star wars AU where instead of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa we have Leia Skywalker and Luke Organa!

Luke grows up as a Prince on Alderaan, very soft-spoken, anexcellent negotiator. Meanwhile, Leia grows up as a little shit on Tattooine and gets into trouble galore.

[Obi-Wan is significantly more involved in both of their lives - he keeps needing to get Leia out of trouble, and Luke accidentally met (and recognised) him the one time he was off-Tattooine.]

post-Order 66 AU where Obi-Wan breaks into the Fortress Inquisitorius for some (very important) reason or the other and finds Cody in a cell.

He desperately holds Cody's face through the bars and both of them start tearing up.

Obi-Wan tries to break Cody out, only for Cody to tell him to run, it's a trap.

The door at the end of the hallway opens to reveal Darth Vader.

"The perfect Jedi, with his attachment," Vader steps forward. "Tell me, Obi-Wan, what would the Council say if they could see you now?"

Obi-Wan turns towards Vader.

"When his time comes, I will let Cody go to the Force, Anakin," he unclips his lightsaber from his belt, "something you could never do with Padme."

A menacing, heavily modulated growl. "DO NOT SPEAK OF HER!" Vader ignites his lightsaber, and red light illuminates him from below. He points an accusing finger at Kenobi. "YOU ARE THE REASON SHE IS DEAD!"

The hand around Obi-Wan's lightsaber twitches. "I am not," he calmly responds. "And neither are you, Anakin. Padme died of a weak heart. She died believing in you-"

"LIAR!!"

Vader lunges. Obi-Wan ignites and raises his lightsaber just in time to block a blow which would have taken his head off.

"Now, Obi-Wan," Vader pushes in. Kenobi pushes back. "Now you will feel the pain of losing the one you love."

Clone Wars AU where Obi-Wan confronts Anakin about his relationship with Padme early in the war and helps him tone down the posessive attachment. As a result, Anakin is a lot better at the letting go of the feelings part and at peace with the fact that one day Padme will die. (Major changes to all episodes involving Padme getting kidnapped or similar and Rush Clovis). Anakin and Obi-Wan eventually tell the Council, which, on seeing that Anakin's not unhealthily attached to his wife, is fine with the relationship. This eventually leads to Anakin's relationship with the Jedi improving significantly, and he starts to question Weird Talks with Palpatine. (Bonus points if Ahsoka doesn't leave the Order (maybe because Anakin convinces her not to?)) By RoTS, Palpatine is under suspicion, and when Anakin gets dreams of Padme dying during childbirth, he approaches Obi-Wan and they both take her to the doctor. After Palpatine's Darth Plageius speech, Anakin tells Mace about the incident, Mace goes to Palpatine's office with significantly more Jedi than in canon, Anakin shows up and helps the Jedi defeat Palpatine. Camera footage of the incident shows Palpatine using Sith powers and helps absolve the Jedi of any guilt. Obi-Wan kills Grievous on Utapau and returns victorious, having ended the war. Padme gives birth to healthy twins, Leia and Luke. Obi-Wan's the godfather. Ahsoka's the cool aunt.

(Bonus points if its Codywan too.)

I was watching RotS clips and Palpatine said "Execute Order Sixty-Six" and I thought "oh Cody has to execute Obi-Wan now, what a coincidence", and the thought came to me;

what if there aren't sixty-six orders?

WHAT IF execute order sixty-six means execute the sixty-six Jedi of the Order?

read a couple fics in which anakin marries padme then finds out that jedi don't forbid relationships and he's kind of a bitch in them

and author is like 'omg anakin didn't trust obi-wan enough to tell him' and obi-wan is all sad and disappointed in anakin and i just wanna say this

i mean-

palpatine has been filling anakin's ears since he was nine.

i think that he says something that anakin wants to hear or agrees with - and then twists it to something else. and he does this for thirteen years straight.

did something wrong? didn't tell kenobi because you're worried he'll scold you? don't worry, child, I'll never scold you for anything. you can come to me whenever you want, tell me whatever you want.

feeling angry? the jedi say to let go? well, yes, you're young, it can be hard to let go of feelings this quick. it's not wrong if it takes you a few days - a few weeks - a few years to let go.

kenobi went on a mission and didn't tell you? i think he should've. well yes, the council told him not to, but if he had told you, how would the council have known? i think he didn't tell you because he didn't want to tell you.

you think he trusts you? you think they all trust you?

they don't.

and if they don't trust you, should you trust them?

let me give you an example.

suppose you're going to the gym everyday with your friend A. you're eating healthy, and all that jazz. it's been two weeks and your friend B drags you to the mall. she wants you both to eat out.

i'm going to the gym, you tell B. i can't eat out.

well, you haven't been eating out for two days, right? B smiles. what's one cheat day?

she's right, you think. i've been eating healthy for two weeks - what's one day?

and then it happens again four days later. then again. then again.

and suddenly you realise that you're eating out four days a week and your meal plan's gone to hell.

because not eating out takes actual effort - you need to control yourself. and nothing's wrong with losing that control once or twice. but when there's a person right there, nudging you in the other way, making some pretty valid points, it's easier to give in and listen to them.

[you can't say that anakin shouldn't have listened to palpatine, he should have controlled himself nonetheless. i'd like to reiterate that he was nine.]

i think that even when he found out that palpatine was sidious, anakin didn't realise exactly how much he had been manipulated by him. he still genuinely thought that most of the "friendly advice" that palpatine had given him had been exactly that, friendly advice. he listens to palpatine because he's been doing that for the past thirteen years. of course the chancellor knows best.

and after mustafar, when palpatine tells him that he killed padme in his rage - he thinks himself too far gone. he regrets ever turning, but who is he supposed to go back to? obi-wan? his brother the man he just tried to kill? he's done so many heinous things. he can't be redeemed.

and in any case, he doesn't deserve redemption.

i think anakin realises the extent of palpatine's manipulation when he tries to turn luke in return of the jedi.

when palpatine tells luke, replace your father. take your place beside me.

that's when anakin realises just how long he's been manipulated by this man - like how he is trying to manipulate luke. when he realises that everything he's done has been on the whims of the chancellor, sees that he is redeemable. when he finally finds someone to go back to - in his son and in his daughter.

and the jedi returns to the light.

I love Obi-Wan so much and agree with everything you said but also I just kinda wanna hear the Ted talk 😂 but I just love talking about Obi-Wan so

So. Obi-Wan Kenobi, negotiator extraordinaire.

We first see him (chronologically speaking) in The Phantom Menace, where he is the padawan of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn.

(Now I haven't read the books detailing his life as Qui-Gon's Padawan, but from what I heard Qui-Gon's not exactly the best Master.)

They meet a child who Qui-Gon thinks is the Chosen One, meant to bring peace to the galaxy. They take him to the Jedi Temple.

[Then, of course, the Council refuses to train Anakin, and Qui-Gon says he will train Anakin himself, no matter the Padawan he already has, who is, suddenly and very conveniently, ready to become a Knight.

But anyways.]

The Phantom Menace (basically) ends with Obi-Wan's Master dying in front of his eyes. And Qui-Gon's last words to his Padawan are not of comfort, but are a responsibility. And so newly-knighted Obi-Wan Kenobi also gains a Padawan in the form of Anakin.

Somewhere along the way, he gets attached to this child - his brother. He gives Anakin everything - every skill, every hard-earned lesson he's learnt, to make Anakin a greater Jedi than he was ever able to be.

It's not enough. Anakin still falls.

And Obi-Wan fails his master's last wish. He lets Anakin fall. Whose fault is it, if not his?

When the time comes, when he faces Anakin, in those last moments together on Mustafar - Obi-Wan finds himself unable to kill Anakin. Because how do you kill someone you love despite every rule telling you not to?

And somewhere in the middle of all this is Satine.

Satine, who Obi-Wan fell in love with. Satine, for whom he would have left the Order.

Satine, who he loses, like everyone else in his life.

Here is a man who has gone through so much - and still has managed to stand by his beliefs, by the so-called Jedi Code, which has only ever taken from him.
