The final horse race test was absolutely devastating. Cyan finally won, her manifested doubts and fears finally overcame with a victory, but at what cost? (ft. Cyan, Garbage Can, and Superstitious Realism.)

I recently chose to read the book “Blood Meridian”. I have never consumed any content surrounding this book before and I didn’t even rightly know what it was about, just that Wendigoon made a video on it (which I haven’t watched). Really, the only reason I picked it up was that my college library had it. Yet somehow, as I started reading, I had distinct memories of *watching* it on TV. From the beginning to about the part where the kid meets the hermit in the desert I not only remembered it, but knew what would happen next because I watched it.
It was very gritty and dark in the style of a really old western. I’m talking like 70-80s just based on the camera quality (Blood Meridian came out in 1985 which makes this even more strange). The opening scene I remember best, the rain, the white canvas rectangular tent, the dark orange-lit interior, the kid standing at the back watching the priest, the tavern off to it’s right. Then later Toadvine and the kid’s fight in the mud. In every detail, as vivid as if I just watched it yesterday.
Now, this is odd for a couple reasons- 1. No television or movie adaptations exist of this book to the absolute limits of mine and the internet’s knowledge and 2. I remember watching it when I was 12-13 in my family’s living room with my parents which, given their overprotectiveness and the violence of the memory, shouldn’t have happened.
Weirded out, I asked my dad about it and he said that we had never watched something like that. I elected to forget about it until I was talking to one of my friends and she said that she had a memory of the exact same movie/show. Neither of us could remember the name or why we had watched it.
Now, I’m thoroughly confused and I want to know if anyone else has this memory and maybe where it came from.

Something is terribly wrong.
been rereading 17776 with an online book group, and it truly is a masterpiece. i don’t think it would ever work as well as a print book, but i wanted to give making the cover a go!
[ID: A digitally illustrated cover for "17776: What Football Will Look Like in the Future" by Jon Bois. The title "17776" is written vertically over a football which a pair of dark-skinned hands is holding out, and the overlap of the numbers and football is colored in swirling blue with red, green, and yellow accents. Above the hands float the satellite forms of Nine, Ten, and Juice in space. End ID]
