"Men should have high body counts and women should be virgins until marriage" is funny only if you think of it shallowly, if you reduce this to an occasion to make jokes about these wannabe alpha males secretly being gay.
In reality, what these men are telling you is that they think there should be an underclass of women that's to be considered even less human than the one they want to marry. They want a selected group of women to be forced into a prostitution they will never be able to leave, to be raped by johns until the day they die.
They want sex slaves.

what people usually mean by “makeup is an art form” is they use 11 shades to contour themselves into the same face

everyone seems to think this is stupid but like... is it not an insanely positive thing to normalise not wearing makeup? a lot of women feel too insecure to even go to the shops without a full face because of billion dollar industries trying to convince them so. More women not wearing makeup and especially for dates seems like a deeply positive thing to me. makeup being a choice rather than an obligation is what we want, right?

ok well really you mean women specifically are doing this. this was already normal for men lol

In Australia Scarlett alliance is the #1 org run by current and former swers to help trafficking victims escape without going through police, as well as advocating for human rights for people in the sw industry, just to add to this amazing post <3
What ACTUALLY helps women leave the sex industry, from a prostitution survivor
Financial assistance- grocery gift cards, preloaded transit cards, rent and utility assistance, etc
Community connection- support services, women’s spaces, recovery groups (SLAA, ACOA, Codependence Anonymous, One More Day, NAMI, + others)
Individual assistance- help with resumes and job applications, offer childcare so she can attend work/school/support groups, assistance with filling out government forms, offering transportation to medical appointments, offer to be a reference or sponsor, connect her with your connections
Personal connection- buy her a coffee on a cold day or water on a hot day, keep some single bills in your bag, treat her like a real person, offer to help with small tasks, recommend nearby resources
Take time to know her. Build rapport. Don’t assume you can “save” her. Don’t expect an instant connection. She likely has her guard up, and may be opposed to any random help offered.
Outreach to homeless women. Ever wonder why you mostly see homeless males outside? Because we’re usually working. Or with a “manager”.
Finally, and this a hard one, get comfortable working with religious organizations. Right now, most exit orgs are religiously affiliated. Many government run programs expect her to either work with police, narc, or go into detox.
So until we have feminist exit organizations, you’ll have to get used to working with religious groups. The exit org that helped me was Christian-affiliated. They saved my fucking life and never made me go to church.
These are all things that have helped ME and many women I’ve worked with (both while I was actively involved in the industry and now on the outside). YMMV.

There’s a very real childhood sexual abuse → sex work pipeline.
Not every survivor ends up in prostitution, and not every sex worker has a trauma history. But CSA survivors are massively overrepresented in the industry, especially in street-level prostitution and trafficking.
Why the link exists:
Broken boundaries. CSA can normalize exploitation, making it harder to recognize or resist later coercion.
Poverty + homelessness. Survivors often run away or get pushed out, leading to “survival sex.”
Disrupted education/work. Trauma impacts mental health, school, and jobs, narrowing options.
Targeted grooming. Pimps and traffickers deliberately recruit kids with abuse histories.
Coping/repetition. Some dissociate (“if I choose it, I’m in control”), others unconsciously reenact trauma.
What research shows:
65–95% of women in street prostitution reported CSA.
In one Canadian study, 75% of sex-traded women had CSA histories.
Among trafficked minors, prior sexual abuse is one of the strongest predictors of exploitation.
The takeaway: The pipeline doesn’t erase agency, but ignoring it hides why so many people are in the sex trade. For a huge portion, it’s not empowerment — it’s survival after trauma.

this is why there is no longer lab research on pornography.
“Countless studies have since shown that exposure to pornography desensitizes men to violence against women, often shaping their sexuality in such a way that they become unable to experience arousal without some element of dominance or violence. The evidence has been so damning that, at times, universities have refused to allow further research on the topic. When a study shows detrimental effects that cannot be reversed, ethics boards will often refuse similar studies to go on. This has happened repeatedly with research on the effects of pornography.”

10/10 addition
there is NO radfem more unshakable than an ex/current SWer radfem. you will never understand the rotten, disgusting underbelly of masculinity the way someone does when their literal survival depended on catering to it.
this idea that women just “choose” SW on a whim or because they’re wanting to cater to the male gaze?? delusional. at least 90% of women end up there because they don’t have other options. this is my personal opinion as a former sex worker who used it to escape homelessness. most of my co-workers were single mums struggling to feed their kids. full stop.
and YES you’ll see women online saying “i love it, i chose it, it’s empowering.” but you’re forgetting: that’s the JOB. the fantasy is the product. the whole point is to make men believe it’s fun, empowering, and a choice.
and sure, there are always tourists who get tricked into thinking it’s quick cash because of what they see online. but they find out real fast that the “fantasy” was NEVER meant for women. it was always, always meant to lure in men.
