much love to ‘i love my blorbo but they did all that’ but there should be a new category of ‘i love my blorbo but they were written by someone with transparent but unspoken biases and you gotta understand that context’

What is Gantober?
Gantober will be a list of prompts relating to Ganondorf for the month of October! I know Linktober is already a thing, but Ganondorf usually has only one day reserved for him. As a Ganondorf-centric blog, of course I would promote an entire month dedicated to him~
You wouldn't have to participate for every single day unless you want to challenge yourself (or participate in other October events). If there is sufficient interest, I will create a nice prompt list and make it official and all that. The entire point would simply be to put more of our favorite Demon King out in the world~

i bring a sort of "each loz game is written with its own set of lore with varying importance placed on what's considered Canon Details" vibe to the fandom discussions that the "is this theory true" crowd don't really like
#tloz#ultimately agreed#I think considering the ever-shifting nature of hyrule as something that is baked within its very nature is also an interesting perspective#not canon but fun#(one I'm quite invested in personally)

Have you ever imagined yourself, on a visit to a major museum, busting through a wall, arms full of ill-begotten African artifacts and ready to return them to their rightful homes? No? Well, you may soon have the chance, thanks to South African video game studio Nyamakop. Earlier this month at the annual Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles, Nyamakop unveiled its latest project, Relooted, a side-scrolling puzzle platformer—think early Tomb Raider or Prince of Persia games—where players join a crew of Robin Hood-esque thieves staging elaborate heists to take back stolen artifacts from Western museums, and repatriate them to the peoples from whom they were taken. As Nyamakop lays out on the game’s listing on the online video game marketplace Epic Games, Relooted takes place in a near future where “the political powers that be brokered a Transatlantic Returns Treaty, promising the repatriation of African artifacts from museums.” But the hitch in the treaty is that it only applies to artifacts on “public display,” leading museums to circumvent the requirement by placing the pieces in highly guarded private collections. And that’s where players come in: scoping out a given facility, carefully constructing an exit route, and then, of course, stealing the artifact and escaping. As Ben Myres, the creative director of the game, explained to Epic in a news post, all of the artifacts in Relooted are based on real-world pieces in Western museums. In crafting the various missions, the developer team spent two years of research narrowing done the list of which pieces, of the hundreds still held by Western museums, into something manageable.

Was thinking about Ganondorf as one does when they are doing chores, and it was really interesting that Takizawa expressed that watching Ganondorf kill someone on screen was surprising and demonstrated how evil he actually is. Meanwhile we have explicitly seen Ganondorf get run through on a sword a handful of times and die from it. It puts into perspective how we rationalize what violence is as it seems like our definition of it relies heavily on our own moral compass.
#true#ganondorf is by far the one who gets gored the most in that series#the guy vomits blood in oot#gets impaled several times in tp!! in the same wound!!#wind waker he gets a sword in the skull!! it's put there by a child!!#:((#*gives him an ice pack and a pat pat on his forehead gem*

⚠️Please Help my children ‼️
✅️Vetted by @gazavetters, my number verified on the list is ( #641 )✅️
Please donate and share
Hello friends, I am Abdullah Salem Abdullah Jaafar, 26 years old, a graduate of the University College with a degree in Information Technology - Multimedia. I used to have a beautiful family; I’m married and have four children, and my wife is pregnant.
I previously worked at a multimedia company, but because of the war, I lost my job, my home, my car, and now I have no place to live or work.
During the war, we were forced to evacuate more than four times. Each time, we had to leave everything behind without taking any of our personal belongings.
I live in northern Gaza.
We were displaced to southern Gaza, then to Deir al-Balah, then to Rafah, and now we live in an uninhabitable tent that is not suitable for living.
My daughter Rahaf was martyred in the war due to Israeli airstrikes. Now I have Iman, Malak, Basel, and my wife is in her seventh month of pregnancy.
Please, I am in desperate need of your help just to provide food and water for my children.
I lost my home and we have become homeless."
Please donate and share

Friends, I need your help.
My family in Gaza is going through unimaginable hardship because of the war. Basic things like flour and food are no longer available, and they’re struggling just to survive.
I’m doing everything I can, but I can’t do it alone. If you’re able to donate even a small amount it can help me send them some essentials to get through these dark days.
Please share, support, or keep them in your prayers. Every bit of kindness counts.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
I hope you can donate through Ko-fi so I can receive the money quickly and buy food for my family as soon as possible.

do you think EoW’s plot - specifically Null’s motive of “i was already living in this void and the goddesses just showed up and created reality and tried to kick me out” being framed as a bad thing - is in the same pro-colonialism vein as your issues with TotK?
Good question! My instinct would be a tentative nnnnno? For a number of reasons, but I do want to return to the game and reread the actual text before committing to this opinion. But from memory, I think the core difference, to me, is that Null had a complete hegemony over reality, fully rejecting change and life in it's every form (so the start of the story in that context is Null being in control of everything, instead of Hyrule being in control of everything/wanting to control everything), and demanding total compliance to non-existence from everything else. I think this reading on the pantheon places the Goddesses as a force of resistance to nothingness, which I think has very interesting implications for the magic system and how, in their own attempt to maintain their creation of life, they may have ostracized everything that wanted to question the set of rules they had put into place in turn. It's not canon or anything, but I do think it's (quite honestly) a far more interesting origin story than the Hylia/Demise debacle (even if it can be understood under this lens also, which would make it more interesting to me).
But yeah, to me, Null had imagery that was very reminscent of cancer, of consumption and destruction for its own sake. I doooon't think it makes as much sense to read it in a political way? As Null is a single entity, completely disconnected from culture and community and society, and more-so as the personification of a natural phenomenon of death and stillness and negentropy in my opinion (which I think they wanted Ganondorf to be as well, but this fails imo because he starts off as a man with man-like preoccupations, and his aspirations are about gaining absolute agency --implying he doesn't start having that agency, and it's his very political and social circumstances that push him towards trying to gain that level of power in a world that is hyper-hostile to him simply... maintaining the power he started with --especially in TotK, you could argue he didn't have to swear fealty to Hyrule in OoT, we just don't know enough about the political backstory in the Myth Era to make definitive judgement, but even still he had very mortal pressures that motivated his envy and anger)
Anyway, I need to return to my Many Screenshots of the conversations in EoW that seemed relevant to make sure I am convinced by the reading of the game I tentatively argued for here (and especially reread the Goddesses' and Null's perspective on all that), but I hope this is an interesting first step at least!
#asks#echoes of wisdom#eow#null#ganondorf#thanks for the ask!!#I think there's perhaps some element of that but I do find it a bit less convincing (and overwhelming) in this game#actually I do think they did a fairly good job at avoiding the series' usual pitfalls overall#for example: the tribes are never mentioned to be under Hyrule's control explicitly#their treatment of Zelda is a good element of that --she needs to earn respect from the tribes overall (the dekus arrest her ass even)#and I think making Ganon... kind of an implicit victim of Null was also very inspired#because Ganon --for all of his destructive villainous chaos-- is also part of the cycle of life in Hyrule#and Null hates the fact that anything exists --including Ganon! and including Hyrule and everything in it#regardless of how they feel *about* Hyrule --most of his victims are monsters after all#which I think works at placing Null as a threat that transcends the more dubious political aspects of the series#(also: EoW isn't obsessed with making Hyrule perfect and that also goes a long way imo)#(it's just not the point! the point is that people deserve to be alive! and I think it's a refreshing take on the series)#*but* I need to consult the Sacred Texts to make sure I'm not missing a super obvious thing#feel free to give counter opinions if you have them btw! I might be stupid or shortsighted. very possible.

Hey guys, I wanted to tell you about the Ihyaa' initiative. My friend Mohammed Ayesh, who's been our vetter on the ground in Ghazzah for the last year or so, wants to make a space and provide resources for University students to complete their studies in a proper learning environment, along with providing food parcels, stationary, and other essentials. You may have heard of the Isnad initiative! It's very similar to the Ihyaa' initiative but it's located elsewhere. They had to find the right room to use as a classroom for the Ihyaa' initiative and they're going to be paying rent of 2000$ for it. Mohammed Ayesh has informed me that starting on Monday this rent will begin.
University students are the foundation of a better and rebuilt Ghazzah! If you want to help Ghazzah rebuild, this is one of the first steps you can start assisting with.

⛔Stop a minute‼️
Get to know Hashem's family
My name is Hashem from Gaza. I am 32 years old and my wife, Samar, is 27 years old. We have a child born in the eighth month of pregnancy. His mother was premature because of my wife's fear of war. My large family consists of 8 members: my father, mother, four male brothers and 2 females. My father died in the war due to a lack of medicine in hospitals as a result of the fierce war on Gaza.

My story began when we were displaced from our home in northern Gaza in mid-October 2023 after a letter threatening eviction, and then the house was targeted and destroyed. Between this Exodus and the current fifth Exodus there are many stories and sufferings.
We now live in plastic tents, which are thermal ovens, which are not suitable for living and do not provide the minimum necessities of life, in addition to the spread of epidemics and diseases, which puts our lives in danger.

Through this campaign, we are trying to collect enough money to meet our needs and get us out of the Gaza Strip safely. We ask you to stand by us and protect us from this severe danger.
Support and share🤍
best wishes:
Hashem alshawish
