how fandoms usually absolutely flame abusive parents in fiction. As I said, each to their own, if you like her this isn’t a post to try and change your mind, it’s just my opinion.

As much as I love the fact the incest vibe between Ashley and Andrew was so undeniable that even their mom noticed it and just could not believe that they WEREN'T screwing already, the way she acts like wanting to fuck her is the ONLY reason Andrew could ever have to side with her and sacrifice their parents to the demon pisses me off the more I think about it.

Renee literally made Andrew parent Ashley, went out of her way to make it so Andrew was the person she'd rely on for any kind of emotional support, had them share a bedroom their whole lives, then literally sold them and did not give a fuck that they would starve and die in a cruel way, having no one but each other to turn to during that torture because they could not leave the apartment.

Yet she's surprised that Andrew not only resents her, but also feels a sense of obligation to Ashley and actually cares about her in his own fucked up way - aka she failed to do as a parent because she simply could not be bothered.

She simply doesn't understand the basic concept that Ashley could have any vallue as a person, even for someone that was forced to stand by her side his entire life. She doesn't accept that Andrew could ever resent HER for everything he had to endure instead of just blaming Ashley and no one else. She doesn't get that they are trauma-bonded because she doesn't believe she traumatized the fuck out of both of them.

Also the NERVE and complete lack of self-awareness this woman has for calling Andrew disgusting for the incest, even though it was all caused by her own screw ups as a parent. Again, they slept in the same bedroom, their whole lives - childhood, adolescence and first years of adulthood. Then she had them be locked up in the apartment together. Alone. Even though she was already getting weird vibes from them for a while.

She's practically forcing them to cross that line, then gets mad when she thinks they actually did it.
