Calling Padmé “stupid” for believing in Anakin’s goodness, never losing faith in him, for not believing OW when he told her of how the love of her life had fallen to the darkside, to go and confront Anakin herself and ask him for all she’d heard, then die with the unshakable belief that there was still goodness in him, only for her or be proven correct by the narrative itself all along really makes everyone who said this look completely illiterate and incompetent. Especially when it came to understanding her true character.

cody, standing with obi-wan while watching anakin and padmé talk: he does know that—
obi-wan: ah, well. we’re all just letting him believe he’s doing a good job of keeping it secret, dear.
cody: oh.
cody: we're not like that, are we? :/
obi-wan, chuckling: oh no dear. of course not.

not sure if you've answered this before but for the sapphic au... how did leia and luke get made if their parents are both cis ? are they force babies, created by anakin meddling with the force just as sidious did and thereby killing padme? or maybe they just went to star wars sperm bank idk. desperately curious to see if you have an explanation in mind or if they just kind of popped into existence (sorry I just get wrapped up in silly details with everything)
Oh am I glad you asked !

Only hole in my flawless explanation..... There is no way in hell Anakin in topping regularly in this relationship. So gotta assume the moment they tried to switch it up a bit they got magic stap babies.

The Kiss by Francesco Hayez, 1859
[original + sketch under the cut]

i thought this piece was extremely fitting for these two (particularly a lot of its little details and the distinct shape of the figures against one another), and i have a lot of feelings about them recently, so this is the result

i feel like padme would be just as feral about anakin if their genders were swapped: he'd be like that's my angry little wife who i love. we shall have a summer wedding and many feral little children (she is 100% down for this, although i feel like hiding a pregnancy as a jedi would be very hard)
Ooh no i'm sorry for taking so much to answer, i put this on draft and then i forgbot about my drafts dfnkgjnkfdg
Lmao, of course, their dynamic would change very little if anything at all 😂
The biggest change I can think of, besides the hidding the pregnancy thing, could probably be that Padmé would want to lift his messed up failure of a wife just-married-style and he can't, because their heights would be the same, but tbh, I think that's something canon Padmé would've liked to do too, pfff.
Also I like to think if Padmé were a guy, he would look extremelly and eerily close to Luke (well, more like Luke looks eerily close to Padmé), but withcurly and brown hair and eyes. And better makeup (tbh, I do already draw them with similar shapes/face structure, so it fits).
Also i'm totally going with t4t for this, i wont take criticism.
[what would absolutely totally change would be the audience and the fandom's perception and i shudder by just thinking about it, oof]

Anakin WAS a Good Husband
I feel like even though so many people focus on Anakin's character, he still remains to be INCREDIBLY misunderstood which is kind of shocking to me.
I saw someone post "Anakin was a terrible husband" and it's like…no, he literally wasn't at all. Anakin was an amazing husband, who, at the very end, was cracking under the pressure of being The Chosen One and going days and days without sleep because he was terrified of dreaming of Padmé's death again. This is the mental state he's in during Revenge of the Sith.
And during The Clone Wars he's honestly pretty amazing. We see him get upset (and rightfully so) a few times when Padmé is hanging out with Clovis, and even though it's obvious Padmé does not care about Clovis AT ALL Anakin is still worried about Clovis hurting her. Look, Padmé is a strong, independent woman who doesn't NEED protecting, but she's also gotten herself into a few situations where Anakin literally had to go save her and Padmé almost died (Blue Shadow Virus, anyone? There's more examples but I'm not getting into them here.)
Other than that, we see them have normal arguments that couples have, which is fine and healthy. They have some disagreements about how the galaxy should work and be run, but I have these kinds of disagreements with my husband all the time. But politics is not the entire extent of a relationship.
Was he a PERFECT husband? Absolutely not. No one is, that's literally impossible. But he was a good husband, and he always tried to do right by Padmé, even when he messed up.
But what about the choking thing, you ask? I already talked about that HERE so I'm not going to explain again.

I feel like people forget that Vader isn’t a reliable narrator. He’s the same man that’s desperate to convince himself and everyone around him that he’s not Anakin Skywalker anymore and that his real name holds no meaning because the owner to that name is ‘dead.’ But we know that’s a facade he puts up and an escapism to ignore the pain he’s in plus the knowledge of knowing that everything he’s done and is doing is wrong. So I just think it’s weird so to imply that Vader actually meant what he said when he claims that Padmé would’ve joined him and supported the Empire if she was alive. It should be obvious that Vader doesn’t actually believe this. He’s just desperate to convince himself that it’s true because he can’t handle the idea of her not choosing to be by his side if she had the chance, and also to help him make peace with himself to justify his actions as “correct.”
Anakin deep inside the mask of Vader knows this not to be true, and that’s one of the many reasons why the ghost and memory of Padmé haunts him. (Ofc apart from the grief and remorse he feels over what he did to her.) He knows his wife. He was the one to know her the most intimately and closely. And that’s why he also knows that she wouldn’t support his actions, despite what he tells himself, he knows she’s right. He always believed in her and trusted her above anyone else. He knew where her stance would lie, even if he tries his hardest to reassure himself that the Empire is “good.” He himself doesn’t even believe it.
Anakin himself hates who he became, and there’s a lovely scene from one of the Darth Vader comics (I think the 2017 one??) where he confronts himself as Anakin in a vision, and how he sees that his “old and true self” is resentful and disappointed in the version he became. The scene ends with Vader killing “Anakin”, symbolizing that he ended the man he “use to be.” (Or so he thinks.) all in all, Vader can go on about how he’s not ‘Anakin Skywalker’ anymore, or about how his wife would actually support him in his endeavours, but the fact of the matter is that he knows that’s all false. The soul and echo of Anakin Skywalker rings loud inside Vader, and nothing was able to diminish it.

I Always love thinking of the AUs where Anakin/Vader raises the twins, partially because of his immaculate dad T-shirts, and also I just love thinking of how he’d react to either of the twins dating a literal criminal (yk ignoring Anakin’s own numerous war crimes) cause I’m sorry Han but you don’t stand a chance
maybe someone should stop ignoring his crimes actually
